Apparently they dont like water on top. We're supposed to water it from the bottom. Dunk it in the bucket of water. Dont let water on gren parts at all. Also when u pot it, medium should not touch bulbs at all. That's what i heard
You might want to flip that the other way around (put the hook on the other end). Reason being 1) you have that dodgy bulb which could, if it is bacterial rot, ooze the goop down. 2) the new growths if they rot from being wet, should be at the top where they will ge exposed to more light and air and dry off more easily.
Michael that orchid has been a pain in my ass from day one. It’s never grown well for me. I’ve had it up high with the best air movement and light that it can get. I’m gladly going to trash it and get another one if it doesn’t come back on that mount.
Hey Justin, I know they don't like their roots disturbed and they don't like any kind of sour medium. I mounted mine on a cedar log. I made a groove down the middle and drilled a bunch of holes. It is doing great. I hung it long ways. That way it gets fresh water and it never sits in water. I put a little live moss around it, but not much.
Hey Valarie, wow yours sounds like it’s doing well for you especially being mounted. I really like the flowers on that one and if mine doesn’t make it I will get a replacement. I bet yours looks good on that mount with the live moss.
Hi Justin, I killed one Psychopsis and now have another one with 2 spikes, 2 new growths, is a happy bunny! I find this plant a bit confusing - the roots don't like to dry out at any point, they should be always moist HOWEVER if the new growths as much as smell the water, they rot in no time! My first Psychopsis died quite quickly after it rotted it's 4 new growths and it looked like yours - leaves drying off and twisting, mature bulbs just disappearing... So it might be too late for yours too. But if you decide to get a new one, just be extra careful with new growths, don't let them know you are watering the plant and they'll be fine 😂🤞
Thanks for that advice I really appreciate it. I’ve had nothing but trouble with that psychopsis from day one when I bought it. I really think that orchid just doesn’t like me for some reason lol I’ve really tried to give it the best growing conditions when I grew it under lights in my grow tent to having it here in my greenhouse. But to this point it just hasn’t done nothing but slowly die off. I really love the spots on the foliage and the blooms are very pretty so I hate to lose this orchid but i don’t know what to do at this point but throw the dud on a mount 😺. No seriously I just think that some plants aren’t good growers for me at least. I’m going to order another one when I can find one at a good deal anyways because I really like this orchid. I’ve given it all the requirements that it should need to at least grow up to this point. So 🤷♂️ but I appreciate your advice and maybe I just need to buy another one.
@@justinsorchidsandmore4398 Definitely, some plants are just not vigorous and is not your fault at all that it's dying. I hope you get a new one and a good one to grow on, I love Psychopsis ☺️
I feel like this one has different speed of growing per plant… some grow fast, some grow slow. I would leave it on sphagnum Moss till new roots coming out… but mounting is another option! I do that a lot to see I could save it too.
I made the mistake of getting a seedling and they are such slow growers and right when I found her happy spot she just died from one day to the other. She was an ungrateful little diva, I don’t think I’ll try that again lol.
AHHHH I PASSED OUT! 🤣🤣🤣 Those are like zygo have to be delicate! You have couple new growths so those will kick out new growths. You need to pot it in husk Sunday! 😁
My first one died…same thing..sudo bulbs turned orange and leaves did the same!I didn’t think I was overwatering..but apparently I was!Just purchased another because I wanted to give another go at one!Came in black growers pot so I’m leary because I cant see roots or can tell if it’s moist!Im temped to repot..but the grower says they seem to like neglect..to almost dry out. This goes against everything I read on how to care for these??So wish me luck on this one!
Hey Christine, Ive had a lot of problems with that orchid and still to this day I’m having problems with it. I had a good friend of mine order me another one, it’s a seedling. It’s doing good so far. I really hope that you have luck growing that one. Keep me posted on how it’s doing my friend and I will keep you posted on mine as well. Have a good weekend and thanks for sharing..
Well that one is just some drift wood that I found by a nearby river that we have here in South Carolina where I’m from. You can always go around lakes or rivers and find pc of dried out drift wood, orchids love them. In fact I’m going to be posting a video later on today where I mounted a phal on a pc of that same river drift wood. But mounting on cork is just as good as well.
It might not be a vigorous grower to start with, nothing to do with your care. When they are not good, there is nothing we can do. Good luck, fingers crossed 🤞🍀
I totally agree with you Fernanda on that one. Some plants are just weak growers. Sorry I haven’t been around much to watch everyone’s videos like I used too. I’ve been really busy back at work. But I hope all is well with you my friend and happy growing.
Hey bud, welcome to my channel I really appreciate the sub. Sadly mine is not doing any better either. I do have a replacement that’s doing fine. It’s a seedling but hopefully I can grow it better than I did with that one. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment. I hope you like my videos. I try and post a couple times a week.
I would've removed the rust colored old bulb sprayed with hydrogen peroxide, mounted with fluffy coconut husk fiber and sprinkle some rooting hormone powder on it......I have a seedling and keeping a close eye on it, if you can grow oncidiums, and zygos you can grow those....mounted is the best choice for your orchid so it can dry out better...
Ive worked 58 hours this week and have grown orchids for over 15 years. If that plant doesn’t grow better on that mount it’s going in the trash and I will get stronger one. Some plants are just weak growers. Some are stronger growers. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment my friend. I hope you have a good weekend.
Actually I think your right by that like seriously. I wish I would have killed it. I kinda feel like it was nesting and always eating at the roots. Thanks for pointing that out by the way. 👍

Lmao lol you Preston you might just be right with that comment my friend 👻. That plant has never done well for me. It drives me nuts but if it doesn’t do well on the mount it’s on it way out the door:

Yea that plant is a fussy one to grow for sure. I’d buy a mature one over a seedling any day out of the week.

I gave mine away, was not worth a hustle (to me). probably not the one for heavy waterers
Do have an update for this video ?

The rooting hormone power kill two of my orchids one psychopsis and one Catleya ,
