when you've been kicked at the bottom of a ruck, you grab a hold of the nearest foot or leg near you, don't let it go so you can smash the owner of said foot after the ruck ends
Also, even though the fights look violent you rarely see a punch thrown. It does happen but due to the very strict rules. Some players don't risk it. Even if it was the other player doing it to them

The best way to learn is watch a few games of both Union and League, makes your NFL look sad. I'm from NZ and I played for years, from the age of 5.Every Saturday over winter. Our National sport. All Black and South Africa games are the ones to watch verses England Ireland and France. The ladies game is just as intense. Its a beautiful game.
Rugby is a 15-a-side team sport. The object of the game is to ground the ball behind the opponent's try line, into what is called the in-goal area. Rugby is played both with the ball in hand and by kicking the ball. However, when the ball is being carried in hand it can only be thrown or handed off backwards.
Now that you've seen something of Rugby, why not Google the basic rules and then you can watch with some friends and help them to understand what's going on.

I love watching Americans react to rugby. Something most don't know though is that unless someone has done something particularly dirty, they all meet in the clubhouse afterwards and laugh about it as they get hammered together!
Punching is actually very rare in rugby and is a straight red card of you do. For a closed first punch you can also get a temporary been from playing. Mostly, players just grab each other by the collar and push each other a bit. As with the cricket vid, I can answer most questions you have.
If you get tackled and you stop moving that is the 1st out of five tackles, which you restart and play again until the 5 is finished then the other team gets the ball to attack. And if you get hit in the head in a tackle by a defender as an attacker you get to restart your set of 5 and keep attacking.
You're talking of Rugby League, which is a modified version of Rugby (sometimes called Rugby Union by the uneducated) which results in to very different games. As for contact with the head, in both Rugby and Rugby League, it is fowl play, but what that means as an outcome can differ between the 2.

As soon as I was back up, I was playing again, no hate. I also became a prominent sprinter and triple jumper in our country in the county leagues. Maybe you don't know but we bite each other's ears in the scrum so any forward you see will have coliflower ears. This happens at the age of 14, and we play in ice and snow for 80 minutes and more. Rugby is a man's sport, you get back up and keep going. God bless this sport.

You can only hand pass behind you, and a kick forward is called a knock on. Plus the salutes the girls do at the start is the same as giving the finger in the uk.
The thing is if you actually watch the game it's a high octane high intensity game, emotions are on 10 through out the game, this stuff happens all the time and at the end of the game they shake hands and go and share a beer. It's not play for 2 seconds then talk about for 5 minutes?? When you get hit in this game they get up and carry on, if you break your nose you better play on because your team mates will rip you for going off. Rugby players dislocate shoulders and elbows, pop it right back and carry on.
Play stops when the ball goes out of bounds if team A takes the ball out then possession goes to team B but team B has to throw the ball down the middle of two lines of players who contest the throw and aim to secure possession. If a player is tackled he has a few seconds to place the ball backwards towards his team ,or face a bit releasing penalty, the tackler has to get back to his feet then he is allowed to try get the ball if it is still on the ground so during that time play doesn’t stop for players involved. If a player drops the ball forward and it makes contact with the ground then the other team gets possession but they have to win a 8 on 8 scrum witch is 8 men locked together linking arms and charging into the opposing 8 men hard to explain but easy to find demo on you tube. Any penalties have a short stop while the team decide witch option weather kicking for Goal or the out line ( in case of penalties the team kicking out retains possession) or they can opt to run from the mark the penalty Took place, other then that the only other time teams rest or stop is when they reset after points have been scored. Sorry gramma and spelling suck but hope that helps
Rugby rules are quite straightforward: * Passing the ball - you can only pass the ball (from your hands) behind you (or parallel to you). If you pass it forward it's called a forward pass and results in a scrum being awarded to the other team. If a player drops the ball they need to make sure if goes to their side or behind - if it goes forward it's called a knock on and it results in a scrum with the other team having the put in. * Kicking the ball - that's fine, but every time you kick the ball in open play you are more often than not handing possession over to them. Also, if you are outside of your 22 (the last "quarter" in your side of the field) and the ball goes straight out then the throw in goes all the way back to where you kicked it you (territory wise). The only time you can kick the ball out on the full is if you are kicking it as a result of a penalty or within your (last "quarter"). Worth knowing is that some teams are famous for their running game, so very rarely will kick the ball in open play as they want to play with their flair and skill * Fighting - it's a game of controlled aggression and often there are flare ups. Essentially if you punch someone you