I had to laugh when I saw an all dried up, partially crumbed rice crispy treat shaped somewhat like a Mickey Mouse for $5 bucks and a woman was actually fascinated with it and was about to buy it until another more expensive treat caught her eye. $10 popcorn makes me laugh as well. Caroline Waldman According to the info I got from Golden Oak Realty, the HOA fee is about the same as upscale ones in the DC area. Also, if you have the cash, you do not need income.
When compared to home/condo prices in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, or Miami... Golden Oaks doesn’t have as much of a sticker shock.

Right? To be fair there's a lot of overlap with these people as they own many vacation homes; I wouldn't be surprised if several of these houses are owned by the same person (or you know, one of the companies that person owns to buy property with). But still, it's insane.
Not a steal but suprisingly cheap for what it is. If you live in LA or San Fran those prices sound high but for a disney mansion they come off as reasonable.
Doesnt feel like disney at all. If i was paying that much for a disney home i would want it themed to the max with a pirates of the Caribbean pool and interior and everything. I'd rather stay in a disney signature suite than buy a "Disney" house with a hidden Mickey here and there.
It's not that simple. Disney is experiencing overcrowding issues. Disney is raising prices to alleviate the crowding issue but people keep coming so the cycle just keep repeating. People are willing to pay for experiences more than ever especially with the accelerate growth of social media. With stable inflation the price of goods and services should double every 25 years. But that's why the Disney price has more than double in the past 10 years.
@@fataznboi911 Disney is raising prices to decrease overcrowding? Ha! Disney is raising money because they are a capitalis company and because they can. Doing anything good for the sake of the public ended decades ago.
It’s really not that crazy. Also, these same billionaires probably travel down to Florida in the winter to relax, golf, etc.. IMO, this a far more practical purchase than a 2nd or 3rd Ferrari or whatever other luxury items are typically purchased by the guys as you may even make a profit when it comes to selling the home down the road

To those considering buying here I’ve live no more than one hour away from Disneyland my entire life. Living near a Disney park gets to be mundane after awhile. You are not going to be going on special tours. As for fine dining, golf, and the other amenities that Disney world has to offer, this can be found around most ordinary communities, and especially those communities that golden oaks residence already come from. While the wealthy could afford this I think after a while they will have realized they’ve wasted their money. Not unlike someone less wealthy who realized they’ve spent way too much on that delicious churro.
Those homes aren't that expensive for someone with plenty of money. Some of those homes cost less than $3 million. The more expensive homes cost $5 million or more. That's affordable when compared to how much mansions are costing in Los Angeles.
@@marcsmith1836 There used to be a television show called The Beverly Hillbillies. The mansion in that show is for sale right now. It's in Los Angeles. It's only $195 million if you want to buy it. That's a bargain. It was $350 million in 2017.

Myth: Celebration is owned by the Walt Disney Company and/or is a part of Walt Disney World. Fact: It is true that Celebration is located on land that used to be part of the Walt Disney World Resort. However, it is now a part of Kissimmee and Osceola County. Disney retained ownership of some assets, like the downtown area and the golf course, for a while, but they were both recently sold. Currently, Disney still owns commercial parcels near I-4 on Celebration Blvd. Their development arm, The Celebration Company, is in the process of marketing to potential buyers, most likely for hotels.
Also the quality of the houses originally built in Celebration was so bad that in less than 10 years ppl were already having to replace drywall, electrical sockets, light fixtures, fences, even roofs. Many lawsuits have been filed thru the years by residents due to very poor quality materials being used on all the houses. I understand some houses now are literally condemned to be unsafe to live in!
Do we really need kids running around in the video?? I mean really, who is the target audience here, billionaires or 8 year olds?!... Nothing screams luxurious living like a 8 year old in a pink ballet skirt jumping on a master bed
So their passing off these cheap made homes for millions just so you can go early to the parks??? You can get the same homes 10 minutes away for 300 to 500k
"You can get the same homes 10 minutes away for 300 to 500k" LOL! You have absolutely no freaking idea of what you are talking about. I have several friends that live a few minutes away from Disney. Those homes barely cost more outside of Golden Oaks.
Thanks for this video. I'd heard of Golden Oaks but for some reason always thought it was meant more for retirees. Interesting to see it's more for vacation homes.
Fun fact: Nyumbani means the act of being inside the home, or a home in Swahili :) Just nyumba is a house. But nyumbani has a deeper meaning, means at home.
The main reason I go to WDW is to have fun at the parks. There is nothing extra that the rides can/will do that will compensate for spending that kind of money! It's great to come back after a day at the park and someone cooks and cleans for you. However, they can't stop the rain spurts, the heat, or walking through the crowd, fix that and then let's talk.
Try moving to Australia. An average home in Melbourne or Sydney is upwards of AUD$1.2mil, or USD$936, 000. Also, they're not exactly large either, not like your American homes, which are huge. If you want a 3 bed family home with 1.5, maybe 2 bathrooms for the aforementioned price, you're looking at an hour long commute to work everyday at best. And those additional HOA fees and taxes? If you live in or around Melbourne you can triple what Disney makes people pay for these "mansions" every year and you might come close.
we just recently stayed at port orleans riverside....pretty sure i recall seeing (probably one off) the entrances to golden oak. I knew there are a few communities something like this, but damn, didn't know they were that fancy!
I remember once seeing a total breakdown of costs and amenities for golden oaks and the math coming out to be actually moderately reasonable if you are wealthy enough to afford it. I once heard of someone trying to rent his home in golden oaks out though to pay for the yearly fees and being told he wasnt allowed to. they have a pretty insane HOA from what i remember. I do know they changed the golden oaks membership like 10 years ago too. before they used to get that 3 year pass for life but i dont know when it was changed but the club 33 thing was added in. Frankly if i was a golden oaks owner i would say i want club 33 access for LA too but that club is meant to be even more exclusive than the florida one and from most accounts isnt worth the price anyway.
The idea is not bad. But for Disney owning this I find the houses kinda lackluster. The houses are really beautiful especially 6:26 one. If all these house were built outside then they would definitely had lot of buyers. However since it's Disney's property I would expect something Disney like straight out of fantasy. These looks like common mediterranean house. I would expect atleast one house to look and feel magical.

