Excellent Post. Everything laid out clear and concise. I too love the D3200. Just wish I could find a 2Seemy. Again... very well done. Excellent presentation. Thank You.
Great Timing for your video friend. I am getting back into recording, and have decided to begin mixing my songs in a Computer Based Daw to take advantage of the great plug ins available. ( I previously mixed all my songs in the D3200). I have a Harrison Mixbus DAW that will greatly enhance the mixing process. I love the Korg so I will continue to use it to track, but I need to get the tracks out of it into my PC for mixing.. Look forward to using the WAVE compressors and especially the Abbey Road Plug ins (I am influenced by the Beatles...as many are!) Thanks for your Video, very well presented. Thank you! Jeff
Note that those "LOC 1" ... "LOC 4" buttons have secondary labels in/out/to/end. You mark the source section with in/out and the destination with to/end. Because in this case you copy to the clipboard (which doesn't have a timeline) you don't really have to mark to/end. Note how the "to" has disappeared in 4:52 once you have selected clip as destination.
So if you if you dont want to move all those tracks, just record the master. Then instead of clicking 8 tracks or 16 tracks, click stereo, then click master. Itll send the entire song all together into your computer without having to "glue" your tracks back together in qbase. great video tho man. thanks for the help!!
You are correct. The idea with the single track method is that you can actually remix the song. With a stereo (2 track) file, you can't do that. But it you're happy with the mix, then I totally agree! Thanks for the comment :-)
@@fishpotpete okay I get what youre saying. But if you hold the master volume button til it turns red, then press the record and play button, you can listen to the song and edit the pan and volume of each track and lots more, making the master track complete before sending to the computer. You can also make multiple master tracks. If you want to add more tracks, simply press the master volume button until it turns green again and you are back in track recording mode. You can also add sound effects to the master over all or individually to tracks while you play or after recording that track. Cleaning up "punch in clicks" and hum. Everything you do in qbase you can do in the korg. The only advantage to sending all those tracks and glueing them back together in qbase is that you'll have a bigger screen to adjust timming in tracks that you come in or out of to soon or to late. But if you fade in the volume, you can pretty much fix that as well.
Brilliant thanks so much! Very clear, stepwise well shot instructions. I'm going to use the korg DC3200 to multitrack record my live 7 piece band video now. Chuffed.
Best of luck to you! I did the same thing with our church worship team at the beginning of the pandemic. Worked out great. If you already don't have a video editor, I'd recommend DaVinci Resolve. It's FREE, full featured and super powerful. The "pro" version is used in movies, etc.
Hi there, thank you for the video. I have a question that maybe you can help me. Every time I need to use the auto-punch recording I need to select a range in the Edit Track Wave.... This takes me very long with the Value Dial, even changing the parameters to make it the fastest I could need a minute to move back two minutes back or so.... Do you know if there is a faster way to move inside the Wave line??? thank you very much!
I only used that a couple of times years ago. But I think you use the start/end functions to get you in the neighborhood and then use the value dial. Still time consuming.
@@fishpotpete Thanks for the reply. It was actually the demo song that came preloaded on the disc as "Song 1" with the D3200. FYI. Best of Luck recording and keep it up.
@@agsiegel3 Cool, thanks for letting me know about that! I bought mine used and it didn't have anything except the machine and the manual. I would have tried to get a copy of that had I known!
Hey Pete, I have a question. I have the Korg D3200. I want to move a song I recorded on a CD to my PC, using the KORG. I inported it to a wav file on my KORG but I cannot seem to be able to get it to clipboard to make the in and out as described in your video. I can do what you have described with a song I recorded using the inputs and can burn them to a CD. But how do I get a CD track to export? Thanks for any help you can give Dean Johnson
Hi Dean - Good question! I only used the CD burner to burn backups and for the system work, but I never mixed down/burned anything to it. It seems like what are doing should work, but since I never actually did it. I dont' think I can offer any advice 😒. Maybe someone could come up with an answer here?