will be yellow/red carded (depending on the ref and the amount they see). Pushing and pulling are generally what you see a lot of. * Tackling - anything below the shoulders is good. If the tackle is above the shoulder it will result in a penalty (and potentially a card). Similarly a late tackle will result in a penalty (and if it is really really late and cynical will most likely end up with you in the sin bin on a yellow card or red). You can't tackle a player if their feet are not on the ground (ie if the player is in the air) - penalty normally If you put in a huge hit on a player and take them off their feet, you need to take care not to up end them and spear them into the ground (will be a red card if you do). * Line outs - players from the teams need to keep on their respective sides. They can't tackle opposition in the air. The ball needs to be thrown in straight. Similarly the defending team need to make sure the correct number of players are in the line out if the other team calls numbers (ie limits the number of folks in the line out). * Cards - like football there are yellow and red cards. A yellow results in the player being send to the sin bin for 10 mins. 2 yellows and you're off. There are other rules, but these are the basics - hope it helps
different is we are harder we were born and breed to this not just wait lifting build is just pure muscle and bone been train to do this since we were little kids. love from NZ
If you punch your ejected that’s why they mainly push and shove but you get them back by smashing them out n a tackle hopefully sending them on the stretcher. You can knock back but not forward. If it is knocked forward the ref gives the opposite team an advantage to go forward if not he blows the whistle for a scrum. Plays in rugby can go for as long as15 minutes which is hard running and tackling and as short as 5 minutes. When the ball goes out of play or knocked forward you rest for less than a minute to restart the game
Main difference...in Rugby you must pass the egg backwards. It's a slower sport but it's tractors sport. Fucking tanks with legs with no fear of the impact, brutal and the prototypes of what a man beast should be
They are grabbing and pushing as any hitting e.g punching or contact with the head or neck area is an immediate red card ( sent from the pitch for the rest of the game) and it would also usually result in a several week game ban
The green team is currently the world champions. They are south africans and the team is called the springboks. We officially start playing at 5 years old and keep playing as long as your body lasts. I'm 6ft and weigh 240lbs. I'm considered to be a small player.
There aren’t many fights in rugby and when a tackle is made they form a scrum when the team has to try keep possession of the ball it also give them time to set up next play but apart from penalties and line outs the game keep going
Yeah if you hit someone with an open hand you will not be instantly taken off the field. Maybe benched but like can still play without a fine. But it mainly comes down to who starts and who retaliate for who gets the blame in a brawl.
When I used to watch Australian Rules in the ‘80s with my dad; it was more like you went to watch a fight & football breaks out! Luckily they changed the rules in the early’90s due to too many deaths.
You are confusing rugby league and rugby union as regards what happens when a player is tackled. In Union the tackle is contested every time and there is no limit on the number of tackles whilst in League the tackled player has to 'heel' the ball back to a team mate but they lose the ball after six tackles.
Rugby has the second most rules apart from one.....Golf. it's not all legal. Every play and thing that happens has multiple rules from passing, breakdowns, tackles, kicks, recovery etc etc. A "fumble" is called a "knock on" btw... But only if it goes forward...and only if it comes off the hand to just below the shoulder or the head/chest. If off anything below the waist it's legit and can be.....(disappears into the multiverse) It looks like carnage but is ridiculously controlled. Melissa is hot 👍
A 'Knock On' is the ball being fumbled forwards. Only the opposing team can pick it up to comtinue playing. If they can't, they get to restart the game with a scrum. You cannot touch anyone above the shoulders. I think punching is a send off offence. The girls could play rugby. If they are fast, they would play on the wing. So that they stay away from the big forwards in the centre of the field. :)
This will help with the rules: Nimh explains the rules of rugby union also there was the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2017 so you should find some games for them to watch, the USA took part.
love how he said its to small a field when a rugby field is bigger then a American football field sounds like some one has to go play some Rugby just for the first half don't even have to be the hole game
Hand bags at ten paces this is not representative of the sport but it does happen but they will be in the bar drinking together afterwards. More injuries in NFL. Watch a rules video first before being critical.
you will get a yellow card if you get caught either cheating or punching someone or if the reff knows you started the fight if it happens twice you get a red card and get kicked off field for the entire game
For a couple of decades in rugyby union, you punch someone you will get an automatic red card. Ejected from the game and your team has to play short a player for the rest of the match. That is why you see some open hand slaps. You need to go back to the 20th century. A lot more punching, dangerous tackles, lot bigger fights. The players are not as big, but it was a lot more dirty.
