Jeez, McKinney probably had the best season of any Americans abroad and all of the negativity has taken place after the season was complete. This seems more of a media narrative than anything else, he was one of Juves best players...
He was great for Juve but did put some more weight on as soon as the season was over. He looked slow on friendlies and during copa America won 4 out of 22 duels, only created one chance the whole tournament (against Bolivia) and came out with an interview with The Athletic claiming he has issues with pressure and negativity from fans AND turned down the opportunity to play in the champions league. It’s not a media narrative, every outlet is just reporting on what was a very poor summer from McKennie.
Going forward, Liga MX will overpay for good/marketable Mexico dual nats. One to keep them interested in Mexico national team and try to get/keep viewers in the US with Mexican heritage. Not going to be surprised if composition of the Mexico National Team looks like ours with the amount of dual nats in a decade.
