LRS Electric Mack LR Heil Rear Loader Garbage Truck

- While rolling through Oak Park today, I stumbled upon this truck that I thought was just an ordinary LR on yard waste, but after further investigation, I realized that this was the elusive LRS electric truck! I first learned about this when a good buddy sent me a picture of it at a parade a couple weeks back and I didn’t exactly know if LRS even ran the thing. I would have assumed it came out of the LRS yard in Chicago but instead it must be out of Maywood. It is still crazy to me how quiet the truck can be when driving, but I suppose that will become more normal as electric trucks grab on more. The truck being louder while it was just idling with the PTO on as opposed to driving was kind of funny. I’m not so sure if LRS is buying more of these actively, I believe the driver said it was about $600,000 so I don’t exactly think that they will but I wouldn’t be surprised if more of these turn up.  at some point I’ll have to go back and get some more footage, but yard waste was pretty light today so this is all I got. Enjoy one of the first electric trucks running in the Midwest.

Beautiful new truck but that buzzing would drive me crazy too.
Curotto Can Man that's unusual a Diesel LR has a Loud Engine and Packer but this Electric LR has a Quiet Truck Chassis and a Very Quiet Packer But If I was a Swamper on this Truck I probably couldn't take standing That Constant Buzzing!

Apparently the buzzing sound is coming from the hydraulics
I feel like something is wrong with it. With how loud that buzzing sound is on video, it has to be awful in real life. That compactor is very slow too!

Nice looking brand-new Heil Durapack 5000 body, but junk "electric" Mack LR! The cycle time seems measurably slower than the same body with a Mack diesel LEU + that loud buzzing is extremely annoying! Mobile Alabama purchased an full-automated ASL full-electric Mack + now kind of regrets it as that truck has been in the shop for issues more than it's been out on route! And the purchase price of one of these electric garbage trucks is likely 3-4 times what an equivalent diesel model would cost.