You need to search for the rugby league fights from the 80s and 90s, since they haven't got helmets and all the knowledge came out about concussions early 2000s they cant punch on anymore... not only sent off for the game but face a authority board and get fined plus suspended a certain amount of games.. I think anything from 2-4 games
Watching this, I really need some medical staff in my home. :) Those women are beautiful, and despite my sarcasm, I'm sure they are very good at their profession. Really. Keep at it, and during this pandemic, youre doing a hell of a job at great risk. Cheers!
The people in England who play rugby are people like solicitors, teachers etc, they can hold their tempers most the time and are built like American footballers with the pads on and massive necks
Throwing a punch can lend you with a yellow card (10mins) in the bin, red card (not completing the rest if the match). If severe, players can be ban for a few matches or for life after the game. That's why they are so careful. Retaliation to a punch is just as bad as throwing it. Sometimes refrees penalise person retaliating if they aggravate a big mess. Any tackle above the shoulder is illegal. People have to tackle with arms wrapped around, so shoulder charge or charging without arms wrapp is also illegal. There are alot of intricacies and deyails in rugby laws... watch a few full matches and you can learn from the commentators or referees explaining penalties and how laws are applied
Damn if every rugby game was played with agression, there would be no players left to play lol great reaction though, you will understand rugby the more you watch.
Rugby league has plenty punches… and the tackles are also a lot more reckless … rugby union not so many punches anymore… also you used to be allowed to stomp on the opposing player if they were laying in your way on the wrong side of the breakdown… I.e. offside…but now you’ll be sent off for that. It was called rucking or mountaineering. The ribs were a favourite target for the boot spikes back in the day
in the 1970's when south africa toured the uk they started playing dirty so the british players got fed up with the cheap shot so they came up with the 99 call which basicly one in all in the next game when a springbok punched a brit the whole of both teams were fighting the ref could'nt send all the players off
If you don’t like em punch em.

* Cards - like football there are yellow and red cards. A yellow results in the player being send to the sin bin for 10 mins. 2 yellows and you're off.
There are other rules, but these are the basics - hope it helps
Why does watching rugby compilations make me so fucking primal. I want to put my head through a window and let out a roar.
Hahaha ROARRR
different is we are harder we were born and breed to this not just wait lifting build is just pure muscle and bone been train to do this since we were little kids. love from NZ
Yeah, i didn't like WAIT lifting Benjamin Samu. All that hangi ng around. I went to spellin lessons insted.
Fucking tanks with legs with no fear of the impact, brutal and the prototypes of what a man beast should be
Love how you called it the egg 😍
They are grabbing and pushing as any hitting e.g punching or contact with the head or neck area is an immediate red card ( sent from the pitch for the rest of the game) and it would also usually result in a several week game ban
The green team is currently the world champions. They are south africans and the team is called the springboks. We officially start playing at 5 years old and keep playing as long as your body lasts.
I'm 6ft and weigh 240lbs. I'm considered to be a small player.
There aren’t many fights in rugby and when a tackle is made they form a scrum when the team has to try keep possession of the ball it also give them time to set up next play but apart from penalties and line outs the game keep going
form a ruck
you can pass it (only backwards/sideways) you can kick as hard and as high as you can
apparently women's rugby is more vicious than men's rugby
Man its nothing like the NFL. The people will walk through your whole team with ease.
Yeah if you hit someone with an open hand you will not be instantly taken off the field. Maybe benched but like can still play without a fine. But it mainly comes down to who starts and who retaliate for who gets the blame in a brawl.
I believe that!
When I used to watch Australian Rules in the ‘80s with my dad; it was more like you went to watch a fight & football breaks out! Luckily they changed the rules in the early’90s due to too many deaths.
You need to watch some full matches dude! There's not as much of these handbag moments as you'd think and it is non-stop!!!
Bro, hahahaha, it’s called a pass, we pass the ball, we don’t toss the ball..😂😂😂
Rugby is the game of brotherhood and loyalty if one of your brothers get punch you help him
You are confusing rugby league and rugby union as regards what happens when a player is tackled. In Union the tackle is contested every time and there is no limit on the number of tackles whilst in League the tackled player has to 'heel' the ball back to a team mate but they lose the ball after six tackles.
At school as a skinny lad of 90 pounds and 5 foot tall I was fast but we had no fear of tackles.
