    I just replaced the rear tire on my cruiser. It was a bitch. First, do it at waist level. Stabilize the scooter. NOW, what I made helped greatly. I took two pieces of 2x4s about 2 feet long and nailed them together stacked up. Then in the middle I drilled a hole the same size as the hub bolt. This at least stabilized the damned thing. You need to use 2 spoons at 3 and 9 o clock and work them toward you. This is on the top side of the tire. I had to almost stick my spoons all the way into the tire to continue getting leverage as I went. I ended up slightly bending the thin cheesy rim. After I inflated the tire I sprayed Windex around where the rim meets the tire. Where it bent a few little bubbles were showing. I pounded the rim down w a rubber mallet. No more leaks. Honesty those pieces of wood saved the day.

    WHOOOOOO! I just got done replacing the rear tire.
    Let me tell you, it SUCKED, and I've worked on BMW engines for tens of hours before.
    I highly suggest you use STRONG household butterknives, as the automotive tire spoons I bought were just too thick (I used 4 knives, yes FOUR!)
    I placed my new tire in the oven and left it in there for roughly 30min at 250°F.
    I pulled out out, scalding to the touch, and slightly smoking.
    I quickly started putting the tire on the rear motor using only the knives, a small pry tool, and some dishsoap as lube. (and work gloves!)
    After you put the tire halfway on, seating it on the cable side, turn your attention to the non-cable side. Start working the tire on, and under the rim with the knives.
    The first starting knife you will leave in place, the second knife start a couple inches away, working the tire over the rim. Insert a third knife a couple more inches past the second knife, and work the tire over. Now grab the second knife and leapfrog the third knife, working the tire over some more.
    Rinse & repeat leapfrogging the 2nd & 3rd knives while still holding the 1st starting knife in place (all the knives will want to start letting go, losing your tire progress, so you have to hold them HARD, using your gut or a friend to help)
    By the very least few inches of tire still left to work over the rim, it will be INCREDIBLY hard, and you may have to insert the 4th knife, right next to the last knife, to help work the tire over, as one single strong knife, and keep leapfrogging these two last knives right beside each other, until the tire is fully seated!
    When I did it, I was SOOO happy! Albiet, the tire bead was all beat-up, and so was the cruiser rim with scratches & marks everywhere.
    Take the cruiser & newly fitted tire over to an air compressor. You'll need IMMENSE pressure (like 120psi) to blow the new tire bead into place (because the tire might not be sitting correctly on the side you worked with the knives)
    LUBE the tire bead & rim with some more dish soap (you can press your fingers on the tire to let lube drip through) and then CAREFULLY blow high-pressure air into the tire until you watch the tire expand & properly seat the bead!
    Now blow air into the tire to set the correct pressure, and then look/listen for leaks (dish soap lube will show bubbles where leaks are, or just listen for hissing)
    Is it holding air? CONGRATS!! Good job! 👏😄
    If you haven't done it yet, it might be easier to take it to an e-scooter shop or lawn tractor mechanic, as they may have experience tackling a small tire change. If you really wanna test your skills, try changing the tire yourself. YOU CAN DO IT!
    You need to get that scooter running! I hope I NEVER do it again!!
    Godspeed.

  • @davehahn255
    @davehahn255 3 года назад +3

    Went through this and some comments.....first, it is a pain. It is not easy. If you don't have, get some of those spoon tools (3 would be good) because you're going to need them to get the tire on and off. An extra hand will help (and their knee on the tire once you get part of it on). Start with the front tire, because compared to the back one it's easier. The back one isn't going more than a few inches from the scooter because of the power cable for the motor unlike the front where you can work on it anywhere. Also, the axle doesn't come out so you can't lay it flat. A brick or something like that will help keep it flat on one side. Something that isn't mentioned in this video that I ran into....when you tighten the bolts on the back wheel, you can just continue to tighten until it moves the forks inward and change the location of the disc brake where it needs to be in relation to the brake itself. So you can't over tighten. But, what I ran into was getting it tightened at the perfect spot, the bolts did not stay tight. After 5 miles of driving they were loose. Obviously not a good thing. I used locktite (like you have to use on the folding mechanism scews or they are gone after one trip) to keep it in place. If you can take it to a Voro location, you'd be better off. Although a scooter or bike store might be able to put the tires on, not so sure they will be on top of the brakes or the issue with the bolts.

    Scooter tyres may puncture often. You may need to repair it on site. It is not always possible to have a clean work bench to put the scooter on and work with it. This thing is really a nightmare. I don't want to return home by public transport or taxi because of a flat.

      Hey Osman,
      I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your Cruiser. Flat tires can happen, but proper maintenance and preparation helps prevent this. Still, they do happen. We now have tires pre-treated with a gel inside that makes them more resilient to puncture you can find here: www.voromotors.com/products/tubeless-tire-emove-cruiser.
      However, if you are having particular troubles with this, feel free to reach out to our team at support@voromotors.com and I'm sure we can help!

    This project will make you wish you had solid tires. Filling the tire alone is a all day project you will need high pressure compressor to seat the bead. Careful with the valve on the rear if you damage the valve as I did repeat the process and good luck finding that rear valve I think it's a off size but a 1 inch works but seems about 1/8 shorter than the original valve. 1 and a quarter won't fit in thru the back. It's already a pain finding a fitting to fill the rear tire I had to grind the smallest one I could find or use a valve extender just for adding air. There are a lot of bad design problems on the emove cruiser.

      Cutting although seems like the easiest route, but the tires are very tough. So for example:
      1. If you are cutting it horizontally, you will find it difficult to pull the tire apart
      2. If you are cutting it vertically, you will take about 5 minutes to cut through with a really good pair of scissors
      Both options take 5 -10 minutes, if you follow the tutorial closely before attempting, you will take about 5-10 minutes as well.

    • @Mike_Riedel
      @Mike_Riedel 3 года назад +2

      Don't do this, I tried it with a motorcycle tire when I was a younger lad and it was not a good idea. What I didn't think about is that edge of the tire that sits in the rim(bead?) is made up of strands of wire and rubber. Its really strong and hard to cut. You will likely damage the rim worse than you will with all the rage spooning. There is a lubricant for this task called Ru-Glyde. The lubricant is supposedly better because it doesn't re-lubricate like soap does when it gets wet again. I've used it on Motorcycle and its amazing for tough tires. I also always warm the new and old tire in the sun to make my life easier.

  • @harryberry474

    Automotive tire shops use a soapy water solution around the bead of the tire any reason you don't? It really makes installation and removal much easier. Also, any. reason you don't inflate tire before mounting to the scooter because if you don't get a good seal you'll have to remove and install again. IF you don't get a seal use try using a ratchet strap they're pretty cheap and work great (there are RUclips videos showing what it is and how to do it). My biggest concern it damaging the wire going to the motor while changing the rear tire (might be a good idea to duct tape where the wire goes into motor) also pushing the extra cable back into scooter...use a little SILICONE grease it will help with pushing the cable back into battery housing.
    One more thing "tire shield"? Buy a cheap frisbee.

    changing tire is not as easy as it looks... have had my scooter for over a year... and already have replace the tire 3 times... and every time it was a 2 or 3 hour struggle to get the new tire on.... plugs only last so long... id rather a tube tire or a split rim design... much much easier... great scooter but for this reason alone i wont recommend...
