We had a shepherd when i was a kid and he would make his patrol rounds through the house checking on everyone and would lay at the top of the stairs. There was no better security than that dog...lived to be 16 and went peacefully in his sleep of pure old age

Same with my Yorkshire/Cairnterrier Mix..
We had a shepherd mix when I was a kid. We lived in a cape cod, where my parent's bedroom was downstairs, and out bedrooms were upstairs. If we all went to bed before my father was home, she would sleep at the bottom of the stairs until he got home. Once he was home, she'd come upstairs and sleep in our room. I came to a few conclusions about her actions.
1. My father represented security
2. The bottom of the stairs was a central point of access to the bedrooms. If anyone broke into the house (not likely), they'd have to go past her to get to us.
3. Once Dad was home, she could relax, and come upstairs for a good night's sleep
Best dog in the world. I still miss her.
I love how she just goes right back to bed after the false alarm. Like, no need to get up and see what triggered them. Feeling perfectly safe with those three around her.
Only an imbecile would feel safe with only dogs. There was an invention many ages ago called FIREARMS that neutralizes any animal, person and even vehicle.
I can't do that. If something triggers my dogs' viscous barks at night, then i go check it out too. Yeah, they've got my back, but I've also got theirs

0:01 I love how the woman has a king sized bed and has to sleep on the very edge because the dogs get 90% of it.

for some reason dog know time like my dog he is always waking me up at 6:00am everyday onmy bed. I don't know how he know it is 6:00am already. He is a very effective alarm that i can't turn it off so i ended up wak up early everyday lol
how on earth do people sleep longer than 9 hours? I would have woken up at 3 for a walk and never go back to sleep. Those are good dogs unless they can go in and out without needing to be walked.
They were trying to wake her up pacifistically so they don’t get blamed. They know exactly what they are doing. So when she wakes up it’s like “oh your up well since your up and we absolutely did not wake you up can we go outside” highly intelligent dogs.
She sleeps soundly with three bodyguards on duty 24/7.
Except for the multiple times they step all over her and wake her up.

I love this! I have three huskies, and I get so many comments from people on a daily basis, about how crazy it is being a single person with three dogs. But I love them, I don’t know what I would do without them! Our nights are a lot like this, but my babies are far more demanding for mattress space 😂
I had 3 JRTs at the same time (sadly 2 are 🌈🪽😭) so I know the protection that dogs gladly provide. So watchful but still the best goofy playmates.
I would have loved to have a husky or 2 in my younger days. I love their attitude and character! Unfortunately, i don't have the energy for one anymore. They would go stir crazy and probably turn destructive out of boredom
I love huskies and would get one if I lived in a colder climate

They are very good dogs. Some people frown about their vocal talents, personally I find them quiet soothing and more than hilarious.@@ray5357

Edit 12/16/23 wife's cousin had oops litter and is giving away puppies. Picked 3 last night, will have new dogs February first. (Getting 3 puppies from the same litter sounds crazy, but the parents are awesome and healthy, and we're used to having three dogs.)

They're all about protecting Mama from marauders! They either surround her bed perimeter or surround her body on the bed. Barks no barks, no wonder she sleeps so soundly with that kind of devoted security team around her! Good babies! 💖

Wife and I have two dobermans. Security not an issue in our house. We sleep like babies. I had a 2 night hospital stay last week and it was nice knowing our security team was in hyper alert mode.

its cute, but if she sleeps 10 hours a day then do you figure the dogs have a doggy door to go the bathroom or are they holding it 10 hours a day every day? Im hoping they have a doggy door.
My German shepherd is the same way 😅 no one's coming in without full alarm mode. I say he makes it like hotel California. You can check in but you'll NEVER leave 😅

Well it's not like they have a office job to go to in the morning. I'm sure they get their sleep throughout the entire day.
Not unusual for younger dogs. They sleep more than humans but typically break it up throughout the day. Even my senior dog who spends most of her day sleeping wakes frequently through the night and changes spots.
Looks like they get no stimulation and get restless at night.
she apparently does, shes almost asleep for 10 hours. Since dogs seem to require about 12, they don't usually sleep all at once. It's really bad to sleep that long. Most people get cranky but then others develop an energy loss if they don't get 10 hours of sleep. I am just amazed they didn't need to go the bathroom
The real crime here is sleeping at 8 PM when you don't have to wake up at 4 AM.
We had German shepherds when i was growing up and I used to sneak them into my room at night (not sure who decided it was a good idea to give me the room next to the back door). This was exactly what it was like for me ❤

If I went to bed at 8pm I would wake up at 2-3 am
Plenty of time to get stuff done then. Going to the gym at 4 in the morning is alot better than going to the gym at 9 in the evening.Fewer people.@@tuff9486

My dad was smart to adopt an austrailian shepherd mix while i was growing up. That dog was a bit like another mom to me. when i had my twin bed her favorite spot was under the bed, never thought about how hidden she was when youre kid-sized. She was a protector from start to finish, miss that dog.
They're the best security system ever!

I have two Malinois: I go to bed at night, they're curled up next to me, I wake up in the morning, they're still curled up next to me (the male against my back, the female against the back curve of my legs). They don't roam around at night, they sleep all night on the bed next to me and don't get moving until I get up (then they both pile into the bathroom outside my shower as I get ready for the day).
I think they’d chase out anyone who broke in

3 GSDs sharing you bed? That has got to be one hairy bed. 1 GSD = a lot of shedding. 3 GSDs, wow!

I have a GSD and he's my baby but he has to sleep in his own bed next to mine for this very reason! Hims too hairy!!! I vacuum multiple times a day!

My lone shep moves around to various spots throughout the night. She also will pull a stunt if I'm eating and I have her away from me. The begging, so she jumps up to act like she is chasing the cat and will the make move to beg.
