I’ve been a crane tech for over 30 years and I can assure you most crane accidents are caused by arrogant or ignorant crane operators. They either say “oh she can handle it, I know my crane” or “this crane is rated for blah blah blah” not understanding LOAD RADIUS. The good operators will not lift or move anything without knowing weights and distances. They will NEVER exceed the load radius rating of their machine. Cranes are giant see-saws using counterweight to prevent tipping. Cranes don’t usually fail due to structural problems they tip over bc dumbasses try to lift too far away from the machine.