I have no idea! But if you think the OS looks similar, then it's probably worth a shot. I can't imagine they would have written an entirely new routine for exporting tracks... but what do I know 😀 Let us know if you try it and if it works! Thanks for asking! I'm sure you're not the only person this would apply to...
Thank you for posting. my D3200 has some great sounds that i am unable to replicate (because I didnt think i needed to take notes for various settings ). Anyway first the CD function just died then the machine just froze up on me. It scared me so bad that i purchased another D3200 used on eBay- on that two of the mic pres were DOA. I used it to copy the old TWELVE songs from the original unit. Lucky too because just after the original froze so bad i had to re initialize it. I finally HAD it with this mess. I got Presonus Studio One Sphere on Monday but what to do about all my Korg work? Then yesterday I found your video (in fact waiting on 32 tracks as i write this) I do have two questions can this be done in Studio One? and when you transfer are the tracks in sync tempo wise?
The optical port will be stereo. It will only "export" the analog stereo signal. So that doesn't my work for exporting the individual tracks... Unfortunately.
Hi For years I have been waiting for someone to wal through this in proper form, but help me out here, the first two songs went to my pc fine, the next song tracks i tried to export said EXCEEDS DRIVE CAPACITY, Im confused , does this means I dont have the space on my PC although the drive capacity shows ample space available, Any reason why this is happening?
This is a total guess on my part: It could be that the "PC(USB) drive" on the Korg is at the default 2GB and needs to be bigger. See my video ruclips.net/video/RnUrvLJNE2U/видео.html. Look at the timestamps in the description (20:39) and that will walk through how you increase that... BUT it might be too late in your case because it does delete everything on the HDD to re-allocate the "PC(USB) Drive". Alternatively, you might be able to burn your tracks to a CD. And Alt-Alternatively, you might be able to select a small group of tracks within the song and output them to the PC(USB) Drive with different names. If you select the correct start/stop points, you should be able to then import them into your DAW in a synchronized manner. So let's say it's an 8-track song. You could output 4 tracks to song A (and then do the transfer to your actually PC) and then the next 4 tracks to song B (and then do the transfer to your actually PC). then you just import the two songs into the DAW. Maybe 🙂. Let us know if that works or not. I'm sure you're not the only person dealing with this!
@@fishpotpete Thanks I will try this. The material is scavenged from the 388 onto the d3200 and there are multiple songs on the d3200 that need to be reprocessed and the thought of losing this material resident on the d3200 is frightening if it remains in this format. lets see what happens ...Thanks again
Hi this is a little bit off topic but has anyone ever received an error message on the D3200. Mine won't let me write songs to a CD any more. It says "unknown fatal error". I'm just wondering if it's fixable. Great video. Thanks.
That doesn't sound good. I'm assuming you've unplugged (not "Off", but unplugged) from the wall for a while (like a day) and turn it back on? You might even try swapping out the CD drive and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, you could open it up and see if there's anything weird going on (bulging caps, burnt resistors, etc.). But the "unknown fatal error" could be a logic error in the processor. Might try reloading the software? I guess I should also ask if there's anything else going on with it? Electrical surge? I've had things go out after nearby lightning strikes - I always leave my gear unplugged if there's a chance of a thunder storm... I've lost several routers through the years due to that (and they were even on surge protectors). Maybe someone else has some thoughts????
@@fishpotpete Thanks for the reply. That's really nice of you. I have not unplugged it yet. I didn't even think of that. I have turned it off and on several times. I deleted some songs because I thought maybe too much space was being taken up. I haven't tried to record anything else yet. But I can still listen to everything fine. I am just afraid to mess with it too much. I sent an e-mail to Korg asking them about it. I've had this thing for like 15 years I think. Many years ago it froze up on me so I turned it off and on again and EVERYTHING got deleted. Tons of songs I had been working on for years just lost. So I had a better hard drive put in and started over. I love this thing because I am not tech savvy at all. I can just plug in and record. But I think it might be time for me to figure out a DAW. I have around 100 songs on my korg so I will be so upset if I lose them. Your video was very helpful.
