It's amazing how much a solder joint can deteriorate over time. Thanks again for the video.
You are welcome!
Is this perhaps a front control where the circuit board is subject to excessive heat from the oven? The heat doesn't need to melt the solder, just abuse it with thermal expansion and contraction. I'm just speculating and would love feedback from an expert.
@@KeithHanlanthat's a mighty good theory, IMO
The unit sits on the front yes but it's well isolated from the oven so it shouldn't get to much heat from it. Most of the heat I believe is due from the power going through it that it generates itself. And yes thermal expansion and contraction from heat cycles is the cause of these issues.
@@NicksElectronicRepair thank you for the explanation. My oven has an small cooling fan for the panel that is annoyingly loud. Nothing has failed but I sure would prefer a simpler design that didn't require circuitry. I just want to turn electricity into heat. I already have a clock on the wall.
Great repair, I learned something new. Thank you for your work!
Thanks for watching!
Where did you learn how to fix these things?
Do you have a background in Electrical Engineering?
I'd like to learn more about these topics.
Just tinkering. Bought a broken TV on craigslist one day and googled how to fix it. Thought it was a lot of fun to fix it so I kept doing it until I started a TV repair business, then more general electronics and here we are 9 years later
