That effect works in animation. You can draw the son to look similar to the father. In live series, you can't do that with actors. So it's fine that they showed him this early.

This fact alone makes this remake inherently inferior to the previous version, since it actively adds nothing and removes what made the previous one good. I mean, the only thing it truly added was showing the air nation slaughter. This was an interesting take, however that didn't really add anything when we already knew the nation got slaughtered and saw the aftermath in the original. They honestly should've made an original live action show or if they truly wanted to use the avatar universe, they could've had an original story happening in said universe.

Avatar honestly didn't need a remake as it's not a movie/show from like the 1940s, so there was no need to give it better effects or try to show it to a modern audience.
