- An upgraded video of grayscale painting since lots of you are interested in it AND this video ACTUALLY teaches you on how to paint grayscale as a beginner from a beginner myself, comparing to my previous grayscale painting video (which is a total mess hahaha). Leave a comment if you have better tips in using this method

When I used to use photoshop, I experimented with coloring grayscale artwork as well as photos. I generally used a combination of a gradient map and multiple color palettes. For example, to color the skin, I'd get a skin color palette (usually from ColorHunt), put it into a gradient map, fiddle with the gradient map controls until I get it the way I like, then experiment with the layer mode (multiply, soft light, overlay, etc.). Once I'm satisfied, I give the layer a mask and paint black in the areas I didn't want the gradient map to cover. This was a long process since I had to make a gradient map for different sections (skin, clothes, eyes, etc.), but the beauty of it is I could change the colors anytime with little issue. In other words, time consuming at first, but highly customizable in the long run. As far as I know, Krita has yet to fully have this feature, but maybe in the future? Or perhaps it has a different way of doing it? I've only completed 2 colored pieces using this method, but I really liked the results, so I'm hoping I can do this in Krita some time in the near future.
Overlay is good blending mode too.
