  • Is Vitamin C even effective in skincare? Do you really NEED Vitamin C?
    Time to talk about an apparently controversial skincare ingredient again! For as long as I can remember, Vitamin C has been regarded as a skincare superstar. A Gold Standard Active, if you will. Recently, I feel like a lot of people have turned their tide on her though and are now feeling as if she's not worth it or she doesn't work! So I'm sharing my perspective.
    Check out my Formulation Talks where I talk all things ingredients lists!

    Thank you for making this video!!! As someone who tried a lot of different Vitamin C options (from both western and eastern markets), I just never found one that actually "worked". I thought that it was just my skin not liking this ingredient, but now I see another point of view of it. This video was so informative! Personally, I think that Hyaluronic Acid and Snail Mucin are too much overhyped.

    The only vitamin C I have tried is the Face Theory one and I would say I did see improvement in the brightness of my skin, but there is something about the formulation that just didn't play well with most sunscreens I tried pairing it with, which lead me to use it less and less and eventually stop altogether. That aside, I wanted to say that I love these kinds of videos: I feel like your content always summarizes what is being claimed by all sides really well, and then shows how "the truth", if there is one, is much more nuanced than boicotting or veneration. 😋

    Serumtology (SAP) was my first and favorite so far
    Timeless (LAA) was okay
    Ordinary (LAA) with Arbutin broke me out which caused more PIH
    Biossance Dark Spot Serum (3OE) did nothing noticeable
    Currently using Ordinary LAA powder with their reversatrol serum and really like it.
    Biobare is on my possibility list for next, since I’m sure mixing powder will get old.

    I've been loving the Good Skin Days C's the Day -- 10% ascorbic acid so it's not too irritating, plus niacinamide, licorice root and camu camu. I've definitely seen my skin tone improve since using! It does go off after 4 months and in my experience after about 2.5 it's fully oxidized, but I usually use it up in about 2 and, to your point, it's got so many benefits that I'm not fussed about the vit c oxidizing

  • @rayradiance666
    @rayradiance666 3 года назад +6

    Probably because vitamin c is a hit or miss for most people, it can be irritating and very unstable. I tried to love it but no matter what formulation, percentage, or derivative I used, it would always break me out (not like severe acne) than if I were not to use it at all and my skin would feel inflamed or hot. Topical vitamin c is overrated and not my cup of tea. However, research shows that eating vitamin c rich foods or supplementing with vitamin c in your diet has the same collagen boosting properties as topical vitamin C.

    The only thing I disagree with is the complete write-off of derivatives (not by Ramon specifically, I mean in general). The theory is that a derivative needs to be converted into LAA in the skin to work, this hasn't been completely proven. In fact there have been independent studies which showed that Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate not only penetrates faster than LAA, but showed better results in terms of increasing collagen synthesis and provided comparable UV protection and brightening effect as LAA, which doesn't fully the support the assumption that all the benefits of a derivative come from the LAA that it converts to.

    • @hirry.p
      @hirry.p 2 года назад

    I still think there are other antioxidants that you can use that are more stable. Btw, as a new subscriber highly excited about your content, I'm a bit disappointed you don't disclose you're being rep'd by Susan Yara's company, and that she also owns Naturium. This isn't hate for either of you; I only know about your relationship with Susan because I love her and watch all her videos, and she did mention representing diverse content creators (including you) as an exciting new division of Mixed Media, her company. I just kinda think this kind of relationship should be mentioned; at the time of my writing this, it's not disclosed in your description box. Obviously I support both of you and think she's got a great eye for talent in rep'ing you.

      No worries at all! I haven’t publicly disclosed this no, but generally most people don’t disclose their representation or agencies. Up until I signed with her in May, I was with a completely different agency I never spoke of either. I’ve recently signed to the management company she owns, but creators don’t tend to or need to disclose that kind of information. I never disclosed my prior management either
