- In this video I'll show you how to Get Maya 2023 for free. Maya is industry leading 3D modelling and animation software and is very expensive. Because it costs so much Autodesk offer a FREE educational license so you can learn how to use Maya 2023 as a student. I will take you through the process of setting up an account and downloading Maya 2023 onto your own PC (or Mac).

Fan of your vids mate. But this is clickbait, you need to say “for students” in your title.
I think whether or not you see this as clickbait depends on how creatively you think. I see lots of opportunities here.

@@Ellisrb you're concentrating too much on the title of the video and not enough on the content. This is where I'd be thinking "who do I know that's in high school or college?" and I'd have it downloaded and installed by now.
Of course if I put it that way in the video I'll have Autodesk on my ass.
There is no reason you can not become a student. All it wants is your college email for me, which to keep active I believe it is one class per year, or it might be one every three years. That is still a huge saving of over 1700 USD a year. (classes at my university are around 300 USD)

Hey, I have a problem. Although I am a student at a secondary school, my school is not qualified by Autodesk because it provides general education and during the school hours we don't work with Autodesk software. Nevertheless, I would really like to gain experience with Maya and use the tool. Is there any other way to get a free license anyway? Kind regards

You know what is the problem? Student from institution is not the real deal user who are hired and become very successful in many companies but the one who cannot afford to go study but learn it with crack software. The software should be free to all who love to learn but company who used crack software should be sue but this is not the case is it?

Looks like they cracked down on the student licence system a little by asking you to provide verification (though you got verified so fast that who knows how legit your documents even need to be). I remember a few years ago all you had to do was just make an account and say you were a “student” lol. I remember just putting in my highschool haha! I wasn’t even aware they still had this program so thanks for the vid!
To be fair I think high school IDs grt verified now anyway
I remember those days also, I was able to get hold of a few 'free' versions of max and maya back in the day that way, even though the last time i was in collage was 2009 :P Thank god for maya indie, or I'd be stuck with Blender (which i can't stand)

I’m not a student but I’m never gonna use it for business purpose either. But a trail won’t gimme the the time to fully try it out. Because my real job and social things to do. Thought this could be like a workaround but it’s not.😊
Funny enough Autodesk decided a year ago to cancel my student license when it was active. 3-year license, expiration 2023, and removed it last year. I didn't notice it because I had it on my laptop and pc. Still active but I upgrade to a new PC and can't activate the license. This sucks since I gave those away. Now I have to buy indie, which is not the end of the world but I sure miss when Maya was free. Blender is looking better than before
well if you still have a student id of yours whether you're in school or not you can make a new account with a new email and get it free for 1 year as longs as the student id has your name and picture on it i just used my high school id just now and it worked ive been done with high school since 2013
@@Cfn_Jman Lucky, I have done that before with my bros high school id but ever since it got cancelled they asked for the transcript as well. I did use his id for years so they probably caught on

The legal way? You could get an Indie Maya license. It's like $300 a year. The not so legal way...well, sail the seven seas, but I would advice against it.

Your title is a bit misleading... it's obvious that anyone with a student ID can download the software for free, but the way you wrote it makes it seem like anyone, regardless of being a student, can get Maya for free
Why not use Blender inst6ead of Maya?
Maya used a lot in industry.
Why not use both?

Also a lot in industry are using/migrating to Blender.
@@talat2k4 Blender is like a swiss army knife, its pretty good at everything, but not the best at 1 thing. Maya is the best for Animation. Max is best for modeling. Zbrush is best for sculpting. Etc etc.

@@talat2k4 that just how it be buddy. Blender is a great piece of software, but I will tell you this now, I wouldn't be working full time as a 3D artist if I learnt blender over maya today. As every gig ive landed they have required me to use Maya in the industry.

I have a student license of Maya 2023 and it does not have export of obj, fbx. I don't know if it has to do with the student license.

Why didn't you start it up because I did every single thing you did on this video but it will not start up or load and when I launch the license manager it says no license is associated with my email address even though I got the SAME EXACT confirmation email you did granting me educational access! I am losing my fucking mind here, it's been two ENTIRE days or struggle, no sleep and constant grief trying to get this up and running on either windows 11 or mac..... no luck and I'm ready to smash my head off the walls.....

There's an indie version of maya (and max) avialable, for about £/$250 a year, only restrictions are you can't work on a project valued over 100k, and your yearly income must be below 100k/year (I think, could be 80k, depends on the region). Other than that, it's a fully featured version of the software, and you can use it for commercial stuff too, something you can't do with a student license.

HOW does Mays know if your Project is over 100K? it sounds like a simple question but it seems nobody can answer it. i mean, does Audodesk have Police that come in like Nazi's and Raid your offices Randomly to make sure you're not making too much money?
i get if you're working in an OFFICE Setting that it could be done, but if you're working from home making 3D Models, selling them online, and making tons of money, how would they know? couldn't you just say you're using Blender? i mean i get it's about "Ethics" but when Ethics and Money Collide, Money is gonna win HANDS DOWN EVERY TIME.

Problem with Autodesk education software is that you cannot do whatever you want with your content ,like a sell and etc.
Here is my question: How do they know? couldn't you just say you made it with Blender? i mean, is anyone *REALLY* Going around and checking to make sure you're not using an Educational version?
@@Glitch-Gremlin nah any 3d model made with Maya Education has a popup thing saying this file was made with the Education version. so as long as you dont send anybody the Maya file, its impossible for them to know
