      @Teilnehmer 2 года назад +5

      Alex Jones isn't really psychotic. He is ranting, incoherent and frightening but not really psychotic. A psychosis is a debilitating and very severe mental illness and people who are throwing the terms psychosis around willy-nilly are doing a great disservice to people with mental illness.
      A good distinction I have found is from a Harvard Lecture on schizophrenia about the cross cultural context of a psychotic episode or hearing voices as hallucinations. The context was an African tribe who regularly dances ritually, in trance and who hear voices during that. So why or what point is someone from that tribe considered "insane" if they hear voices? The answer was its not about hearing voices it's about "hearing voices at the wrong time". Context really is key to determining psychotic behavior. There are lots of behaviors that could be considered psychotic when taken out of their social context.
      Everything Alex Jones is doing is totally fine within the context of his show and his public persona. His audience knows this, they are ok with it, they don't care. His behavior is not suddenly inappropriate. In fact a good portion of his audience is probably fine with this behavior - most probably suspect that a lot of his rage is probably faked.

      Ivermectin was also identified as a promising agent against the alphaviruses chikungunya, Semliki Forest and Sindbis virus, as well as yellow fever, a flavivirus [5]. Moreover, a new study indicated that ivermectin presents strong antiviral activity against the West Nile virus, also a flavivirus, at low (μM) concentrations [6]. I think the difference here is this. Trump has convinced himself that he couldn't lose anything ever. I really believe he thinks "Sleepy Joe could never beat me." Mike Pillow I think has been deceived by Trump and the people around him. I think that genuine belief is part of what made and makes Trump so dangerous, and I think it is why people believe Mike Pillow, because he is being completely sincere. Alex Jones on the other hand has testified in court that he doesn't believe the content of his shows, and that it is just "entertainment." And I actually believe that testimony (about the only thing Alex ever said that I believe). I think Alex Jones doesn't buy what he is selling, but is willing to go the extra mile to bring home the bacon. Besides, he probably figures a single does of IVM for an adult human shouldn't be too bad (if he did take it) and any mild side effects are worth the money from his fans. I bet Alex starts a relationship with one of the telehealth companies. Alex is just a grifter, nothing more. In some ways it makes him "worse" than Trump and Mike Pillow, but in others it makes him less dangerous.

      Freedom of speech is such an intricate part of the founding principles of the United States revolutionary movement and therefore the Bill of Rights that it is very difficult to win a slander case in a court. If a person claims that a statement was made based on a genuine belief, with or without evidence, you cannot win a slander case. The burden is on the claimant to show that the slanderous statement was made with knowledge that it was false before the statement was made.
      The Constitution makes it hard to stop crazies like this from making celacious statements, but the same rules protect the citizens from monsters like Trump that threaten libel suits at the drop of a hat.
