I am so proud of my daughter. She is 8. After watching her brothers graduate. Her goal now is to valedictorian. Now that is a goal. Not all girls have the same dream.
Not getting the best education she could possibly get and maybe "Enlightenment" but beating everybody else in the class. Fundamentally flawed perspective.
@pinkfloydfan417 No, you are not wrong. Thank you God, someone of the younger generation is listening. Most excellent. To quote the old knight from Indian Jones and the Last Crusade "You have chosen wisely." Dennis is the Grandmaster of the obscure reference. Peace and keep listening.
Can you imagine getting into an argument with this guy? Even if you were in the right, with facts and logic on your side...he's still going to eviscerate you, and leave you confused and agreeing with him...
People who say he is unfunny -- you either "get it" or you don't. I don't get every single obscure reference of his either, but those who don't like his humor don't get him at all, and we will leave it at that! One thing he can never be called is unintelligent.
I always found it fun to see if I got every one of his references. I ran a respectable 90%+ or there abouts. Of course before the internet blew up a fine stack of encyclopedias was required to look up the ones we didn't initially get.
Reportedly his Political views changed after 9/11. He's still doing Comedy and Acting now but in smaller doses. (He was a Judge in the Ashton Kutcher movie "What Happens in Vegas" and most recently had a small guest spot in the Hawaii Five-O remake on CBS as a Douchey Radio DJ that gets blown up.)
By his own admission, Dennis always had some conservative leanings, but he also said 9/11 definitely changed him. He's still to the Left on abortion and homosexuality, but he's also one of the few celebs who openly supported George W. Bush when the Iraq War first broke out.
This rant better in his audio, the reaction to the penis enhancement joke though, is priceless. Listen carefully to the woman in the audience with the obnoxiously loud, forced, I-don't-get-it-laugh.
Just 18 eh, and already willing to make your screen name pinkfloydfan? You sound like me 5 years ago, as you can tell by my name, my favourite artists. I would also like to thank you for you grammar, it's so reassuring to know there are people out there like me and my friends. Also you should add Dane Cook in the league with Demitri Martin. Keep on keepin on man.
Wow, people commenting on a RUclips vid that I would actually want to meet IRL. I wasn't sure they existed. Figures they would show up on a clip for the King of the Esoteric Rant.
He says in his rant he has no problem with cosmetic procedures, so there's no real irony. He was advising people to ahead and do it, but to do it for the right reasons.
@trier4952 How did he change? Give me a couple views of his that have changed so drastically to validify your point. I think he's pretty much the same. You're just all mopey that he has the balls to criticize anything, including the sacred tenets of the left.
Well, early in his stand up career, he worked his anti-gone stance into his routine. If I remember correctly, he commented on a bumper sticker that 'you won't get my gun, until you pry it from my dead hands'. Miller's punch line remark to this was a sarcastic "whatever". He wasn't over the top with his stances against conservatives, but he 'walked that walk' for awhile, no doubt.
burnhippiesforfuel For that much money you could hire somebody to call you everyday and tell you how important you are-and have enough left over for a large pizza and a 2 liter Coke.
The opening story-line scroll to the movie S.O.B. would be a perfect summary for the career of Dennis Miller. I used to love his show and watched all the time. I could be asleep on the couch and the Tears for Fears theme song "everybody wants to rule the world" would wake me up. The guy was great and then...just like the Felix Farmer character in the Blake Edwards satirical masterpiece... Dennis lost his mind...
Also called not aging gracefully. His first three or four HBO comedy specials ('88-92), are legend. He established himself right there, as one of the best- master of the unique 'rapid fire pop/historical reference recall' humor. I think he WAS genius. (and his writers of course) Celebrity is addicting (obviously), because at his age (66), he shouldn't want to be seen and heard publicly, but rather enjoy his life's twilight period with his family.
This is why Miller failed so miserably as a comedian, i.e. being so goddamned show-off pretentious to spend hours writing jokes deliberately using numerous big words and esoteric references so nobody can possibly understand him, thinking that being a show-off is funny. Then when his show failed, he said it was because America is too stupid to get his jokes.
+Tom Evans Actually, his show had a decent run, from 1994 to 2002. It may not equal the multi-decade numbers from the Law & Order franchise, but 215 episodes over eight years is still impressive.
If you're finished,Dennis Miller is brilliant. He's beyond you, which is obviously not hard to be,an ashtray is also beyond you.Stop embarrassing yourself by posting your inane opinions,& just live out the rest of your mundane existence in safe obscurity.Oh...I'm sorry, did I use too many "big words"?Didn't mean to confuse you.boopie.I'll rephrase-you quiet now, nappie time.
his show failed? you mean the reference to the, "culability flow chart, for the responsiblity of the demise of my show, reads like the genealogy of the kid on the porch, in the movie Deliverance"? (lol)
1. Miller didn't "fail" as a comedian - he's a huge name with tons of industry respect and made millions with his own HBO show(s) that ran for almost an entire decade. I'd hardly call that failing. 2. He had his own style that was utterly original. You might like it or hate it, but you can't deny it. 3. Most of his references aren't actually THAT esoteric. If you have even a modicum of intellectual curiosity/education you'll "get" most of them. 4. Most of America IS too stupid to get his jokes. Watch an episode of "Jay Walking" from Leno's Tonight Show. 5. The joke's on you because unlike Bill Maher, Miller at least had (has) the self-awareness to know how he's coming off and pokes fun at himself all the time.
This was in '96.
It's still priceless.
His rants are hilarious. 🍻
These references are brilliant, amazing.
Best vocabulary and lexicon in comedy
Great monologue. I want more!
Thank you, dovenol.
And who else but Dennis Miller can make comedic glibness look so HANDSOME (especially in this show)?
;o)
Brilliant stand-up! I would never try to match wits with this man!
Dennis Miller is a moron today
There are. He released 3 audiobooks on tape of his rants.
I am so proud of my daughter. She is 8. After watching her brothers graduate. Her goal now is to valedictorian. Now that is a goal. Not all girls have the same dream.
My point! I hope people to raise their daughters and stick up for themselves. Be successful.
Angel Evilsizor But I have go agree with him.
Not getting the best education she could possibly get and maybe "Enlightenment" but beating everybody else in the class. Fundamentally flawed perspective.
👍Hey, COMAS! Look into ‘em, they’re very helpful!
Dennis Miller a.k.a. greatness...

