That was both fascinating and frightening. The end result was brilliant. True artisan at work here. This has always been a mystery and the work involved is amazing. Thanks for sharing Eric.
I took me time to understand why those watches are so expensive, but now I can completely understand all the hard work, experience and care involved. This is orchestral!
Now this is brilliant. Us diehard watch enthusiasts crave this kind of technical content, and man the skills it takes to do a full polish on a high end piece like this. I hope this isn't a dying art.
I felt like I was in a movie, where a small group of soldiers defeated 10000 enemies. But in the meantime, they "just" cleaned and polished Eric's watch. Loved it!
Can only echo the comments below. What a superb production piece. Bravo to Eddy and Sons Watchmakers. Love to watch your work! Thanks also to Eric and the camera / production team. Wow, wow & wow!
I keep coming back & watching this master craftsman at work & I don’t mean you Eric. My Royal Oak 15400 OR is with AP at the moment for service & polish, can’t wait to see the result.
@@rey_s90 Hi, yes they sent the watch back like new, I also had a new croc strap fitted. Ironically today I have taken my 26331 rose gold chocolate dial for service & polish to AP House London, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with the task. Not cheap but you know the best people with the correct equipment are I trusted with the job
@@rey_s90 it came back like new! In fact yesterday I delivered my 26331 chocolate dial chronograph in for the same full service & polish. I feel safer letting AP do the work rather than chance picking someone who is not up to the job. The full service & polish for the rose gold 26331 chronograph came in at £1830 yesterday but it takes 10 weeks, the 15400 as I recall was about £1200 but you will be amazed at the transformation & by using AP you know everything is genuine with all the right paperwork.
@@rey_s90 I’m not sure if you received my response but yes it came back like brand new. I’ve just taken in my 26331OR chocolate dial for the same treatment.
@@rey_s90yes it came back looking fantastic! I’ve sent my 26331OR chocolate dial in for service & polish so that should be back in the next few weeks ( it takes approx 10 weeks in the UK)
It’s nice to see a watch collector and dealer actually get their watch polished. I get so tired of hearing about not getting watches polished and them looking like the fell out of my Jeep and got run over.
Wow. The video and editing was amazing. A true masterpiece. This was stunning to watch. If this is a taste of things to come then I am all in. Can’t wait.
Hey Eric, When people say why is it so expensive to maintain your watch ,they should watch this then they will see and maybe understand . Beautiful watch and a awesome video ,Great Job !
I would be interested to have you interview one of these guys , to get their opinion on what watches they think are top class. They do get to strip and see them closer than most and like you say , have years of experience .
Truly an art. Just caught u on the Timepiece gentleman channel. That was awesome. Congrats on all the success. I loved hearing a little about your background. You guys should do that kind of stuff more often. Cool stuff.
eric i love the bikes on the wall but the one you dont have is the dyno freestyle that was in the cool blue color with the white mag wheels and that was my hand me down from my cousin and it was generations ahead of its time but you need one of those to complete the set and by the way how much is the one i just said in the blue in good condition cause i might still have it in my addict
Great video Eric!! Have you ever had a Rolex polished by Rolex? If so..did it turn out just as nice as your Royal oak? Love your enthusiasm and honest opinions when it comes to these timepieces. Keep up the great videos!!!
Great video and thank you for sharing. This makes me more comfortable getting an AP that needs similar love. I apologize if it is already in the comments but, can you please let me know how I reach out to the watch maker that did the polish work in your watch. Thanks a lot in advance.
Minty fresh. The amount of time and talent to do these skills are amazing. I hope young people look at this and go into this skill trade. All of these talented people are all over 50 years of age. In 25 years, it will get harder to find this skill.
Eric show us how to spot if a watch have been polish, the consequences of polishing and everything about that for us beginners would be awesone to learn. Greetings from Peru
i may be a noob to aps but it the front porthole supposed to have that scratchy look to it i would imagine that it would be taken thru the grits to where it was like a mirror finish
Awesome video ... so informative showing the chamfers and how hard it is to keep those sharp edges our watchmaker really is special ...I’d lobe for you to do a video on him and show his story he’s a great asset to our miami community GENTA would be proud
Great video. Couple things i noticed since i do the same work. He didn't polish the screws wich give even more wow effect, also too much polishing made the corners round instead of sharp straight corner on the case as well as with the band. Anyway its amazing to see how other people do this same work.
The thing is that the watch is from the early 90's and had been already over polished. Also the AP screws are so delicate that I told him not to touch them in order to not risk rounding them out any further.
I'm a watchmaker and a buddy of mine went to Switzerland a few years back to do an advanced polishing course. I think he said the Royal Oak has something like 7 different surface finishes.
Unbelievable talent and respect for this watchmaker! It’s like watching an operation! Next time I send my Rolex in for service I am going to be put under. Ha.
Brilliant move capturing on a RED. Utterly cinematic experience that I have yet to see elsewhere on these channels. You own this now.

A real craftsman at work.
That said, I don’t like having my watches polished. But totally understand those that do.
Beautiful job

As a non watch person I’m starting to appreciate why all this shit costs so much, loved the video.

Have you bought a watch yet ?
after almost a year, re-watching it, so much more appreciating the watch makers, and loving my royal oak

I don't know why but I like when a watch looks worn because it adds another story to an amazing watch...beautiful watch great channel

I found this soo satisfying, the only way to restore such a beautiful watch ready for more wear 👏🏼👍🏼 wear it, repair it, enjoy it.
What a follow up from the cuban chains video. This absolutely rocks and it settles the age old debate whether to have a watch polished or not!
