This video is an eye-opener! For someone who feels really unsocial in college because they don’t listen to DHH, don’t wear fancy sneakers, or don’t use Gen-Z slang while having convo with others, this is nothing but a reflection of a society that has been consuming the mimetic desires of influencers. Scapegoating someone for being the top 1% in the room, and constant comparison between you and your admired individuals-Ik it won’t change the people around you, but it will shape you with a new perspective on philosophy and life!

I am 14 and this is deep wish more people from my generation could appreciate this. Jealousy is the only feeling where not the person who gets affected by it are we ourselves. We let that ignite or spark grow into a big tree of jealousy, agony, anger towards that human, thing & it can be literally anything. Desires make or break. Happy to see that tech guy made a video on this. Loved this piece.
It doesn't just have to be that. If jealousy lets me get an object then I will be jealous. Why would I not be? After all I'm just as good as the other person, and he just happened to be lucky. Philosophies like these are only good for story telling and would fail practical purposes. If there's no real meaning behind any philosophy we are just coping.
Almost 30 minutes. I have no idea about how much information people retain after 30 mins but it is a great escape from the 30 to 60 second reel junk. That is the beauty of longer content. As always aevy and varun 🔥
Man's quest for personal identity is in conflict with the harmony of the world. The same cycle repeating endlessly with seemingly no end. He wants connection yet can't commit out of fear of his own nature of infinity. So, a shared framework is what he hates but is eventually pigeonholed into. Great video Varun you've captured the essence of what's seemingly permanent but lasts very temporary. Your point of it being not about the object but the person's obstacle also makes us not see the origin of how things are made and that leads to Winner takes all and an extractive approach. Scapegoating also makes sense why cringe content is working and being watched by people even though they are so not like them. So given all the bodies of knowledge he is never able to make peace with the alien something that is outside the bounds of his knowledge. I hope this comment did justice and kept people longer in the video. Thank you for reading!!
The amount of wisdom in this video is insane. And I must mention the storytelling through video and the choice of words...its just so engaging. Theres so much to learn here, not just the moral of the video, but a lot more than that. Awesome work team Varun👏🏻

Some drawback in the philosophy (*i feel): 1. Reducing complex phenomena of violence, societal conflicts and religion to just memetic desires & scapegoating mechanism. 2. Buddha scapegoat is Kingdom for Memetic Desire but also for personal enlightenment & cessation of suffering. 3. Every thing is not just the Memetic Desire: yes, dhoni six in wc11 ignites the spark for me to play cricket but it was love for the game that pushed me to still play. I no longer play for being him, I play for being ME. 4. Individuality Difference. What about Innovation. Lack Practical Solutions. Love the fact, that you generalized the mimicry of Girard's philosophy♥
Agreed! My criticisms are: 1) We can NEVER truly know what our real "desires" are just like we can never truly know who are we as a person. Every part of us is influenced by something or the environment we grew up in. Our personality, thoughts, beliefs, perspectives, etc. and so are desires. We can never truly know ourselves and our desires literally in its purest sense so while this philosophy is a good food for thought but is not practical and you'll just waste your life finding answers you can never have. Everybody hopes for a good life and so there's nothing wrong if it's an inspiration/influence from someone else's life. Living a good life is all that matters. 2) We can NEVER truly escape or be free of our desires and will forever be a slave to something. For instance, even your wish to be free of your desires to find "spiritual enlightenment" is a desire in itself. So choose desires which are necessary for your growth & development as a human and satisfies your soul (just like cricket in your case :)). It doesn't matter if it's inspired/influenced from someone else's. Growth and satisfaction through such experiences is what makes life truly meaningful.
yes varun what you've just told us in 30 mins- it's good but you just can sit in front of the camera and explain it. the visuals and the sounds are the main problem when i was listening to you. why?- because, i was not able to imagine in my head bcz of sfx and visuals. and for the people who still haven't rotted their brain- it's good to just listen somebody with focus or just read some texbooks. edit- i'm a video editor myself

René Girard’s mimetic theory is undeniably fascinating and offers a unique perspective on human behavior, especially in understanding conflict and societal structures. However, I feel it oversimplifies the complexity of human motivations by reducing them largely to imitation and scapegoating. While mimetic desires might explain how we are influenced by others, they cannot account for the depth of personal growth, creativity, or spiritual pursuits. Take, for example, the Buddha’s journey-it wasn’t merely about mimetic desire or rejecting what others valued. His quest was deeply personal, driven by the pursuit of enlightenment and the cessation of suffering. Similarly, in daily life, while imitation might spark an initial interest, the driving force behind sustained effort is often intrinsic. Watching Sachin’s six in WC might inspire someone to pick up cricket, but continuing to play and love the game often stems from a genuine passion, not just a desire to mimic. The theory also struggles to address individuality and innovation. How do new ideas emerge if all desires are borrowed? Think of groundbreaking inventions like the light bulb or the internet-these weren’t just imitations but bold steps into the unknown. Mimetic theory, while insightful, seems to focus more on why we want what others have and less on how we create something entirely new. Finally, its practical applicability feels limited. It’s excellent for explaining why we might desire what others desire, but how does it help us navigate the modern challenges of fostering individuality, solving conflicts, or encouraging innovation? I think human behavior is a mix of mimetic tendencies, intrinsic curiosity, and a deep yearning for meaning-something no single theory can fully explain.

