Wow, I guess all those DSLR users are finally understanding why an ENG type camera design is better than trying to covert a SLR with mix and match accessories. I welcome back the ENG shoulder mount camera and cheers to Sony for creating the best of both worlds.
I got this combination and am well satisfied with it. Small amount of flex on the lens mount with this heavy lens. So I used the clamp which comes as part of the lens and supported that on my tripod plate as well as the camera. Now no worries over stressing the lens mount. Found less video noise with SLog2 over Slog3 at 8000 ISO.
The decision is going to hinge upon your shooting style, personal preference, customer, audience, and your budget. With the FS7 you are into an altogether different animal: Super 35 sensor and the ability to interchange lenses just for openers. Very dumb question ... How does this camera do for live shots? Live shot capability? Light at night? Middle of the desert? Downtown? Sports lives? Please🙏
The SONY PXW-FS7M2 4K XDCAM Super 35 Camcorder Kit with an 18-110mm Zoom Lens is well suited to cinema, documentaries, news magazines, or as the base of a kit to build upon for commercial production. The camera body is made from magnesium, which is lighter and stronger than aluminum. This allows the camera body to weigh only four pounds. It also incorporates a shoulder pad and is designed to sit on the operator's shoulder by extending the support arm of the SmartGrip, which allows the camera to be held in front of the operator without requiring a support rig. With a wide focal-length range and a constant f/4 aperture in a compact form factor, the Sony E PZ 18-110mm f/4 G OSS Lens offers videographers and cinematographers a versatile lens choice for lightweight operations. While the lens may seem small, it has professional features to back it up. The 18-110m focal-length range covers moderately wide to narrow angles-of-view. Sony's built-in Smooth Motion Optics leverage the internal mechanics of the lens to minimize focus breathing, focus shifting, and other anomalies that would otherwise be noticeable when adjusting the lens during recording. Built-in Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilization helps to keep recorded images stable and free of excess blur in a wide range of handheld or locked-down shooting conditions involving camera movement. A dust and moisture-resistant design provides extra protection and ensures reliable operation in challenging environments and inclement weather. Shoot with confidence in light rain or windy conditions. >Mark
great video Chase. I'm getting a lot of noise in my slog 3 footage even after grading it. Are there any setting you can suggest to counter that or make it less noticeable? Or is it something that can only be fixed in post?
+TruthFirstStudios - Choose a lower ISO and or exposure settings. S-Log is a gamma function applied to Sony’s electronic cinematography cameras, in a manner that digitally originated images can be post-processed with similar techniques as those employed for film originated materials. Since S-Log can reproduce the entire tonal range captured by a CCD or CMOS imager, the S-Log image can be described as the “Digital Negative” of the image acquisition process. Shooting in S-Log will enable the cinematographer to decide the exposure value by using a light meter, and offer a smooth transition from film acquisition to digital acquisition. When viewing S-log encoded images on an HD reference monitor that are ultimately intended for cinema release via film print or D-Cinema projection, a display LUT should be applied that emulates film print or digital cinema color and contrast range within the constraints of the video monitor’s gamut and contrast. Using the traditional photo-chemical analogy, S-Log is the “camera negative” and the final look of the “release print” and DCP (Digital Cinema Package) is ultimately defined during the final color grading in the Digital Intermediate, post production process. Grain reduction applied in post is just a softening of the image. Grain reduction tools used in post basically soften the image by applying very light blur to the individual color channels that have the worst noise. >Mark
1 second = 60 frames per second. If you playback 180 frames per second in real time at 60 frames per second the video will play 3x slower. The SHOGUN recorder is not a factor at all. >Mark

I'm starting to think that my PD150 isn't so cutting edge anymore...
How is the autofocus?
definitely buying this as a upgrade to my fs 700. awesome camera for the price
Thoughts on making this the primary cameras shooting sports? Worth it, or stick with Z100's?

Can it live stream straight
No it cannot. An HDMI or 3G-SDI to USB capture card would be required for livestreaming. >Mark

thank you for that Mark Ill be sure to experiment with the iso settings and also looking into grain reduction.
What kind of lenses this camera support
This camera supports the use of Sony E mount lenses.
Well done video!
Lovely camera..!
the tech will mature and will settle down, holographic suites and then content will once again take over
That is very nice I must say.
how many seconds can i record in 4k 60fps or in slowmo at 180fps, if im outputting to a shotgun4k external recorder

Great review Thank you
autofocus workes with mount

Mark S
Autofocus workes with adaptor
Best camra
Only 1-3 hours from battery?!!!
and in a year the standard will be 6k and you will be stuck with another expensive camera
Riiiight!
+Emilio Murillo Yes but I want to live now. Most people watch in 2K so why worry about it. Buy it and enjoy.
Emilio Murillo there will never be a standard again that will stick. At this point, technology is like never ending mitosis. It will continue to multiply new ideas at increasing speeds.
3ccd has still withstood the test of time... mini dv tapes, fire wire upload ports, ahhh doesnt get any better
Sony vx1000 and Canon GL2 FTW
So Is 6K standard yet? Funny, have not seen any 6k TVs or any higher than 4k in 2020 & most networks are still only broadcasting in HD
Meu sonho ter uma super máquina dessa!?🥴👍🏻🤭❤
Wow..So Nice'
The price is rip off. Especially when paying $12.000 and you get G lens by Sony. Nothing like Carl Zeiss lens.
Great 👍