I just checked out the Golden Oak website, and as far as I can tell, there is only one house presently available. So it's doing well, I guess. Somehow.
Wow 400k for 3 bedrooms near Disney World is pretty cheap. It could actually be a good investment for rent and live in on certain time of the year. Houses in Silicon Valley are 1 million + for 3 bedroom 2 baths and the shitting part of Silicon Valley are now in the high 700K to 800k now.
It's not that expensive. You'd probably pay the same amount of money to stay in a super nice neighborhood (in Beverly Hills for example) in the same house. You get many more benefits with the Disney World homes, not to mention that it's literally the best neighborhood ever since it's basically a wonderland, especially if you love Disney.
You can’t even live here, you’re only allowed when going to the theme park; which I find fucking ridiculous if you paid almost 10 million dollars for it
@@potfairy from what I understood you can live here full-time (and according to comments of people saying they drive Uber there, some people do), it's just that it counts as a resort. +Robin Lucas Disney never advertises that they pay wages that you can live off of. Also the jobs at Disneyland are very simple, anyone with the brain capacity higher than a lemon can perform them. It's like working at McDonald's and complaining that you can't live off their wages.
It’s sad to see people who obviously don’t have to worry about how their bills are paid, talking about the needs of people they know nothing about. And how is a mother supposed to care for herself and her child(ren) on an unlivable wage. People aren’t just taking care of themselves, everyone does have a family to support them in tough times. That’s why you go to work no matter the task, they are paying for your time, so you can making a LIVING in this country. And despite how some of you may live, many of us are struggling to live in less expensive neighborhoods. Which sucks if you have kids because I want my child to have the best education possible but that’s not always available in certain communities. Ok go live in the suburbs you say, that’s more expensive in a one income household with dependents, and now a commute. These jobs aren’t going to teenagers anymore, it’s real people with real responsibility. Shouldn’t they be paid fairly for their time? It’s so obvious why the poor are getting poorer, cuz nobody give a shit.
The thing I wonder about (granted, I could probably look it up if I wondered enough) is the political aspect. Technically, WDW is divided into two cities with "democratic" government (Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista), and I know there are a few hand-picked people (Disney employees and their families, I think) who they allow to live on property as residents of those cities to effectively be Disney's political catspaw. But a few hundred people would actually be enough to swing policy if they all decided to actually be residents of Lake Buena Vista and vote. Are there any controls to prevent that? Do Golden Oak buyers somehow contractually waive their right to participate in Lake Buena Vista politics? This would, of course, have been a bigger issue if Walt's original vision of EPCOT had actually been built. But when Disney built Celebration, Florida, they officially divested themselves of the land to prevent this kind of thing from becoming a problem. But they haven't done this with Golden Oak.
This is just a pure guess: because they're vacation homes on paper, maybe residents can't actually be registered there? Meaning that those who live there all year will still be registered at some other address and will have to have their mail forwarded to their Disney vacation home.

These homes lack imagination. The designs are reduced to a veneer. And evokes a feeling of just less than enough.
Dan Saber The exteriors are limited by the HOA guidelines. Each neighborhood has its own limitations.

It's great to come back after a day at the park and someone cooks and cleans for you. However, they can't stop the rain spurts, the heat, or walking through the crowd, fix that and then let's talk.
$2 million doesn’t sound outrageously expensive?! Lol Most homes are in that half a million price tag...and they aren’t “mansions”
Alex Couick most homes where? If we’re talking Orlando area, yes, probably, but for the us it’s around the $250k range

@@Macca-95 many debate it, but I would say enough to pay average rent for the area with enough left over for reasonable utilities, (including gas and such). plus, maybe a couple hundred for recreation? some could argue that isn't necessary, but Disney cast members put extreme work and time into their job. a living wage shouldn't include dependents such as children, and should only be enough for one employee, but it is something to consider than some employees may have dependents they need to care for.
@@catsalmonray8666 That is absolutely ridiculous. You are not entitled to live in any area. Also what is the average rent? Is that alone? Is that with housemates? What type of abode?
Disney employees will soon be earning about what I earned first year out of college in a shit job once you convert currency.
Many of them want to live in an insanely expensive part of the world when if they were to go a few suburbs over then they would be paying far less.
If they put extreme work and time into their jobs then they would be entitled to overtime pay boosting their earnings even further.

Disney never advertises that they pay wages that you can live off of.
Always enjoyed traveling to Florida (Miami). I can see myself spending holidays there. The houses are beautiful.
