You really captured the essence of what fishing is to myself and many others. Fishing isn’t the act of simply catching fish, it’s the connection with nature, the exploration of new locations. Really well filmed, this was an amazing documentary, thank you!

Next time you get into Stinging Nettle look around for Touch-Me Not or Jewelweed plants. Break the plant stem and rub it on the affected area. It also works on Poison Ivy as well in a pinch. There are 2 different species. Pale Touch-Me Not which has yellow flowers and Spotted Touch-Me-Not which has orange flowers. They usually grow close to or right next to Stinging Nettle

    Excellent work, Brendan!
I thought from the trailer clip that you were taking us back to South America. But, now that I've seen the documentary, that looks like August or September in Ohio. 🌞
You really put some work into this project. I hope you got some joy out of it. 🙂 We witnessed some of the pain and heartache. 😕
Lost lures are par for the course when you're casting into the places where the fish lurk.
But broken rods and lost cameras (and footage) are harder to accept.
Kudos to you for persevering! 👍🏼
    And the stinging nettles! 🥴
    OUCH!
I think I'd have worn long sleeves and gloves and maybe a face covering in spite of the warm temperatures for that section of the hike. But you got through it.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Keep up the great work!

This documentary reminded me of a remote fishing spot that I found on google maps...it was basically a swampy backwater on a tidal river system and it was surrounded by a swampy forest with thick, thorny vegetation. I don't know if it had ever been fished before, but it was the first place where I caught a truly big bass. The place also had chain pickerel, crappie, bluegill, and bowfin. Unfortunately, the spot has declined in recent years, but it definitely had an air of mystery around it

For brush and nettle, if you get a decent piece of spare wood or piping tie or knot rope on both ends, like you're trying to wearing it like a sling. You can then walk through brush by stepping onto the post while holding onto the rope. If you make it wide enough it will make a little trail for you. No hooks in camera men or nettle to the forearms.
