Love you Crystal!!! As someone who has had like two oral surgeries, eight teeth pulled under anesthesia, eight years of braces, and a year of Invisalign I feel for you. Orthodontics is BRUTAL but I know you will not regret it! Thank you for sharing with us, it's very relatable!!! You got this!!!
omg Claire, I had no idea! Your teeth look so good, thanks so much for sharing this and showing solidarity, im for real nervous about all of this. Hope to see you soon! Will you be going to La Comic COn?
I am getting braces next week for the exact same reason! I have tongue thrust and a severe overjet . I also hate my profile and jawline and I feel so awkward about it and about the fact that the braces will bring attention to it - even though I know it’s fixing it long term. Thank you for talking about it - you are gorgeous and it makes me feel so much better about my own journey knowing it’s not just me
Hi Gemma, im so glad you commented on my video! It does really help to know that youre no alone in this, and i feel like its a pretty rare thing, like ive never met anyone irl with these issues. Im so excited to hear youre getting braces on next week! Good luck you got this!! i felt nervous about getting braces for the same reason, but after awhile i realized it wasnt a big deal like i thought it was in my head. Good luck, keep me updated with your journey
I had a moderate/severe open bite and I got braces as an adult. Most orthos were either not confident in fixing it or wanted to "break" my jaw and reposition. I opted for the less aggressive approach--got 4 tooth extracted, braces (with elastics and then chains) and some TADs. 7 years later got them removed. It's not 100% perfect (I can see why some were opting for surgey) but its like 90%. Open bite is gone, i have a mild overbit/overjet on the top teeth (they are not 100% vertical-slight outward flare). All that said my smile looks pretty damn good, my lips close when relaxed, and my jawline and sideprofile has improved alot.
I really appreciate you sharing this. Im glad to hear your open bite got corrected, and to hear about other options not involving surgery. I feel like you totally get it.
Hello! I actually did have that jaw surgery for a really extreme open bite and misaligned jaw. I just want to really really emphasize working on correcting tongue posture and mouth breathing. If you dont your bite WILL open up again no matter what. Since i did have jaw surgery my open bite is really mild compared to what it was. But i am currently about to do braces again to close it all the way again because its something i am self conscious about and passionate about. Please prioritize correcting your tongue posture and mouth breathing it will go a LONG LONG way. Good luck, you got this :)
Hi Shane! thank you so much for your comment and sharing your experience! i have been committed to correcting my tongue posture, as it is the cause of all my issues. And im really nervous about relapsing in the future. so thank you for this reminder lol. i've been doing the mint tongue exercise which has been a game changer!! fr appreciate u!!!!

You're wearing a Star Wars shirt, so this counts! When I was a kid, I had an overbite and had to use head gear to shift my bite. Then braces for years and years. As an adult, I never wore my retainer, because gimme a break -- when will it end... And while my overbite never returned, my teeth gradually shifted and went out of whack. Lesson learned on that retainer. So I got Invisalign trays about 8 years ago and wore them for nearly two years. Nice straight teeth and all now, though my invisalign retainers broke and I haven't replaced them, so my lower teeth are already going whacky again. Your teeth have a "memory" and want to go back where they think they belong. I only say all this because once you get all that work done and you love your smile, you'll want to do the work to keep it all in place! BTW, good for you! You're not going to regret it! Oh, and try a waterpik for flossing! BTW, please keep sharing like this even if it doesn't hit your primary niche. It's not only uniquely YOU, but it's content that can really help someone, and I love that. So glad I found you! ❤
wow, thanks so much for sharing this! And omg i will definately remember to wear a retainer when I get one. I really appreciate all the tips and sticking with me on a non-star wars video! :)
Hey 💗I have a open bite as well and they said I had 2 options to either get jaw surgery and wear braces for 12 months if I wanted a super straight smile or get a tongue crib applied with my braces and wear them for 24 months I chose the 2nd option and I start my braces journey on Tuesday I’m a little nervous about getting the tongue crib but I hope everything works out and my bite looks better over time I’m wishing you the best on your journey

@ thank you so much I really appreciate it 💕 that makes me feel better bc so many ppl kept saying the tongue crib was bad I hope it’s not bad for me and I adjust to it fast and ooh I can’t wait to see the updates!!!
@ im ortho told me to use a life saver mint (sugar free) and have my tongue hold the mint on the roof of my mouth for 30minutes everyday. it basically trains the tongue proper tongue posture, and trains me not to mouth breath.
You are beautiful ! I have an overbite and I don'thave enough money to put braces on my teeth I wish I had enough money my teeth are my biggest insecurity, you are a brave woman ❤
I’m going on 3 months with braces. Have an over bite and got 2 upper teeth extractions. My teeth are pretty straight just want to fix my over bite / over jet anyways good luck
@@crystalkyberpretty smooth so far. Been doing research on people who went thru the same. Ready for a brand new smile tbh. FYI teeth extraction do not hurt at all if you go thru it but it’s the only way to give the my mouth space to bring the teeth back for that perfect bite. Let’s stay positive
