OMG, Michael, I am so grateful to have found your channel recently. You have given me so much courage. You are my orchid hero! I am new to growing orchids because I was so afraid (especially since I live in the high desert area of Albuquerque). One day last year, I walked past the floral area in my local Albertsons and a mini phalaenopsis reached out and grabbed me. She had picked me! Within a year now I have 5 phalaenopsis that all have been blooming since this last Christmas season. You have given me the strength and courage to go ahead and repot my phals into semi-hydro as they each finish blooming and go into their growth stage. Thanks again to you and also to all of the wonderful people here who follow you. Sending out much love and thoughts of health and happiness to everyone. Stay safe!
I’m in Taos and my orchids are all thriving. There is a wonderful orchid shop in Santa Fe called New Earth Orchids. The owner is very knowledgeable and has an incredible selection of both mounted and potted orchids. His website doesn’t begin to show what he’s got. Good luck with your orchids!
I just got this orchid a couple of months ago. One of the leaves was losing the mottling and I thought it was getting too much light. You just saved me from a journey down the wrong light path! Love your videos and your passion for orchids!!
I just purchased my first ‘Hildos’, due in large part to your video! It’s not quite blooming size, but I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you. You’re comment at the end about your orchid friends helping you to get through these tough times really resonated with me as well. Be well, friend.
I just received my first one a week ago, and I love it! It's quite a young plant and potted in a very small (2 1/2") plastic pot that does have holes in the bottom but no slits on the sides. Because it is now late Spring (May) I am very tempted to transplant it into a 3" pot now. So it has all Summer to recover. Loved your presentation Michael! 😉😉
So happy to have discovered your channel. I’m a lover and owner of orchids as well. You have reignited my passion and I’ve decided to follow your lead and seek out new orchids to join the family🌺🌼🌸
I love your videos, your energy and love of your orchids is fantastic. So helpful are your videos, I watch them all. Love how you keep track of everything, try new things. I now have to get one of these. Your so positive.
This is a very helpful video, thank you so much. I have one of these beautiful orchids on the way. I’ve been growing Phalaenopsis for a little over a year now and got mine to bloom after some trial and error lol. I decided to give one of these a try. I’ve been wanting this Beaty for a while now and finally felt ready to try 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Yours is gorgeous 😍
I was looking for orchids to purchase and thos one popped up and I ended up purchasing it. I just received it and I'm super excited especially after seeing yours
This orchid is so gorgeous! I was able to get into a local orchid shop today and purchased this one based solely upon the beautiful leaves. The shop owner expressed that the flower is spectacular but didn’t have one in bloom. I am thrilled to see your video and that amazing flower! Thanks for your always helpful information and enthusiasm. I can’t wait for mine to bloom! ❤️
Hi Michael! I’m excited to see your psychosis in bloom. Mine finally produced a flower spike which is about 6 inches tall right now. Can’t wait, but have to, right?
Love it 😍 I'm so excited as I bought a psychopsis mariposa var alba for my birthday and it's in bud! 🤗🤗🤗 I'm not sure how to tell if it has bloomed before on that same stem. Do you know how to tell?
I love your videos so much Michael ❤️ I’m curious as if your feeding schedule as changed or the amount of fertilizer that you give to your orchids have changed now that it’s spring time. 😊 Happy growing Michael and I hope that you post more content soon. Love you ❤️ 🌱
I'm watching this at the end of August, I hope you're still fairing well during Lockdown. You mentioned you are using an LED grow-light now, so I'm curious about the length of time you give it light?
Hi Michael. I am so enjoying your videos! I only have one orchid; a housewarming gift, which I am nursing back to health, thanks to your videos. For my birthday this month I would like to treat myself to a second. Where would you suggest I order from? Thank you so much for your suggestions and for your informative and entertaining videos!
Exactly what I was wonder. I have gone through so many videos but NO ONE wants to tell you about , Temp, light , water, fertilizer , you know the important stuff we need to know Gezzzzz
Spectacular orchid! I got a baby one about 2-3 months ago. I potted him in semi water culture with leca. His leaves still look great with good spotting, but he hasn’t grown a smidge. I see some encouraging root growth, but nothing else. Do they just grow slug slow? I’m impressed by the size of yours. How long did that take?
Thank you again Michael for the information. I haven't visited your channel for a long time. I have a very young psychopsis and wanted suggestions on medium. I was uncertain if leca was the correct decision. Most of my oncidiums are in leca. On a separate issue, I am really struggling with my Zygos. Do you have any and what is your method?
You can really use anything you want. A Google search for clear orchid pots will provide many options, some with slots all the way around and an air cone in the center and others with only bottom holes. You can also purchase food containers. Making the holes is done with a heated nail or a soldering iron.
Hey Michael, my phalaenopsis started blooming. Just when the blooms opened up they fell off all five blooms. Q. Any idea why this happened and how can I prevent this from happening in the future
Some things to check for: healthy root system, no hot or cold drafts, adequate light, fertilizer and water, no change of location and no rotating the plant (keep it in one location and always try to place it back facing the same direction).
just a bit of advice. this channel is all about orchids. so when your talking about them, show them. i know a lot of people want to get their face out there but besides a quick, say 30 second intro, and your sign off, just show the plant. show pictures you have of it from when you got it and that you've taken over the years. where you grow the plant in your home would answer a lot of viewers questions about light and such. not saying that you are not great but people come here to see the orchids. at the very least have the plant in frame with you when your talking about it. also, and this may just be me, but it might be a better idea to film videos in your growing area. the sparse bedroom completely void of any plants doesn't get across to the viewer your love of orchids and seriousness. psychologically, filming in your bedroom with only the bed and you in frame defiantly doesn't emphasize the message your going for. it's a bit tacky for a video about orchid cultivation. all in all i love your channel. just a small critique.
Love the leaves. Psychopsis named after goddess Psyche - the wife of Eros, who had had butterfly wings.
Good to know. I just got one through Ebay, should get it in about 1 week or so. Very excited.
What a *Wonderful Tribute* to this unusual Hybrid. Hope I live long enough to see mine bloom.

This guy is sooooo nelly. The psychosis is is flawless. She really enjoys her "multiple exposures." "Tweety Bird Yellow" should be a Crayola color.

Is this a cool growing or warm growing orchid?
Does it like to stay moist or dry out between waterings?
Exactly what I was wonder. I have gone through so many videos but NO ONE wants to tell you about , Temp, light , water, fertilizer , you know the important stuff we need to know Gezzzzz

I just got two of these in plant mail today. Any idea how large the need to be before blooming?
where did you get it?

Congratulations it's beautiful ! You might want to stake the spike so you don't have an accident. They can bloom on the same spike for years.
Filming in the bedroom? Hubby must be working in the main room.