What if we make a country run like a Corporate? (Hypothesis) I have noticed that no one in a political party is generally held accountable for the promises they break (the promises they only made to gather votes and compete with other parties). Political parties in a democracy compete against other parties to get the seat (even by making fake promises), whereas parties in a dictatorship regime have no competition at all (sometimes not even inside their own parties). In a company like Google, every individual is responsible. If something bad happens to the company, then Sundar Pichai will lose his job. If something bad happens in a specific department, then the department head will lose their job, and there will always be someone eagerly waiting to take over their seat. This signifies an environment of accountability, which is often missing within many political parties. If model of an MNC is implemented on a country, will it make things better? Or worse? Just like this model where: 1) CEO works like a president and will be chosen by a committee, just like in a corporate company. [They will take every step responsibly, as they can be removed for any wrong move they make, given that there are many others hungry for this position.] 2) Committee (people in this position will first join as employees, but after showing good performance and competing with others, they will reach this position). 3) Employees/Managers (will be the 3rd pillar of the structure). [Promotions will motivate them to work even better. Their ultimate goal is to become a committee member.] 4) Citizens/Shareholders (influences the actions taken by the committee). In this model: Leaders will focus on measurable goals and long-term outcomes rather than making populist promises to win votes. This reduces the risk of short-sighted policies aimed only at gaining public approval. The model will also be data-driven and motivated to maximize the profits of shareholders. Can this model work? Or will this just be a mess?
Language is something which makes people belong with a community and kannadigas and recent anti hindi rheotic is related to that to bigger extent@@unknown-rn1vn
@@unknown-rn1vn Kannada language chauvinism, viewed through René Girard’s mimetic theory, can be understood in terms of desire, rivalry, and scapegoating: 1. Mimetic Desire: Kannada chauvinists often desire linguistic dominance not inherently but because other languages (e.g., English, Hindi) hold perceived prestige. Their insistence on Kannada’s primacy is partly an imitation of the dominance they see in those languages. 2. Mimetic Rivalry: The push for Kannada’s supremacy arises from competition with languages seen as threats (e.g., English for education/jobs, Hindi for national integration). This rivalry intensifies when Kannada speakers see their language being sidelined. 3. Scapegoating Mechanism: Outsiders (non-Kannadigas, migrants, or speakers of other languages) may be blamed for Kannada’s decline, turning them into scapegoats for broader socio-economic frustrations. 4. Sacred vs. Profane: Language is elevated to a near-sacred status, and any dilution (e.g., mixing languages, preference for English) is seen as profaning cultural identity, leading to aggressive protectionism. Thus, Kannada chauvinism isn’t just about language but a deeper mimetic struggle for identity, prestige, and survival. Acc to ChatGPT

don't keep white background, its pain to our eyes and we can adjust brightness every scene @0:16
I disagree. Not everyone watches RUclips at night with lights off
It's the creator's choice how their content should be viewed.
You want a dark background with light content.
Change your phone 😂
I'm 19 and i had same openion nothing was new in this video, thanks to ancient wisdom and my brains circumstances that lead me to think critically.
Great presentation 🎉
(My problem is I don't find anything interesting now, everything like money, pleasures and studies)
What if we make a country run like a Corporate? (Hypothesis)
I have noticed that no one in a political party is generally held accountable for the promises they break (the promises they only made to gather votes and compete with other parties).
Or worse?
Just like this model where:
1) CEO works like a president and will be chosen by a committee, just like in a corporate company. [They will take every step responsibly, as they can be removed for any wrong move they make, given that there are many others hungry for this position.]
2) Committee (people in this position will first join as employees, but after showing good performance and competing with others, they will reach this position).
3) Employees/Managers (will be the 3rd pillar of the structure). [Promotions will motivate them to work even better. Their ultimate goal is to become a committee member.]
4) Citizens/Shareholders (influences the actions taken by the committee).
In this model:
Leaders will focus on measurable goals and long-term outcomes rather than making populist promises to win votes. This reduces the risk of short-sighted policies aimed only at gaining public approval.
The model will also be data-driven and motivated to maximize the profits of shareholders.
Can this model work? Or will this just be a mess?
Bro literally said what i wanted to say for so long
Religion and Thoughts were so on point, it is a tool we created!
Bro explained the banglore kannadigas problems in technical and understandable words,, now I can feel them🥲
Can you explain?
Language is something which makes people belong with a community and kannadigas and recent anti hindi rheotic is related to that to bigger extent@@unknown-rn1vn
As in?
Scapegoating the outsiders who can't speak kannada just because they are doing better than kannadniggas in Bangalore
@@unknown-rn1vn
Kannada language chauvinism, viewed through René Girard’s mimetic theory, can be understood in terms of desire, rivalry, and scapegoating:

