As a former barista, 3 and 4 hole steam wand tips are quite common but that's because we're sometimes steaming a lot of milk and let's be honest, everyone wants their coffee yesterday. After using my housemates BBE it does feel a lot slower but hey, I'm not in a rush so the single nozzle is good enough for me.
Thanks for making this video. I think alot of BBE owners do not realized it's not easy to texture milk with 3-hole nozzle. As a BBE user myself who can confidently texture milk consistently with the stock nozzle, but 3-hole nozzle is almost like different ball game. Had a chance steaming with 3 holes nozzle on a Rocket machine, it was hard and I felt like a total noob learning to steam. Appreciate the effort you put out on your first try!
I have a three hole and a one hole for my steam wand. I have been using the three hole and have been able to froth milk but I'm starting to think my machine just may not have enough steam pressure for three holes so I am going to try the one hole and see how it goes.
I observed that your frothing made a load noise. I purchased the Breville Barista Express in June 2021 & it was quiet when frothing! I’ve since cleaned & descaled my machine three times. After the first time it became louder as was yours in this video! I clean the frothier & nozzle after use & remove the nozzle once weekly cleaning it but still have noise? Please advise what could be the problem!
That loud noise at the beginning is normal. But it can be avoided if you lift up the steam wand a bit towards the surface of the milk and introduce bubbles at the beginning. Then you can dip a bit more and you won't hear that long noise. Its nothing to do with the steam wand or dirt build up in it.
You should have introduced more air with the three-hole tip. It is understandable as you are pretty new to this tip. I will be waiting to hear if it is worth investing in it. Keep it up.
Thank you. 3 holes can introduce big bubbles quickly, so i was being careful not to. I could try it only that day. I didn't even get time to make coffee last few days. Hoping to get time to froth on this 3 hole soon.
I'd say its more to do with the 3rd hole which is close to the surface that introduce big bubbles often. It's more to do with the position to fix I guess. I'm still learning to froth on this 3 hole nozzle.
@@AjusCafe I'm saying that your milk isn't one texture due to you not vortexing enough which you can tell by when you pour the latte art, notice how the milk rushes to the edges and breaks the surface. That's because the "liquid" is rushing to the bottom and destroying the surface then near the end all the foam comes out. I can add a lot of air into my milk but if I don't vortex to break those bubbles down and incorporate the air to make one emulsified liquid then it honestly doesn't matter what tip you use. You should be hearing that paper tearing sound which means you're introducing air within the first 10-20 second, once your milk gets too warm the milk will have a hard time incorporating the air you introduced. Start with you wand submerged in the milk and slowly lower your pitcher till you start hearing that light introduction of air, it should be a light but constant paper tearing sound and let that go for around 10 seconds or till the milk reaches you hands temperature. Then submerge the wand and just keep swirling the milk, try to more your pitcher as little as possible other than up and down. After it gets too hot to touch give it another 3-4 secs then you are good.
@@slow_clumsy Agree to your points. I've explained those in my old video here ruclips.net/video/xoy-8IAEu54/видео.html Here my point was 3 hole steam nozzle acts very different to 1 hole nozzle. That's were it lacks to get the correct consistency in this video.
Hi Aju, Good morning, liked your video onDIY knock-box😄,; also this video- I know it is from Alibaba and it will take sometime to arrive, but Amazon has a 4 hole which would help in steaming it faster? Would it better or too much.
Thank you 😏 Its from aliexpress.com and it can take 2-4 weeks. You can get them at Amazon. 2 or 3 holes would be slightly better than 4 holes, as the machine won't have enough power to push enough steam. But i didn't read anyone complaining either.
Different number of hole designed for different purpose, like if most of user on your home not trained, u can use 1 hole tip, because different number of hole need different jug handling.
Looks like the heating time is about the same, though not clear why you even bothered with the 2 ounce water heating test. The milk frothing test seems inconclusive; if it does not warm faster, do you get better frothing quality or not? My guess is that you'd need much stronger steam production to successfully use a 3 hole tip and that a 3 hole tip on this machine produces a weaker steam velocity and thus worse frothing quality. Of course, I am not sure, only a guess.
Heating time is slightly faster in 3 hole nozzle. Initially it was hard to froth, but after getting used to it, i don't want to go back to single hole. Froth quality is more of less same and depends on the person. But just for that slight faster frothing capability, I'd stick on to the 3 hole.
It’s great to have someone like yourself to do the roadwork on different equipment and help the home barista make decisions on upgrades
Thank you.

Rocket has a much quicker froth. But once you get it, its easy

Do you know if any 1 hole tips that are similar to the 3 hole? I don’t like the one from breville express.
You can look for it in amazon, aliexpress etc. Sometimes you will be lucky to find one

Your milk isn't one texture, there's a seperation of foam and milk due to insufficient amount of vortexing

Now that I'm looking back on it, your milk also looks too thin. I don't think you're adding enough air ironically

Can you add link where you got 3hole tip thanks
I'll update the description as well. Here is the link www.aliexpress.com/item/4001298100346.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6a2c4c4dCXNMxe
Is it worth it?? Or better of with original.
Take care

Too early to say as I'm new to this. But 3 hole can froth milk quicker than the Breville's, which i like.

Try to hold the jug until the milk doesn't scream in pain when you froth, you will get much better result
