I don't get why people hate on Anniversary, it's honestly one of the best tomb raider games. Yes it's not a 1 to one 1 remake, but that's exactly why it feels so fresh. I personally think Legend and Underworld are both way too short (and in the case of Underworld the later levels are also very boring) but Anniversary is just the right length
Anniversary got me into tomb raider. My cousin loved playing the OG series and I was too scared to do any levels beyond Croft manor. It was the first modern remake of a game that I wanted more of that is more common now.
Legend, Anniversary and Underworld I've played them all and to this day they are still games i return to again and again even though I've completed them numerous times.
I really love LAU trilogy. I think graphics looks good even now and I absolutely ADORE soundtracks. The croft manor theme from both legend and anniversary are both my go to soundtrack for relaxing shower snd spa treatment at home or relaxing and chilling in the evening in general.
Playing Order for the Legend Trilogy: Tomb Raider: Anniversary... Tomb Raider: Legend.... Tomb Raider: Underworld. While Legend was released first and contains a backstory chapter from Laura's early childhood, Anniversary acts as a prequel zero chapter. Underworld contains previously met characters from both, so needs to be played last.
Anniversary is a great game tbh but sadly the studio that made the 6 original games and a scrapped anniversary edition : Core design lost the rights to Tomb raider because of the 6th Game : The Angel of Darkness which had probably one of the best lores but because of Eidos rushing the game out to the door , the controls were junky and LOTS of stuff had to be cut , AOD was meant to be the start of a Big Triology but it will never happen.
@ I did manage to get a code for the first set! I’ll try for the next too! Right now I’m planning on maybe 1 weekly Tomb Raider video for the legend trilogy for a while!
Never say never. We know from the achievement list that the AOD remaster includes cut content. There's no telling how much Saber has upgraded the games, but I'm hopefully optimistic on it. The TRI-III and Soul Reaver remasters are both great.
Underworld is a very short game and the controls are buggy and it gets hard to control lara sometimes but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT GAME. I only had to find a way around the buggy and that's it
@@joethealternativegamer3935 Mostly to do with Lara and animations. The amount of deaths you'll have from Lara doing whatever she wants from the movement controls is frustrating at times. They are not refiend and feel very jank at times. They also have new movement options like the wall jump that will also get you killed a fair bit. Again, feels very janky. I've had things just not work while playing, but it's been a while, so I couldn't tell you with certainty other really bad glitches.
@@IchigoLazer I have been playing Underworld on Series S. Some of the puzzles are a little buggy also. And the wall jump doesn’t always work properly. Anniversary had similar control issues in the later levels. There was a swinging wall jump in the last segment of Egypt. That took me forever to finally get.
That wii port is superior because it has lots of added gameplay, like having to use flashlight, do archeological digs and other archeology related motion control mini games
I did play Anniversary, and while I did like some aspects of it, to me it didn't live up to the original. :( A lot of levels got cut and simplified and the platforming on the latest levels felt more frustrating than fun. X_X I didn't like the change on Lara's motivations when she fell in hands of Crystal Dynamics either, but I do understand why there's a lot of people that likes this game. Either way, for me nothing beats the original experience and the original Lara... though I admit that from Crystal Dynamics I enjoy Legend a lot, I really like that one.
@@EQOAnostalgia I wouldn't go as far as to say she was wokeified back then but she was already in the shadow of her dad, doing things because "She was a Croft" instead of doing them for the sake of adventure and thrill. I also didn't like how the fights against humans straight disappeared, the Greece chapter just was not the same without the gun battles against Pierre and I was not a fan of the whole dramatic scene about Lara pulling the trigger against another person when she's never had qualms about pointing her guns at whoever that got in the way to her objective. Then again, that's just me, I liked the anti-hero type of character Lara used to be, how she was unafraid to do 'bad things' and nowdays that's simply a no-no, apparently.
The LAU REMASTERED hype train starts I can’t wait to see how they will remake her model for each game! And adding in that awesome photo mode will be a bonus too Hopefully all dlc is included because Crystal confirmed they were working on getting dlc for underworld (originally Xbox exclusive) so I’m assuming for the remastered collection all modern consoles will get all dlc just like 1-6 did
Oof... just you wait until you reach the Egypt section of the game. In TRA, the controls and the geometry *really* let each other down once the platforming gets more complicated. It's something we didn't really see in Legend, but in the later levels of Anniversary and Underworld, the issue become really obvious. That being said, there are people who love Anniversary and Underworld and who aren't bothered by the platforming issue. I think it all comes down to what kinds of bullshit you can brush off without it hindering your enjoyment. Personally, I took to TR1, 2, 4, and 5's brand of bullshit like water, but when it came to TRA and TRU, their late-level brand of bullshit made me want to break things. YMMV. Hope you have an in-built tolerance for Anniversary's brand of bullshit so you can enjoy it all the way through. :)
I finished this game a couple weeks ago and I didn’t enjoy it as much as Legend, partly because I’m not a fan of massive intricate puzzles and partly because I think it relied a bit too much on Shimmying mechanics to get around. The game felt terrible all throughout my experience on PS2. The game basically plays itself. You don't need to be careful about anything because you get a checkpoint every 15 seconds (yes, literally). Even if you die, you come back to life with a full health bar 5 seconds before your failed jump. All my playthrough I didn't use A SINGLE MEDKIT. You don't need to focus on your Quick Time Events, because they literally start right after the failed one, allowing you to do 10 attempts endlessly, with zero consequences if you somehow fail them.
