That was a great story! As much as I like seeing people do the return of smudger stories, I think this is much more interesting seeing someone do the return of Stanley!
Nice to see Stanley returned. Pretty good American accent you gave him too fitting his origin (Baldwin Locomotive works which was only 45 minutes from where I live)
@@DOTD-Ko7382 Nope. Stopped making locos in 1956 with the three experimental RP-210 passenger engines for the New Haven (NH) and New York Central (NYC). The company closed for good as Baldwin Lima Hamilton in 1972.
@@DOTD-Ko7382 they closed because they didnt do well in the diesel market after railroads gave up steam. They made their diesels like their steam where no 2 engines were alike making it difficult to maintain them. The diesels also had many flaws including the massive "Centipedes" they just couldn't compete against EMD, GE, or even ALCO who hung on for a long time. The shop building can sadly be no longer found as the shop was demolished years ago
Really nice story/video. I remember that there were rumours saying that Stanley/Smudger got relocated to Boulder Quarry and got destroyed by Boulder. But now this makes more sense than that rumour I heard because what happened after the mines shut down after Stanley/Smudger broke down is basically covered up as no known proof in post-Railway Series.
You know, with how often you reference events from the TV Series, its easy for me to forget that this is primarily based in The Railway Series timeline. This episode helps to reinforce that.
Now this story really did take me by surprise. I didn't expect to see the RWS Stanley make an appearance anywhere. Where did the inspiration for this story come from?
They didn’t have time, they just couldn’t be bothered making a model that would have no use in later seasons unlike the Class 40 Diesel before they decided to drop during S6’s production,
There was never anything about Stanley being buried alive in the mine, even from the Sodor book by the Awdry brothers on pg.136 there was nothing mentioned about that. Here is a link to the PDF provided: www.mediafire.com/file/y457f9f44d5xf1a/The_Island_Of_Sodor_PDF.pdf/file
I saw a picture on your DA gallery regarding Sir Handel and Peter Sam, then with no names and grey liveries. Are you planning on making their pasts on the Peel Godred works too? I did a story just like that years ago, liveries, no names, the whole package. It's me, TobyandMavisForever.
Sean Sheehan No, Smudger is budget Stanley because why would they need to spend so much money on a making a model for one episode? They are the same character and your idea just makes no sense. Smudger is not part of my series, plain and simple. He only exists in my universe as a made for TV character meaning he was just made up.

I agree Tom. He did a really good job of an American accent. And yep, 45 minutes from you on the old PRR Maryland Division.
Is baldwin works still open?

I like how you gave Stanley a proper backstory. It’s RWS accurate but we can still sympathize with him
I think being bashed with the pick did something good for Stanley
Looks interesting, glad to see the MSR Stanley 👏🏽👏🏽
Can’t wait to watch this! You’re an absolute legend love watching your videos!

I love the way you spoke like Stanley!
I’m excited to see Duke’s continuation of the story.
You really can do any voice, INSPIRATIONAL. I loved how cartoony Stanley’s cries were

Wonderful, as always! Gotta admire Stanley's stubbornness, even if it was a bit foolish.
Nice job editing the thumbnail! Looks so flawless!
Great video NWR1991! You have to share this to SiF, they will love your video for sure;)
Well done, nice originality with the story 😊
Really good story, nice backstory to Stanley

It just popped into my head one day.

Yay thank god its something different! U always make ur story's So interesting I love them!!!
An excellent story!
Wonderful episode
Loved this story :3
Wow great job I guess this goes to show every deserves a 2nd chance.
I wonder how will Duke and Stanley will getting along in the future ?
You seemed to nail the American accent well.
R.I.P the miners
Not a bad American Accent. Sounds a bit British still, but not bad by any standards. Great story all in all.
Nice job. Great American accent!
Since Stanley is back, what’s become of Smudger?
he never existed
Yeah
@YOrbiTer 12 yeah
Smudger is just somebody that we used to know.
They didn’t have time, they just couldn’t be bothered making a model that would have no use in later seasons unlike the Class 40 Diesel before they decided to drop during S6’s production,
That’s smudgers story a little bit glad Stanley got a story.
Smudger WAS Stanley in the TV series because of budget reasons. They are literally the same character.
Omg i love this story
what, but how, last I checked he was buried alive in one of the old mines. after he failed keeping the water out.

NWR1991 🧐 that seems to be correct my mistake. I just thought, with all that water it would make everything cave in.
@@NWR1991 Nor does it say anything about scrapping.
Yeah, he was abandoned. I didn’t say anything about scraping

A good story, but in 1917 Stanley would have still been with the US Army Transportation Corps on the Western Front.
Soundwave3591 - Never realised that but can’t do anything about it now.
Fairly certain he could have been sold off as army surplus in 1917 that is when WWI ended in terms of conflict
@@sockshandle I think you mean 1918.
that was a great story, i feel foolish about my last comment, I always thought he was sent to the bottom of the mine to do his job and never up top.
hey what happened to blue engine for sale from season 2 episode 9
