JR, I have watched your channel with great regularity since July when I was laid up a home from surgery and then Chemotherapy. It gave me something to look forward to. It did not matter if it was the Jag or the V rod or any of your other projects. Keep plugging away.
I don't know if it's so much people wanted to see more of the transmission rebuild as it is we wanted to see your dad doing more work. He seems like an amazing man and he has an incredible wealth of knowledge. Treasure every moment you get to spend with him.
JR, Your Pop is the coolest guy! Not only did he raise a very talented and successful son. He's very confident in his ability to fix anything. Like father, like son!
Every time I take someone's wheel off I always coat the shaft with anti-seize. I have had friends that 10 years later ask me to do some work on their bike and wanted new tires and did not want to pay the dealer price for taking them off the bike. I had zero problems the rear and front came out so easily and when I put them back in I put on another fresh coat of anti-seize. For anyone who ever works on their own bike Harley or sports bike do yourself a favor and pick up the shop size anti-seize. It comes with a brush and it makes it a lot easier job to do. As always I enjoyed your video and of course I made sure to give you a big thumbs up.
All that back and forth craziness is exactly how it was for me the last time I had to pull bearings, I broke and returned 2 different harbor freight pullers before I gave up and took the wheels to my local indy shop. Thatdamn spacer just makes it so hard. Nice video
Don't forget to coat that axel with anti cease grease before you put it back in or it will happen again, and do the front axel too if you didn't when you installed the front axel, your dad's the man old school and knows the rules.
I am so glad I got to talk to you at LSFest East a couple of years ago when you brought the ProCharger Vette! Great content and I love seeing the stuff with your dad! I wish I had done more projects with my Dad!
I think why your dad got your axle unstuck is he figured persistence and penetrating oil worked on the old tractor engine so it should work on the axle. In regards to the shop removing the bearings that's shocking. I didn't even think you could walk into a place and only be charged $10 -- most places won't even look at you for less than $50.
So I guess you've given up on the Bentley? I've been doing a little bit of research here in the UK and it looks like car could be fixed but you are probably going to have to replace the whole wiring harness from the front to the rear as you don't know what mistakes the last person has made in there? We have 4 complete cars here in our breakers yard if you need parts of any description, I will of course give whatever you need free of charge as I am dieing to see the car run!!!
Dad could probably be rich if he just made videos of rebuilding and setting carbs on those old field finds. heck the two of you doing resurrections in the field would be pretty darn fun to watch. you wanting to go with new and Fuel injected and him just getting an old fifties carb to return to life and make it home 400 miles.
i put avon cobra chrome on my m109r and they were great tires ... the back tire on an m109r is 260 mm factory and i went with a 280 so they are massive in fact the front tire is actually a rear tire so you have to run it backwards ... crazy
Just to prove that we *are* learning something by watching RUclips - "the key is to beat it up without beating it up". That tractor gas cap seemed almost scripted, the way it broke free with perfect timing. I wonder when the exams will happen (i.e. when will I have to take something rusty apart again).
Great video again JR. 🤯💥 DAD FOOTAGE!!! NICE BONUS! I'm curious to see how the V-rod turns out. Please keep up on the Cushman updates. For some reason I can't wrap my head around the fact that in your dad's entire shop, you couldn't find a socket or something to get your bearings back into your bike.
A very thin layer of waterproof vaseline or antiseize is good enough to grease axle. No thick are layers are needed because excessive amount of grease comes out creating a mess.
Mig weld a good bead around the race of the old bearing. In 5 minutes once it cools, the weld shrinks pulling the bearing walls into it. Practically falls out after!
It would be really Awesome if you and your dad/brother do a resurrection car or truck build….!!! Shop truck or something with the family logo or something like that?!? Dad has Tons of knowledge would love to hear some!!!
I know family is its own thing, and sometimes it's best for all to have your own place, but maybe you could build a shop on your Dad's land (if he owns the land in your videos). I know I wish I could build near my dad. I know it would have its challenges, just a thought.
Should have use wax from a tea light candle. I learned somewhere on the internet that if you use wax makes it easier and you don't get the spray all over the place. I forgot that you were having problems with that axle on that v rod.
All your Dad needed was a bigger hammer . . . That axle and spacer were horrible. Seems like some quality billet parts and anti-seize grease should have been in the bike as built, but instead used trash. Glad you finally got it sorted out.
Wow another interesting video. I always wanted to watch someone take off a wheel and put it back on. What a great idea for content 🤣. Cmon man out of all those projects you are doing the most basic stuff

Your Dad is a pretty cool guy and a total gem! Liking the Cushman. Don't get rid of the Goldwing!
Your dad has a great sense of humour, "your move". Great text.

Always love seeing a fellow darksider. I have a car tire on my Honda shadow 1100
Would you get a similar text if you parked the Bentley in the shop? Or would the message be you move it?
Your Dad sending the picture of the axle on the ground was a big time Dad flex. “Your move”, indeed.
Is there anything you can put on that axle to prevent ceasing in future?

Wow Keep it it is nice bike you will injoy this bike,
Hello. I have the same issue with the rear axle in my HD fat bob. Can u upload the video how to fix it? Tnks
Mig weld a good bead around the race of the old bearing. In 5 minutes once it cools, the weld shrinks pulling the bearing walls into it. Practically falls out after!
inner or outer race?
@@alexcallas8222 your choice. Works awesome .
But how did they get the bearings out ? Still the same crap design as on my '89 I see. Do you still have to check the end float on those bearings ?
Speaking of wanting to see more of your Father , are we ever going to see the car crusher up and running ?
Your dad is a legend!
lol since Harley is based out of Milwaukee that rust probably comes free with the bike no extra charge
Thoughts on replacing the axle and spacer with new?
Your dad rides on the dark side. That's pretty cool 😎

Freeze the bearings and warm up the rim with a torch. Should drop in.
V-Rod co-developed with Porsche I believe. Cool bike

I think your dad should share more of his wisdom and future videos.
When doing mechanical work on your car and you get stopped by something: Dad? He always have a solution.
It would be really Awesome if you and your dad/brother do a resurrection car or truck build….!!! Shop truck or something with the family logo or something like that?!? Dad has Tons of knowledge would love to hear some!!!
I think your dad just stared at it and the axle gave up and got out on it's own
Axle and spacer need Never Seize on them.
Need a tour of your Dad’s shop. Let him wander and tell the stories about where and when he acquired all his treasures.
I know family is its own thing, and sometimes it's best for all to have your own place, but maybe you could build a shop on your Dad's land (if he owns the land in your videos). I know I wish I could build near my dad. I know it would have its challenges, just a thought.
You rock dad 👍
Dad for the win.
All Balls Racing! I've used their products on a number of my rides.
Used them for the USD fork swap on my Triumph a few years ago
Hi buddy, any news about the Bentley ?
some would argue that V-ROD's aren't cheap. quality issues for sure, but maybe inexpensive :)
Bearings go in primary side first. Front and rear are different.
Should have use wax from a tea light candle. I learned somewhere on the internet that if you use wax makes it easier and you don't get the spray all over the place. I forgot that you were having problems with that axle on that v rod.

Dad wasn't interested in JR's story about Coker tires with hand painted white-walls!
All your Dad needed was a bigger hammer . . . That axle and spacer were horrible. Seems like some quality billet parts and anti-seize grease should have been in the bike as built, but instead used trash. Glad you finally got it sorted out.
