What oz would you use for the inlet using 6 inch jerkshad?

It can depend on where in the inlet and also what day/conditions. If fishing the slower current window and a calmer day 3/4-1oz, other times might require 1-3oz. I rarely fish bucktails larger than 3oz. When I need more weight I change over to a single drop rig.... a loop on the bottom for a bank sinker and then a single dropper loop above with a single hook. Hope that makes sense. Also with regards to the inlet... if fishing the outer rocks you will not need much to fish the south side as it is significantly more shallow than if you are fishing the inside/north side of the rocks where it's 20-30-40-50' deep in areas with significantly more current and also snags in spots.

what lures would you recommend for surf fishing lbi july 4th week? Im going for the first time and I think im going to throw spoons for blues, and then clams and maybe get lucky with a striper.

@@mattvail3190 It's had to beat a diamond jig and a bucktail. They can be great on the surf for striped bass, bluefish and fluke. As far as a plug... SP Minnow or Yozuri LC Minnow.
