Been playing this for a few weeks now,
Obviously in closed beta, so this may change in future. Although with Gajin's track record I wouldn't bet on it.
TLDR; If your idea of fun is days upon days of heavily contested resource grind with boring, repetitive point and click combat., an unengaging storyline that you just spam E to get through and 90% just travelling between points. This is your game. Fingers crossed this game gains some substance and quick.
The good;
Fun concept, Basically waterworld, it's
Fitting out your boat is fun
Nice artwork
Addictive
The bad;
Laggy, controls stop working randomly
No balance - you can have up to 20 boats just randomly spawn around you and instantly sink you - not fun
Basically a grind. Essentially take your boat to a distant location, talk to someone (spam E) then repeat for the next "objective"
Very little documentation/guidance, if you get stuck there's nothing to help you.
Hardly worthy of a being called a PC game tbh, basically a mobile game in disguise.

I feel like the game needs to let you capture ships without needing a toolbox I had 3 they gone… but I feel like finding metal and all those materials to fix your ship is just about impossible you can get like 2 or 3 for every 10 kills or something idk it’s probably me but the game is awesome

IT does a bit, Shame about LO. The devs murdered it. I only had 1 proper evening with a team attacking other walkers. You can't get out your boat on this game so its a different dynamic

90% of the trailer is gameplay (everything except for a few seconds in the beginning)
It did not show what the game is. It was just a quick mash of tiny clips, not game play. I want to see the game in a game trailer.
@@RifRafJonesy Absolutely any other gameplay trailer is like that, because it has to show a lot of gameplay in a short period of time. You should probably wait for game streams to take a look at the uncut gameplay.

@@DJB10T1C I dont think you know. How can you look at a 2-3 sec snip of "game play" and know the game? I saw avatars running around, I saw boats fighting and I saw what looked like base building. With all of that, they didnt "show" anything. Get hyped and pay for early access, it wont hurt my wallet for you to do that. I'm a solid "you are nuts to buy into this without knowing what you are getting". Besides all that, its gajin. Still getting review bombed for greedy WT changes. I think I can safely say this game will have a strong p2w model. I may try it eventually, but seriously doubt I will ever play it regularly. Kudus for this awesome music trailer they made thou, its clearly generated the hype it was intended to make..., and the bois jump on the hype train and ride it.

@@Hikari_Sakurai yeah because its the norm now, me as a single person is not going to change anything by not buying the product, im jsut missing out on the fun i would of had if i did that for no reason, plus its not pointing a gun at your head to use the shop, its there, leave it or use it, your choice. It just the way the gaming industry has become, and in no way im saying i like micro trasactions, im just not gonna leave that one reason stop me from enjoying a game i wanted to play, so you do you and ill do me, doesnt make a difference either way.

according to one dev, they are going to try and limit the p2w. but of course they have to make money as well. i think their biggest money maker will be selling resources for premium currency. Which, really will be a win for all, even if you do not purchase anything as it will be less people competing for resources. but there will be also a lot of purchases that do nothing except for cosmetics. like different paint, horns, lights etc that give no advantage over anyone else.
