Awesome work - definitely takes that area up several notches! And it's cool to see your progression in video production, keep it up! Look forward to seeing what your next window upgrade project looks like in a few months!
Great job. This gives it such a high-quality look. I can't believe after 30 years of making stuff this was the first time I have heard of flexible molding. I always did it the hard way. I will have to check in to that. Thanks for sharing.
@@RLLWoodworks I think cutting kerfs would drive me crazy with trying to get the right angles. I use a couple different methods. Take some hardwood cut at certain angles and finger glue them together. Then I cut it to size. I have also used plywood and glue them together to get the size I need. The last was steaming lumber. That one is time-consuming. Sorry I didn't want to make this too detailed. It would have been a long post. I still like your way of doing it. It definitely makes it easier. I haven't had the chance to go through their website yet but will look into that.
@@RLLWoodworks I wouldn't go that far. I appreciate the comment. I think that everyone learns a little bit from everyone. Before RUclips if you wanted to make something you had to learn from mistakes. Now with RUclips you can watch other makers and come away with some good tips and ideas. Just like finding out about the flexible molding that you used. So well done back to you.
Is the inside drywalled? If so I just painted mine and it looks great. If you need to add something I would get a thin piece of PVC trim and rip it to width. It will be flexible enough. 👍🏻
Great job! Thanks for posting... I was looking for some insight on how to go about trimming my arched window as well. Wasn't certain if I needed to install window casing around the inside frame.
Any knowledge about how long “CA glue” last in years? How does it accept latex and oil based paint? Does “CA glue” hold any structural properties? Jw be sometimes quick help tools aren’t worth it in the long term. Thanks for the video!
These are great questions!! I’ve been using it for about 3 years and have some projects where it’s still holding up great. Never had an issue painting over it and I feel it is very strong but when used on wood, I think wood glue would probably be stronger if clamped and dried properly. Thanks for commenting!
it's just super glue with an accelerator to dry faster. you can get the accelerated (and the glue) at hobby lobby, but any super glue will work, and you'll save some money
Can you share exact casing specs you used? 3 1/4"? I trying to identify what specific model you use for the apron and the flexible molding. I have same windows pattern here. Thanks.
Yes sir! The exact measurement is 1-1/16” x 3-1/2”. The item number is WBNRB3 on flexiblemillwork.com. This should match the RB3 casing you can buy at the big box stores. Hope this helps but let me know if not. Thanks!
should've blocked your plate up a little bit, and you're way over thinking the rubber. just tack it up to have plenty on the ends and use your woo woo saw (oscillating saw)to cut the joints with a little back bevel
Great question! The blinds come with brackets that screw through the sides or the top. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense and shoot me a DM on Instagram and I’ll send you a close up pic.
Yes sir! Flexiblemillwork.com they have good customer service so call or email if you are unsure. I had to search “RB3” to find the exact profile I needed. Let me know if you need more specifics! How many arches are you doing?
@@RLLWoodworks awesome, thank you for the reply, I'm doing 2 half circle arches in my home. I found exactly what I needed at Flexiblemillwork! Thanks Again!
Wow, amazing. I’ve got roughly 6 of the arched windows that are rotted and need to be replaced. The quotes I keep getting are crazy so I think I’ll try a diy. If you’re ever in Charlotte and want the work, I’d love your help! 😁

Looks great, how did you install the arch shade? That's the problem I have, there is nothing to mount the shade to.
Yoooo when that pop out mounding shelf popped up, so did i
Lol yeah those things come in handy

Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad I could share a bit of info. Did you cut a bunch of kerfs and bend it that way?

That looks amazing. It really changed the entire feel and look (obviously) of that wall of windows. Great job.
Thanks Shane! It’s the last thing I see at night and first thing I see in the morning so it had to be done. Appreciate you watching man.
Thank you so much for sharing! This was exactly what I was looking for.
How has the flexible trim held up for the last two years? Has it cracked at all? What type of paint did you use to paint it?
No issues!! Looks just like they day I finished it. I used SW infinity in a satin (latex).
awesome job, buddy! 👏 incredible, what a difference this makes. this must've been the view caesar had out of his palace windows. 😄✌
Haha thanks Lukas! Caesar’s Palace is just the look we were going for!
That was ok should have made your own molding. God Bless you.
Thanks! I wish I had the skills and tools to do that. Would be very cool.
I have 2 quarter arch windows to trim. Purchased the flexible molding however not sure how to trim the inside of the arch!

they make rubber for that too
Very nice work Rory. That looks like a tricky project. Some great advice there.
Thanks! Took a bit to get the hang of it but really happy with the results. Big fan of that product.

How did you find a flexible trim to match your architrave?.
Flexiblemillwork.com has all the trim profiles I just measured the pattern of mine and matched it up.
Super.
Thank you!!
Can you link where you got the trim from? I have arched windows too and I cannot find matching trim and flex trims anywhere

You cut angle for the rubber trim was 45? On each side
Yeah. Kind of a pain because the radius is up against the mitersaw fence so you kind of have to guess the correct placement.

also to add. be aure youve got a SHARP quality blade in your saw ir it will grab the rubber and possible fingers with it. cut SLOW. VERY SLOW
He looks like he went to college but for sure he said leaved instead of left lol
The design is off meaning the mold is to slim for those pillons and the position is off but the handywork is genuis, keep up the good work
Thanks!
Nice job! I am really impress by the final result. Can i PM you. I have a similar project but i am not sure how to do it. Thanks
