- This time, I had a quick layover in Frankfurt, Germany, where I had a few hours to spend touring the city! Here's what I did on my quick Frankfurt Layover.
Thankfully it was a nice day to walk around - with so many locals and tourists enjoying the beautiful day in Frankfurt!
The biggest draw is the old part of the city, so I started my Frankfurt layover journey in Römer - a medieval building in the Altstadt Frankfurt am Main. It's one of the city's most important landmarks.
You can check out a permanent exhibit of the Roman ruins. They were discovered underground after the city was destroyed in 1944 during World War II. And don't miss the Frankfurter Dom. This Frankfurt Cathedral is one of the few structures that survived the Allied Bombing of Germany in 1944.
As in many other big cities, Frankfurt has a one of those bridges where lovers can add a padlock to symbolize their eternal love. A pedestrian bridge over the River Main, called Eiserner Steg, or the Iron Bridge, is Frankfurt's love lock bridge.
My favorite place to get kebab in Frankfurt is along the River Main. You won't miss it - it is a small boat docked on the river bank called Meral Imbiss. It is fairly cheap, and you can either eat the food along the river bank, or hop onto the second level deck of the boat.
Here's our review of the Oslo Airport Lounge - OSL Lounge that I mentioned in the video:

You're so welcome!

With the train from the airport, you filmed this while they were working on the platforms. The trains to the city usually leave from platform 1. You can also stay on the train until you get to the city center, the Hauptwache or Konstablerwache, instead of getting off at the main station, the Hauptbahnhof. Walk down the Kaiserstrasse or Munchenerstrasse instead of going through the RLD.
That's awesome to know! Thanks Jo!
In the daytime, the area around the Hauptbahnhof looks much scarier than it is, but those kinds of scenes are always more offputting if you don't speak the language or know the city at all. I'd recommend to most people on a layover to ride the S-Bahn to Hauptwache -- not really a longer ride and just as easy getting back, but you come out in a much more obviously tourist-friendly part of Frankfurt. (Folks who want authentic Chinese food should definitely get out at the Hauptbahnhof, though, and walk up the Kaiserstrasse -- there are several excellent places to choose from.)
Thank you for the clarification!
THANKS A LOT.

We look forward to seeing you around 😃
An enjoyable video. I have been to Frankfurt, and like you enjoyed sightseeing. If you visit the red light district which is opposite the station, you have to be aware what's going on around you and try and avoid eye contact with the druggies and dossers, and definitely avoid the area at night.
Thank you, Robert! Yes, I figured that the area I wondered into wasn't best to explore at night. Thank you for the tips!
The old people are out of order too...
LOL!
