Vietnamese women are so amazing. Hard-working, smart, entrepreneurial, and always have a smile on their face. Not to mention stunningly beautiful. As a business owner and entrepreneur myself, to see a woman like this that comes from the such humble beginnings, living in that tiny apartment, to starting her own business. VN is at the cusp of a 20 year super growth. The best thing you can do right now is help ex patriates on fixed Social Security income and pensions to establish new life in VN with not just affordable living locations but also regular tours and travel experiences as well as start small businesses and hire locals. There is so much to see in all of VN that 20 years may not be enough as things are so dynamic there and nothing stays the same for long.

Sometimes we don’t want to talk about the past, in this case is Saigon, but the past will be a foundation for future things, and many things now are inherited from the past.
If old regime continued to take control Saigon, Saigon now would be a developed city far from Singapore, South Korea,… (because in 60s, Saigon was called far east pearl).
Nowadays, most cities in Vietnam are urbanized and the same, because they are built under the same regime, the difference is only the local people who live there will make the different culture.
I hope Saigon and Saigonese (southern people in general) will always be Saigon and Saigonese and you will also a Saigonese in near future ;).
A very nice surprised when you decided to relocate to Sg from one also best city Hanoi. Very happy to say you a warm welcome from Saigon. Wish you all the best.🥳🤩

You seem completely ignoring history : it s "their time" it s exactly like most of Europe and U.S. in 80s they were all positive and smiling then "history happened " financial crises and the greatest recession in history banks originated - first time in history - ....I strongly thing that their attitude and "smiles" will disappear once their growth will dramatically fall as happened and happens always for any economical cycle and especially now in the volatile digital era where Vietnamese invest tons in Krypto, loans and mortgages everything on a cards caste controlled by Gov and Big companies often foreigner founded . They seem not learning from the West but doing worse the more I get into the more the market manipulations is high and their crash will be inevitable and bigger than what one might think ( Chinese lesson learnt ? nooo either )

Look at Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, HK, that is, the 'rich' Asian countries. Those countries share some cultural similarities with Vietnam (Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism) yet they too are experiencing quite a bit of angst. I reckon in a few generations from now, when and if Vietnam becomes rich and fat, people will begin to suffer from much of the same. Remember Asians are just like the rest of us. They are human like us, with the same fears, joys, hopes, desperations, etc. Now something that contributes to alienation in the U.S. is the deliberate and willful self-isolation of people in their choice of residence. For strange reason, they love to live in soul-less, empty suburbs and get around in metal boxes on wheels.
p.s. please don't tell me HK and Taiwan are not countries. The point remains. Stop typing.

I would never consider moving to Saigon despite being born there and raised in the USA. Saigon is filthy, it's hot and humid, it's polluted, it's noisy( constant honking), traffic is ridiculous, there is always construction going on. People are nice though and food is good. Best of luck to you to move back home. I can see the main reason why you moved is because of your RUclips content and job. I visited Vietnam for the first time back in early September, going to Hanoi, Sapa, Halong Bay, and finally, Saigon. I had a wonderful time in each location, all of which stand tall in their own right as great places to experience. Both major cities, Hanoi & Saigon are awesome in their own right, but the contrast between the two is immense. I only moved back to the US in March after living in Korea for three years, and honestly Saigon felt more similar to a Korean city like Busan or Seoul than it did to Hanoi. This is because HCMC/Saigon has a much stronger Western influence and international city vibe, whereas Hanoi is ardently Vietnamese. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it. If it wasn't for the climate, I could definitely see myself living in Saigon. Thank you for reminding me of Saigon's wonder, and I hope I am able to visit it again sooner rather than later.

I really like this video. However, we have permits for very good reasons. Especially for safety. As a business owner I feel rules can be tiresome and some are ridiculous, but I can see why we need them. Most cities and towns won’t stop a kid selling lemonade in the US, unless a nosy, miserable person calls and complains. An adult of course they need to pay taxes and fees. That is why we have much better infrastructure and less corruption. I find while I’m in Vietnam I can’t handle street food and it can be very unsanitary. Not to mention quality of ingredients not as high. My time is very expensive because I can only stay for a month, therefore, I don’t want to spend a week sick with stomach bug. I avoid street food and prefer good restaurant or home cooked.

In comparison, Saigon is almost 95% one ethnic group (Kinh). It's much less diverse than many Asian cities like KL, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore etc.