Hare Krishna ❤
This has almost opened my eyes, thanks Varun bhaiya for this wonderful video ❤
Hey varun use 2:1 aspect ratio. Would be much sexier. Would cover full screen and no black box around. And it gives the cinematic vibe
Works well for laptop tv phone all screens
Bhai yahi baat original comment may complete kar sakte thay so why doing it in reply section ? Whatever the reason maybe but it is aatmanirbhar act for sure 😂

14:50 It reminds me the Code geass Story.
true master piece it opened up reality that most of us have forgotten in rat race of the world.
Mr varun maya you have popped a huge bubble in our desiree. im glad to see your video thanks for happening it ❤
This video kinda explains everything we do, why it is bad but at the same time important for the growth of the society, it was a masterclass .
THANK YOU for making the content that you make it gives me a new perspective to look at things and understand better
Following u for more than 2 years now, hands down one of the best videos u've made
This is possibly the best one I've seen in a while!
Man! This video is some level! The energy, the clicks sound the editing. It’s power packed. I am glued ❤
after watching the video this will come out from the bottom of my heart as this gives me a sense of peace now.... I love you man!
The surprising thing is I was watching your wife's videos unknowingly and subscribed to your channel and hers as well what a strange world I found the content of both the channels relevant to me.
Amazing! There are only a few pieces of content on social media that truly leave you with a sense of wonder and amazement. The fact that something so complicated is explained in such simple words is truly commendable, and the editing takes it to a whole different level. I hope to see more content like this!
This is well articulated! I was trying to figure out the pieces and this made me to feel like that doesn’t even really matter. I completely feel like a new perspective with a whole another perspective and derivative. Thank you Varun for making this video! ❤
00:00 One of the best I have watched in You Tube . I just want to say Thank You Varun bhaiya. Highly recommended .
Watched the vid once and barely got like 40%, Definitely one of those you gotta rewatch a few times to fully get
After watching the whole video, I remember SRK said, "First become the rich, then the philosopher ".. I really don't know why this thought popped up my mind... But amazing informative video🎉🎉❤
The fact that this video has less reach and less engagement is the indicator of what people are willing to watch. I was lucky( or should i say, prepared and got opportunity) to watch this.
Seriously I am starting to love your videos. I was once criticizing your videos (not in comments). But now everything seems to make sense. Great eye opening video.
Four minutes in, and i must say the production quality is absolutely insane!
This is the best video I saw on RUclips after using the app for 10yrs
Just you and I know I have to watch it. Loved the video, learned a lot, thanks Varun.
that was awesome man... literally speech less, thanks to letting us know about René Girard, straight to his book... i would never ever guised the existence of a research in desires and its influences on our society, thank again man, i actually came here after aevy tv post on their channel (i promise that i already subscribed this channel before) and realized that i didn't enable the notification, now i do, im expecting different kind of contents like this on internet and this channel, so have a great time..
VARUN MAYYA - level 9 _maya se mukti😌❤🔥
Wow man, this is the one of the best learning i ever had in such a simple manner.
I watch lot of youtube, various content creators from across the world and yours video depiction and video editing in Top! Easily one of the best
Wow, this video really blew my mind! I’ve often wondered why our ancestors emphasized an afterlife-especially since we don’t remember our past lives-and why holy books rely on stories to teach morals. It’s something I’ve thought about a lot in my own quiet moments, and your explanation helped connect so many dots for me. Thank you so much for sharing this; it truly answered questions I’ve been carrying around for a while!
Woah!
Banger Video :)
❤
I really got overwhelmed by knowing so much things in less time.
Anxious for part 2😊
The Final lesson & word "Bye" are so nice!!
When ever you start your day, tell yourself i am not here to prove myself before somebody. I want to make myself happy. Do that for 1 month and slowly you will know yourself and find your IKIGAI
Ikigai is an epic book
Would recommend everyone to read it
Hey everyone! I'm a teenager just starting my journey toward financial freedom, and I'd love some advice from those with experience. What are the best ways to learn and improve? Any beginner-friendly tips or resources? I’d really appreciate any guidance. Thanks!
Figure out the sector you are interested in they are literally many opportunities
That was amazing experience.
When a man speaks with knowledge, the duration doesn't matter. Listeners keep consuming information.
Thank you to the whole production team.
The Validation I recieved here for having lesser and meaningful desires in life, ones which drive to my core values only is so calming.
Thanks Varun.
Couldn't admire and respect you more. Wish to be competent and more importantly wise enough to work along with you someday day. ✌😇
this video, insane. i just appreciate how varun(probably his team too) knows so much about all these.
they go so wide to get a to very specific point. love it.
