My working line GSD had swimmers tail once. Her vet also called it Happy Tail. She wags her tail so much it got sprained. It was back to normal in a few days but I had never seen this before. Love watching you with your dogs. Mine is almost 13 but still loves to “work”.

Poor Jasper got lazy tail!!! I remember that happened to my yellow and we freaked thinking it was broken. It was because dumb dumb was swimming and playing in the cold river for hours. My new yellow got it the other day and I recognized it immediately. Poor guys! Having too much fun in the water! P.S. I know I say this every time, but….GORGEOUS animal
Spent several hundred dollars at an emergency vet to be told that they basically had sprained their tail….🤦♀️😑. Good news was that it would clear up in less than a week….happened to 2 of my dogs. Luckily we knew enough about it for second dog to not have to be out extra money for emergency vet in middle of the night…😉
Im so glad he's good to go. My girl fell off the bed and hurt her tail. It was crooked for over a month, it hurt her to potty, and she could barely wag it. Shes is ok now, but i dont ler her near the edge anymore.
I had a walker coon dog that broke his . Took him to the vet because he was chewing on it . Very high price vet at that . She said he would be ok to just put topical meds on it . Two days later he ate part of it off and buried it before we knew what was happening . I called the vet and she told me to bring him back in . No way I doctored him up and he never touched it again . He lived 10 more years best dog we had .
my dog gets swimmers tail occasionally and it is worrying to the eyes but you just rest them and they heal up real fast. also they seem to not give a fluff
It’s also called “drop tail” and can happen from swimming in cold water. I think it was Lady and the Blues who got it a year or two ago. It heals fairly quickly.
@@FurnitureFan , Rest helps, if that’s what it is, and not a sprain, or something else, like arthritis. Vets will give an anti inflammatory pain medicine as well. Look up “drop tail” or “limp tail” or “swimmers’ tail”. It has a lot of names.
I didn't know that was a thing 😮 I have a German Shepherd Belgian malinois mix that I need to watch for that because she has a very happy tail 😅😂 I hope his tail is wagging normally again

“Drop tail” can be caused by swimming in cold water. We don’t get snow here, but snow might be a factor.

I always kid my Shepherds tail is broken. Not cuz it hangs, it's cuz he only wags it when he's happy to see someone. Even then it's not for long lol.

We had this with one of ours after playing in her swimming pool. It shouldnt last too long - cold water can cause it.
Did he go in cold water. This happened to our shepherd after taking a dip in the water in the early spring once the ice came off the lake at camp.

Cold tail. My Labrador girl have had this two times. Very painful. But the Vet docror helped her with painkiller💉
One of our GSDs likes to pull in our other GSDs while playing. Same thing happened. It will be back to its normal waggin ina few days

We always used to call the vet's office "The House of Pain." All my pets agreed.
I think that I overheard Jasper's veterinarian prescribe one pup / per hour, until his tail muscles improve.