If off anything below the waist it's legit and can be.....(disappears into the multiverse)
It looks like carnage but is ridiculously controlled.
@homegirls!!!! 😂 if they see this comment!
They can play anywhere they like in women's rugby. You can't go on a rugby field trying to avoid more than half the opposition.
@@kingspeechless1607 Smart wingers do. :D
@@alexradojkovic9671 If you are are defending the line you don't have a choice when a 17st lump rumbles towards you.
In Rugby we say, "Trample the weak and hurdle the dead."
This will help with the rules: Nimh explains the rules of rugby union also there was the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2017 so you should find some games for them to watch, the USA took part.
Weird, never heard someone get so much wrong about how rugby is played “ don’t know much about rugby “ really ! 🤣🤣 cool video
love how he said its to small a field when a rugby field is bigger then a American football field sounds like some one has to go play some Rugby just for the first half don't even have to be the hole game
BRO!!! You gotta react to "Tuilagi brothers big hits" they are 2 samoan brothers who hit harder than my mom
Five
They say no part of Aussie Michael Hooper's body hasn't been stitched. He was in some of your videos.
If you drop the ball forward its called a knock-on. The other team then gets to throw into the scrum
Hand bags at ten paces this is not representative of the sport but it does happen but they will be in the bar drinking together afterwards. More injuries in NFL. Watch a rules video first before being critical.
Afl pitches are bigger than both rugby and american football fields
you will get a yellow card if you get caught either cheating or punching someone or if the reff knows you started the fight if it happens twice you get a red card and get kicked off field for the entire game
Rugby players are absolute monsters, they have legs like tree trunks.
You guys should react to Eben Etzebeth (The Destroyer). He's a legendary Lock who played for the Springboks.
brooo , the most important thing...in rugby is no protection gear
Good video. Enjoy watching Americans learn about Rugby.
You don't need aggression to play our beautiful game of rugby all you need is the love for the sport and yea that's is
you can throw it backwards at any time. you can kick it any direction at any time.
Once the fights finishes we go back to playing
love the hits, hate the punches, I think every rugby player will agree
Watching this, I really need some medical staff in my home. :) Those women are beautiful, and despite my sarcasm, I'm sure they are very good at their profession. Really. Keep at it, and during this pandemic, youre doing a hell of a job at great risk. Cheers!
Welcome lads and congratulations to hosting the 2031 RUGBY WORLD CUP........SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT
That's rare situations! I used to play I can explain you te rules if you want (from France)
1:14 u can cheer for New Zealand 🇳🇿 rugby world champions right here
The people in England who play rugby are people like solicitors, teachers etc, they can hold their tempers most the time and are built like American footballers with the pads on and massive necks
Unlike American Football, a Rugby player can be banned for life for punching. That's Joe Marler, English Prop. Beast.
No you make a tackle keep your tackle wrapped, then stand up and contest for the ball in what’s called a “ruck”
In rugby punching is a big no no and you’ll get sent off and more often than not they’ll all have a drink after the game
Haha no players left
for fights you need to go old school rugby.
Preferably involving the French.
@@allyliddiard7320 yeah probably.
The ribs were a favourite target for the boot spikes back in the day
Ok, so Rugby Union is more ... Shall we call it "civilised"? So watch the Rugby League fights, coz those are baaaaaad coz they play so foul
Lmao if anyone's gonna teach someone else about rugby, pls let it not be you 🤣
Watch Rugby League biggest Hits and Fights that’s where the real sh*t is!!
fumble is called a 'knock on' in rugby.
your team loses possession from that.
We do punch, a lot. Broken noses, jaws and orbital bones are common.
Look at videos of The Laws of Rugby Union
Important parts of the game are scrums, line-outs, rucks and mauls
Many rugby players have died on the field. Mostly neck breaks in loose scrums
You can pass but only backwards. Forwards is a foul. Yes we can drop kick and yes we can also set kick
Kazuki Himeno || The Japanese Machine || 2021
There is absolutely no fumble in rugby
The neck snapper is Courtney lawes and there is a compilation of his (mostly) legal tackles😁🤕🍺🍺🍺🏉🏉
in the 1970's when south africa toured the uk they started playing dirty so the british players got fed up with the cheap shot so they came up with the 99 call which basicly one in all in the next game when a springbok punched a brit the whole of both teams were fighting the ref could'nt send all the players off
It was actually on the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa 1974 led by Willie John McBride
