The Austrian entrace test for medicine is infamous on a national level, many people including me know somebody who at least tried (or passed, like one of my cousins). Someone asked me why I didn't try (I had the grades in the right subjects) and I asked back if I look like like I hate myself. 😂 Hard entrance test, long studying time just to interact with cranky people for long hours, certainly not my thing. One major you didn't mention which is not only well paid but unlike some of the others also makes it comparatively easy to actually get a job is Wirtschaftsrecht (commercial law). Businesses and banks need surprisingly many of those people. As an Austrian, I'd honestly be interested in what led you to Austria. Not too many Russians here in general but especially not many who could easily pass as an international model. 😊
I really hope it was a Joke that it's easy to get to study Medicine in Austria. 😅 The people who want to study this start learning for the entrance exam at least one year before the test....
I studied chemistry at the university of Vienna due to personal interest and because the rush of students was quite low around 2000. It turned out that many of my professors were more difficult to deal with than the subject itself. Finally I graduated with a lot of bad memories.
Hey im planning to move to austria to study masters in psychology. Could you help me with any information? Could you share your experiences there? Are the people friendly? I really appreciate any information. Thank you 🙂
@@mallukittens177 Psychology is a very different department, but I have never heard anything bad about it except for some exams in the bachelor, which doesn´t affect you anyway. I advise you to write directly to the dean and/or to the study programme head of psychology. He/she will tell you whom specifically to ask. The new term will start in about 3 weeks, so do it soon. As masters studies are not as crowded as the bachelor, odds are it will be quite relaxed. I studied chemistry in Vienna, which is the worst place for a student as structures were not built for that onslaught. Graz, Linz and Salzburg are smaller cities with nice universities - I would have studied there if I had been from abroad. May I ask you which country you are from ? Kind regards and hopefully welcome to Austria/Mathew.
@@Gonzo_-zb5mf Hey thanks for the reply mate. Im from India. Could you share more of your experience there. Are Austrians friendly to foreigners? Hows the college life there? Any information regarding masters in clinical psychology is appreciated. Thank you so much.
@@mallukittens177 Hello, I just stumbled upon your question. Half of Vienna´s population are foreigners, so odds are that you won´t encounter any racism, especially at university level. I don´t know anything about the psychology-department, but I have not heard anything bad either. Chemistry in Vienna likely still is a pool for and of questionable characters, I´m sure that you can write whole dissertations about their behaviour. Just keep that in mind, but for the first time you will be restricted to your department. If I were you, I would write an e-mail, looking for this institute in English (they all have an English internet appearance). If they don´t answer, you could write a real letter - some older profs still like that. Moreover, there are links to the "ÖH", means "Österreichische Hochschülerschaft" (oeh.ac.at). They can also help you. I wish you Good Luck for your planned studies in Vienna, Mathew (aka Gonzo)
Yes, Innsbruck is one of the most vibrant student cities in Austria, can only recommend. However, be aware that it's a bit more pricey than other places and lies in difficult to reach location.
