I’m extremely sorry for everyone who’s suffering from the wildfires that went crazy throughout this beautiful country/city! I have a brother & sister-in-law who live there as well. And I was thinking about them daily & nightly! I’m glad I wasn’t there because I would’ve been in tears 😭! My ♥️really & so deeply go out to everyone of you people who had nothing to do with causing this. 🤝🙏L♥️VE TO YOU ALL IN KELOWNA; B.C. May Almighty God be with everyone of you! People in my church also have relatives who live there & are praying 🙏 very much for God to step in & help & keep everyone safe! Your lives are most valuable & important!!!

I lived in this region and other BC neighbourhoods that are forest fire interface areas. After my own evacuation, in upcoming seasons during the high fire risk I was always prepared to evacuate. I had fireproof safes, a plan for my pets with the neighbours if I wasn't home when fire approached, and an overnight bag in my vehicle at all times.

So sad to hear Tod lost his home. Im down the road from him at lacasa. So far all is good there because of the amazing fire fighters. My sympathy to those that have lost their homes, the count is something like 200 so far and if we take into account other places in our province and Alberta the amount will be staggering. After the big complex fires in our area a few years we have go bags and important papers etc ready to go. All my pictures are on backup disks which are stored in my car along with a second go bag in case we are away and we take a video of our home and property before fire season starts for insurance purposes, it never fails to be prepared, but until it happens to you none of us know how we will react in the moment. ❤🙏🙏to those effected by this horrific fire season and it's not over yet. Also a huge thank you to all our firefighters and their families who have given up their summer to keep us all safe.

A cottage is different than losing your main residence. If you can afford both a cottage AND a main residence in BC, you’re doing ok. Don’t worry - your celebrity has insurance and will get his money back.

I'm guessing many people will be re-assessing their planned real estate "investments" in BC. Maybe some sanity can return to house prices as we realize homes are places to live in - not profit-making ventures.

This is the 2nd time for Kelowna, what building code rules changed if any, one of the few houses left standing last event used roofing tiles and was Mediterranean style construction. Hardy board which is fire proof siding, eaves troughs that can be water filled in emergencies, trees right next to your houses that are like torches. I’m sure many inexpensive common sense ideas can reduce the chance of this happening again. Now we all wait for our next insurance premium to increase double digit.

There is absolutely no reason with a lake in the front yard for those homes to be lost! It's a shame that there is such a lack of prevention in our province! There used to be 1 plane that could have saved these homes but the governments would rather watch it burn.pumps and sprinklers could have help also.
