Memel got renamed to Klaipeda (which is my home city) knowing that that Hitler walked in the city centre of my city feels weird and knowing every street he is walking in.
My Mom was 9 when Hitler came to Memel. When he came into power there was the usual honeymoon period. All mothers whose husband's were at war were assigned household help. So a young Russian girl named Olaga Besdominikowa came to live with and help my Omi, my mom Irmgard 8yrs old then ( now an incredibly young looking & acting 86 yr old) & her two younger brothers. The whole family absolutely loved Olga. Olga treated my mom like a sister & vice versa. When Hitler came to Memel 'Klaipeda' she & her best school friend stood front of the crowd. Both pretty, blue eyed, blond haired little girls waited excitedly with flowers 💐 to give to Hitler as a walked by. As Hitler was ready to pass, he looked down at both little girls & stopped then with a big smile took one bunch of flowers & patted both girls on the head warmly. To this day my tells her friends in both Germany & here in the U.S where she immigrated to after the war, " I am the first in my neighborhood in Memel to have hated Hitler from that day forward!" Hitler chose her friend's flowers over her's and hell hath no fury than a little girl scorned!Especially a stubborn Memel born German! Lol 😆 My Omi's husband my Mutti's father ( a beloved school teacher ) died after he came home on a short furlough and returned to fight. In 1944 my Omi, my mom 10 at that time & her 2 younger brothers fled the Russians in Winter. It took almost 3 months. My Omi put most important pictures a papers in the safe place in my uncle Ziggy's baby carriage & set off on the long journey west with a 10 yr old girl, a 7 yr old son Hartmutt and Lil' Ziggy. They walked, were picked up by empty Nazi trucks going West to pickup more supplies and of course crowded into boxcar's like Sardines. Anytime the train stopped for water they were allowed to get out and do their bathroom routines in the snow ditches, during which those who had died in the boxcars were taken out while and unceremoniously dumped into the ditch. My Oma had a dead man leaning against her for hours but didn't know until she stepped to go outside the boxcar & a feel to the ground. My uncle Ziggy at 2yrs old was very sick and the 1st time meine Mutti saw the dead thrown into the ditch she was increadably frightened that would happen to her younger brother Ziggy. Outside of the countless horrors there were many instances of where families had taken them in for the night. One time before Christmas they were taken in by a wealthy doctor & his wife. They were given deloused, hair was cut lice etc killed and they had hot baths for 1st time in months. On Christmas morning they were given gifts of clean cloths and the Dr arranged that my sick uncle was put into a hospital. He had been so very close to death. Well it all ended well. They arrived In Lübeck, Germany where my Omi remarried one of the 2 most important men in my life. Dr Helmut Frohberg 1st ended up Oberstaatsanwalt in Fensburg and then finally Lübeck. My mom was only supposed to go to America for a year to learn language & business but she ended up meeting the 1st most important man in my life my dad Holdeck. His dad, my opa had lost his wife so he brought up 3 boys & 2 girls by himself in Free City of Danzig, Poland. My Opa knew 4 languages and worked for whomever was in control of the trains. He worked as a translater, had bought an old castle like home where he and his family & cousins etc whoever needed a place could live. Opa Mielke used to steal cows that were meant for German officers. He'd arrange it so he could take one, walk it quietly through town middle of night , then downstairs to one of the basements where he'd slaughter it peice by peace, wrap pieces in newspapers. My dad & his brothers had sent word that neighbors should come to the window after 2AM & they'd have meat. They made vodka, traded for weapons etc but by helping people it wasn't until later the Nazis came to look for him. Long story he was never caught and he fled with his kids to America eventually to Chicago. Thats were my dad met my mom they all became citizens and eventually my dad was a finance man and was transferred to Southern California in 1970. It was paradise then. My opa & family invested their money together and after long lean years in Chicago they all achieved the American dream and more. As kids we worked from 12 yrs old on at our investment apartment buildings, my dad was wealthy but I still had to work my way through college and take loams for law school. I saw my omi & opi in Germany more than my American friends whos grandparents only lived a state or less away. My sister Birgit Rotter married a German moved to Lübeck and two boys my wonderful German nephew's Cristoph at 30 has had his choice in women but he feel in love with Roma who just happens to be from Klaipeda where I believe the most you beautiful women ,in every way are from.

Nice to see so many people supporting and respecting the authorities. The opposite of what we see today.
That’s because they served the people, not corporate interests, oligarchs, plutocrats, and capitalists.

The bottom line: the Germans are using the word Nazis as a smokescreen, referring to somebody else, but them, that comes,, say, from the moon😂The word should be: Nazi Germany.

Lithuania was neither communist nor part of the Soviet Union at that time.