👍 The issue is THEIR intelligence, NOT Miller's!
@pinkfloydfan417 you give me hope for the future my young friend

Legend.

As I believe Dennis is pointing out in this rant people of today are bred for ignorance.
This rant better in his audio, the reaction to the penis enhancement joke though, is priceless. Listen carefully to the woman in the audience with the obnoxiously loud, forced, I-don't-get-it-laugh.
That was fandamntastic 😂😂😂🤣🤣
@pinkfloydfan417 Very well put. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

You hit it on the nail tom evans..cant understand him he s to complicated
I could easily go into a Dennis Miller-like rant when it comes to Victoria's Secret's advertising and the Victoria's Secret company as a whole.
🎉
Ironically, he has had hair transplants.
He says in his rant he has no problem with cosmetic procedures, so there's no real irony. He was advising people to ahead and do it, but to do it for the right reasons.
Unless Liv disagrees...then I'm like boo, hiss, boo, hiss😍😂
Plus tax of course, unless you opt for the senior discount 😉
Wow. weird just seeing this when Dick Clark died yesterday.

@trier4952
Aw, c'mon. This is EXACTLY his style today--just injected with politics.
👍😂 Sadly, NOTHING’s improved! (2022 here!🇺🇸😩‼️)
burnhippiesforfuel For that much money you could hire somebody to call you everyday and tell you how important you are-and have enough left over for a large pizza and a 2 liter Coke.
Is Miller reading off a telegraph or is he that much a genius?
@trier4952 um you do realize that he's poking fun at the liberal society, right? Even in this rant.
...if you listen closely
...he’s like a sober
...Greg Giraldo

"Well kiss my own ass, why didn't i think of that?" lol.
Isn't he married to a former model?

@pinkfloydfan417 This show was long before he became a right winged nutbar. He was funny back then.
