musicfreakcc, The Schindler High-Speed Elevators ?" The last time I checked, Shindler is the company that service the elevators in the Sears Tower. They don't make, or own the elevators. When their contract expires, other companies will bid to take over service needs of the Sears Tower Elevators.
that woman should not have put her hand on the elevator doors. if the sensors were not working she would have lost a hand. you keep your hands free from the doors when riding elevators. the woman needs to watch herself. holding to the door preventing the elevator from leaving is a very foolish thing to do. if it were'nt for the sensors in the door there would possibly have been an accident. From elevator enthusiast Richard. ps very good exxxciting video.
This is a really illiterate comment. Lifts don't move when doors are opened. When the doors open, the safety circuit is cut, and the brakes will not release as long as it is cut. If you someone managed to open the doors midway, the lift will stop immediately because of cut safety circuit. Really this will not happen even if the lift has no beam sensors or bumpers. They only move when doors are closed and safety is connected (unless the lift engineer was an idiot and wrongly setup the lift)
Richard Pearson you do not know what you are talking about. She might have been trying to hold the doors open or she might have been trying to direct people into the elevator. Think before u post.
hahah one of my friend works in willis tower here in chicago, and he told me there is always someone on the elevator. ALWAYS so u shouldnt be worried if u got stuck in it lol
tusselman159 There's a OTIS lift (20 floors) Omni New Haven from the 1990s & when you go down you're PLUMMETING!!!!! literally! You're falling for 3 seconds when your going from floor M to floor L because there so far apart FRIRND!!!!!
That woman should not put her hand in the way of the elevator doors, holding it up. If the elevator doors did not have an electric eye she would have properly lost her arm
people say,, STUID GUY holding the door,, how bout the guy who pushes the button fifty times,,, the guy holding the door, has a job to make sure he makes the elevator as full as possible, so that the next ride down dosent have to many people waiting that they fight to get in it
I would think, but it can be set to activate after ten seconds, or several minutes. At a building like this, I'm guessing it would be set to a long time before the elevator would go into nudging.
I hope employees working the observation deck have some special key they can use to shut that goddam recorded sound off so they don't have to suffer through it every day. Who decided a thing like that was necessary?
(GB) That was a nice little lift programme.
(US) That was a fuckin nice elevator show thing
Nice elevator 👍
Deserves a like...
Burj Dubai and the Sears Tower are the coolest buidlings ever!
the suspense is killing me press the button!!!!
I would program elevators to say "Please keep clear of the door and do not take advantage of the safety sensors.
I went to the skydeck in october and during the elevator ride down my ears were exploding.
This is Crazy!
It's an educational movie. I never knew that
It was much nicer back when I rode that, there was no obnoxious tv screen with the loud sound, was just an elevator ride.
I rode this in the 3rd Grade during Summer.
it is now the Willis Tower
not fair! i live on the 29th floor of my condominium and it takes me 60 secs to go down to the lobby! that thing does it in 5 seconds!
This is a very nice elevator. I would expect nicer for the Sears/Willis Tower though.

the guy making the vid pressed the door open button. Yes, it was foolish.

Saves money on the electric bill if more people are using the elevator at any one point.
That thing goes down 10 floors as fast as my apartment elevator goes down 1 floor.

I wonder if the elevators have nudge mode.
I would think, but it can be set to activate after ten seconds, or several minutes. At a building like this, I'm guessing it would be set to a long time before the elevator would go into nudging.
so the door wouldn't close and go down with only one person on the elevator.
2,5 floor per second (top speed)
That’s a lot of floors
@TheFireElevator : Read the description.
no independant service?
@g3lk2 He said it is LIKE, not it IS.
I hope employees working the observation deck have some special key they can use to shut that goddam recorded sound off so they don't have to suffer through it every day. Who decided a thing like that was necessary?

Is it as fast as the drop 🤔 fear 😨?
That video drowns out the sounds of the traction cables.
You might want to think about editing off the first 50% of this video.

Teipei 101 can do 100 floors in 40 seconds.
ever 10 second 10 floor, how fast....
they should just make it free fall for 70 floors and then use the last 30 floors to brake.
joking of course.
Oh, kinda like the mega-drop at the ex, lol. 😂
Before modernization.
