- Homemade watch winder for my automatic watches. 3 volt geared motor turns 14 rpm, 3 volt wall wart, switch and assorted wood/plastic for mount.
Update: I found that a watch winder will not wind a watch that is totally stopped. So need to get watch running before putting on winder. And one source says you need to wind it up all the way before putting it on the winder. Seems to defeat one purpose of putting it on the winder: winding it up for me.
Update: I just started the watch ticking then mounted it on the winder and it does in fact wind it up. So is working as long as the watch starts ticking first.
I used solar cells on mine, so it runs only during the day.
is the watch still working after two weeks of usage?
I haven't used it at all. Haha. I like rewinding my automatic manually and resetting the date. Just part of the routine.
Sir, is the winder still working? after two weeks of usage?
Still working.
Is the clock automatic?
Yes, the watch is an automatic. You can see the rotor swinging on the back of the watch. It would be kind of silly to put a quartz watch on the winder but I suppose siller things have been done.
I found out that if your watch has totally stopped and you put it on the winder, it will not wind it. So need to get watch running before mounting on winder. I also proved this by mounting my watch, letting it stop on the winder, then turning on the winder. Though it ran for an hour, the watch never started running. Another source says you need to wind it all the way up manually before mounting it on the winder. Seems to defeat the purpose of the winder which is to wind it for me. Winder just maintains current wound state of watch. That is dissappointing. This implies that the only purpose of the winder is to keep the watch running but not to wind it up all the way.
