I think the thing with the gem finder feature being in 2 was it was a secret that nobody would have done if they didn't know the button prompt for it. Even though it was in 2 and made as an unlockable in 3, I don't think the actual prompt was known beforehand - feel free to counterpoint this since I've done no research yet. Also, while I do like skill points I don't like how some of them are missable. You get ONE SHOT for doing some of them - an in-exhaustive list being placing the 5 idol heads on the middle platform in Sgt. Byrd's area in Molten Crater, shooting out the stained glass windows in Sgt. Byrd's area in Charmed Ridge, and by god if you miss that secret dino in Agent 9's section in Dino Mines you're fucked. Other ones are somewhat annoying and out-of-the-way, like doing 3 laps of the supercharge course in Fracture Hills. Who would do that? Why would anyone go to Scorch and go to the area where you knocked monkeys out of trees for Hunter and ram into all of them again? How would anyone know catching a specific fodder chicken in Seashell Shore would give them a skill point? If you beat the yeti for the two eggs he had and didn't beat him in two rounds, WHY WOULD YOU DO IT AGAIN? WHO WOULD SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO THAT? Point is, skill points are ridiculous. If they ever do a remaster of the spyro trilogy, I hope skill points are one thing they change for more convenience and non-missability. I've tried doing it before and since my disc of Spyro 3 is scratched so much it can't play certain levels (on the last world, no less), I've failed almost every time before I forgot to do these inane things. At least the ones where you had to earn a high score like the skateboard courses made sense.

Great stream. It has been a bit of a nostalgic trip as I havent played Spyro 1 in a long time. Are you going to do the same for Spyro 2 or just Spyro 1?
After watching this I am getting an appreciation that each Level in a hub world is working with a similar theme to them. As in Spyro 2 I enjoy there was many diverse worlds none of them had a coherent theme tying them to a hub area.

I haven't played any actual N64 games (only remakes), but I feel like people only like the console because of nostalgia. I recall reading on TV Tropes that the hardware was hard to develop for due to lack of a dedicated sound chip(?) and the expensive cartridges, so "most Nintendo 64 games not developed by Nintendo or Rare are considered So Okay, It's Average at best." I can't remember where it was, though.
Maybe I'm just annoyed with ONM singing Ocarina of Time's praises from the rooftops for months on end when the remake came out. They once had a feature about how OOT was the most influential game of all time because it had realistic graphics for the time. What.

I don't like how music is a mass noun.
