"Are you ready for a symphonic metal evening with Dimmu Borgir tonight? Are you ready? Next song is Gateways. Now you might guess who is with us tonight? No other than Agnete from Djerv!"
The song is about paganism and ancient mysticism and «magic» that is forgotten but now is gradually coming back. Atleast that’s what I thought I understood from something I read once. I think they are talking about that some people will take this gift while others won’t or can’t
It's saying "you have the choice, be good or evil!" but there's no getting rid of either in this world! Regardless, you are the creator of your own master-plan. Don't follow someone else's
I once saw an interview with Anton Levay. In that interview, he stated that one of the primary beliefs of satanism is that if you want to do something, you do it. It is pretty much the same message in this song. I don't think it is an entirely evil message. Just about any religion, good or bad, has messages that pertain to blazing your own trail in life and making both the best and most of it. The primary meaning that I get from this song and from Anton LaVey though, is that in doing as you please, you should disregard that sometimes you're just going to have to offend or piss off others in the process. Favorite song by this band and one of my favorites of all time Hybrid Stigmata:. The Apostasy You must react to it.

Hybrid Stigmata:. The Apostasy
You must react to it.
Luciferian. The individual is the focus, not the collective.
Definitely check out their older songs. Gateways is one of their worst.
