I think her name could just be Sonic Rainboom.
She'd be named after her biggest achievement and can symbolize how Rainbow only sees herself as just her achievements. The nightmare forces could push this belief she could have on herself that without these shows and spectacles she puts on to impress others, she's nothing. I mean her whole destiny is tied to a spectacle so it makes sense that she'd have insecurities about failing to live up expectations set up by herself and those around her because of it. I mean how could you top a sonic rainboom? How can you surpass the expectations tied to a previous achievement that literally defined history?

I can actually see this working really well for Rainbow Dash's character. We already know that she tends to be quite the showboat and arrogant at times as seen in some old episodes of MLP FIM. And I can also see her making this sort of transition, especially when you consider that in Battle of the Bands, RD was using an electric guitar as the lead guitarist. So, given the ego bit, it wouldn't be quite the stretch to see her force herself to the front and be the lead pony.
Over all, I honestly think that you knocked it out of the park with this visual design and the storytelling behind it! Great job!

Idk, but like if you’re doing AppleJack next, you should make her based off business people. Since her element is based on honesty. You should maybe lean towards greedy business looks you know? Big company type design that show the complete opposite of what she supposed to be. Or you should make her based off an outlaw. Idk it’s your choice.

the hair/glam metal look is EVERYTHING i love it!!!! Its also just a super fun reinterpretation of her character traits as a whole, really well done!
This suits her perfectly, in Equestria Girls she plays guitar, and we've seen many times in the show that she enjoys fame and adoration.
Spectrum scare to me sounds pretty dope but i feel like rainbow being the “self centered” character she is would talk about herself in the third person, putting the in the front of her name every time
Sweet design for evil RD! I like the punk rock theme for her, it’s very fitting her alter ego. As for name choices, I was thinking Rainstorm, Stratus Ego, or perhaps Alto Ego (some cloud word play with RD’s big ego, fyi).

This idea is so fun to me cause there was actually a Gen 1 mlp villain that was a zebra named nightshade that stole people’s shadows by luring them into the same place via concerts. It feels like a cool (albeit unintended) nod to g1 but also such a cool take on dash as a villain given her insecurities seen in the show

I like the idea of her cutie mark being different where it was just a rainbow, I can see see her getting tease and such by other ponies, since we know shes very tomboy in the show but due to her cutie mark being just a rainbow, they don't see her full potential and doesn't become a wonder bolt like she wanted, I can see her having an ego when she turns into her nightmare form

AppleJack is my favorite character, so I have an idea!
What if AppleJack gets bitten by a vampire fruit bat from ep7 s4 and the other ponies try to turn her back to normal, but only half succeed. Maybe Twilight used the wrong spell or something interfered. She's really big now and her vampire wings are still there, and her fangs are also bigger. And instead of destroying her own farm she goes to other farms. She could also be the leader of the vampire bats?
Rainbow roar (as in the crowd roars for her), Florescent Freak (florescent like glowsticks, I thought that because of her hair), Rainbow Shock, Stunt storm (cuz stunt can mean a cool trick an the bitter part could mean the stunted growth of her friendship with the others if she lost the ability to fly in her eyes), I JUST LOVE HER SOOOO MUCH SHES AMAZING AAAAAH, SHES GORGEOUS

Okay okay okay, so, I have no idea if Fluttershy has been started, but I can see one of three things happening.
1. The flutter bat episode but *gone eviler oOOoO*
2. Fluttershy wants to defend the evergreen forest and the creatures inside it, and she can have some inspo taken from the villain in the Camp of Everfree Equestrian girls movie
3. And and personal fav, alt ending for the discord episode where she reluctantly goes along with his antics, hoping for change and stuffing everything down until one more straw of gay hits the horse’s back persay. She turns Discord to stone again or something with the nightmare forces and fucks things up and everything goes wild

I like the idea of her losing her ability to fly actually, specially because that in the show flying is a big thing about her character, she may not be the only pegasus of the group, but she is THE flier, maybe it could also work in the same AU where Twilight didn't got to meet the girls, and instead of becoming the elements of harmony they end up becoming the elements of chaos or the elements of destruction, maybe Rainbow was able to create the sonic boom, but something ended up while landing and she had a horrible crash that left her somehow injuried and permanently grounded and that messes up with her mindset, maybe she feels like some of her friends (fluttershy maybe?) turn their back on her and so she decides to turn her back on then too, maybe she starts perfoming as a way to escape her reality, and in doing so she starts to gain fame and attention and a part of the thing that i dont know the name that went to Luna (sorry, too lazy to luck it up) could have one part separated and fused with her, transforming her in (Prismatic Scream??, Terror Spectrum??, IDK) and giving her the hability of feeding off her fan's love for her, sort like a changeling but without the disguise?, maybe she could keep them in some sort of hypnosis during her shows, the ponies start enjoying it soo much that they don't notice themselves growing weak until they are left as some sort of zombies to serve her.
Maybe she joins the Shadow Bolts instead of helping her friends across the bridge and that's how she turns evil

loving the newest member of KISS! this design goes hard, i love how her mane glows! like she's still colorful, but over-bright enough to look somewhat dark and brooding, the black of her body also helps with the intense contrast. just saying, i would LOVE to have these nightmare versions of the mlp characters as pins or stickers (preferably pins, but y'know!) especially rd!
going off the theme of using the eoh's elements against them, what if nightmare applejack? twisted vines and branches of lies and deceit, maybe some aspects of decay - as much decay as you can fit into a family friendly format like this!

I absolutely love this version of nightmare rainbow dash and kinda wish it was her official style at the same time.
For rainbow to turn this way is letting her ego blow way out of proportion, which can possibly cause her ego to manifest and go ballistic like build a whole separate pony.
Just think rainbow looking in the mirror and suddenly starts having hallucinations about a big crowd chanting her name over and over, but then she realizes that they aren't cheering for her instead they're cheering for nightmare . And nightmare would turn and say that she's the better out of the two less plain looking, more worthy of praise and appreciation. And nightmare convices rainbow to let go and embrace ego, when rainbow snaps back she was just blankly gazing at the mirror, this in turn caused her to go on a psychotic rant about being the best and she deserves praise and admiration and others should be lucky they're in her presence.

In the episode “Pies and lies” (something like that) Pinkie images a laser eyed, mean rainbow dash. It would really interesting if a corrupted Rainbow came from her distaste for her friends, getting irritated by everyone as she sees them as a distraction? Not sure but sounded cool 😋

I will admit that at first I was a bit confused about the tiny legs, but now I am absolutely in love with them! So cute! Im liking the idea of the universe where Nightmare Moon took over equestria and sealed celestia in the moon concept, so if we move from the "dream" idea, we could have there be the day the rainboom was interrupted and her cutiemark was different. then after years of anger and rage, she's become THE QUEEN OF THE STORM!
If its the Dream thing, her moment she snaps and is turned into a nightmare, maybe her dreams would have her wings suddenly stop working, and when she calls out for help by her friends, they all walk away.
Sad, but I think it'd be affective.
