Big boy is a beast. You owe it to yourself and your family to see this amazing locomotive. Make plans to build a memory. Your kids or grandkids will never forget.
There was a time in America during the late 1940's when everyone in town would stop what they were doing and go down to the depot to watch the first stream line diesel come down the tracks. It see we have come full circle. Johnny Cash recorded a song about it. Google Texas 1947 and listen. I would love to read your comments.
Sorry to hear that you're under the weather, hope you get better soon. Myself and about 15 other people found this spot. I heard that Burleson was swamped with people and the restaurants were full. Thank you John.
My wife and I saw it in 2019, unfortunately it was broke down in Casa Grande Az, and was not able to pull on its own power, it was being pushed, still a work of engineering, and massive, actually got to view it for quite awhile, so maybe it wasn’t totally disappointing 😁
Too bad it wasn’t under it’s own power. I saw it on display for decades at LA County fairgrounds. This was my first time seeing it running. Thank you Dale.
Hint - If you are going to video the train and you want to capture the sound of a locomotive stay away from any crossing by at least half a mile. Near a crossing all you'll hear is his horn or bell.
We lived in El Cerrito, CA in the early 40's, and the Santa Fe train tracks ran just behind the homes across the street. During the war there were long trains of military equipment, and later on hospital trsind with large red crosses on the sides of the hospital cars. The service men near the windows would wave to us as the trains passed.
He was setup to video, but I guess decided to do pictures and the wife was going to video. He got the pictures he wanted, but her phone over heated and she didn't get anything so I sent her a copy. Thank you Hemi5.7.
@@grandparails8858 Many times people who are taking pictures lose their perspective of where they are and how close to the tracks they are. Many people don't understand that a train is wider than the tracks. No picture is worth a life or an injury. And think of the engine crew who have to watch all this going on and being unable to respond effectively if someone is being careless.
Saw it with my Grandson, PARKED at Fort Worth, Tx, D.A.R.T., STATION. Size, Impressive! But would rather, have seen it Roaring Past! P.S.: they had, NO, info fliers, for the kids! Somebody, in U.P. P.R. Dept, must'a been Asleep, O.T.J.!
Cool you got to see it. Too bad they didn't think to have fliers. I used to see it when it was parked at the LA county fairgrounds in Ca. This my first time seeing it run. Thank you Dennis.
I’m not a train nut but this is a magnificent machine! The smell, feel, sound of it whistling by must be fantastic!
I had seen on display for many years at the LA county fairgrounds in Pomona, Ca. It was great to see it running. Thank you Jim.
I'm loving the fact that someone has trained a donkey to act as an alert for the train's imminent arrival👍
😂
That donkey was funny. He may been trained for that because he did it when the freights came through. Thank you Bad bus Driver.
Awesome catch JD, definitely a once in a lifetime type a thing. That donkey in the background made me laugh 😂. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼🇺🇸😎
That donkey was funny he did that when a freight passed before the 4014 came too. Thank you Eddie.
I don't remember seeing a donkey in the video.
@@engineerisaiahtube8787listen around the :59 seconds mark

DOPE IN ORANGE SHIRT HAD ALL DAY TO GET HIS CAMERA READY , BUT NO WAIT TO TRAINS HERE TO FUMBLE WITH CAMERA
It proves the railfan saying 'The perfect picture can only be achieved from the other side of the tracks, and then only at the last minute'
very true but then the camera messes up and you miss the shot. thank you WBDE.
