- In Poland, these are just some of the reasons the far right might attack you: for carrying an LGBTQ flag, for peacefully protesting outside a church, for marching in a Pride parade, for being pro-choice.
Why are adult angry white men attacking women and people holding rainbows? In short, the government is encouraging it.
In this episode of Decade of Hate, host Tim Hume looks at how Poland’s populist government and powerful Catholic Church are stripping women and the LGBTQ community of their rights, and how the far right is using the opportunity to physically attack people who don’t fit their narrow worldview.
As Poland lets hate groups do its dirty work, we hear from activists who are determined to keep up the fight for their rights.

Went to Poland alone. Took buses and trains all around the south, People were helpful and kind. Although they generally look angry if you speak to them they will go above and beyond to help you, made friends easily. Went to Paris, thought I was going to get stabbed every 5 mins. Went to London, a gang robbed my umbrella 😂

They slowly dehumanise Poles in social media so if there is a need to invade Poland, it will be justified and no one will protest against invading “fascists”. Poland is growing in power. Our economic growth exploded. Polish currency is to be stronger than gbp pound just past 2030 and Poland following its economic growth is to become richer than the U.K. by 2030. I love Poland, I am Mexican and lived there for 2 years and a half, I only got harassed once by some drunk guys at the metro, nothing serious really, we know drunk people most of the times behave in a very stupid way. This was just 3 days after my arrival to the country, nonetheless the rest of my staying I had a very good time, Polish people may seem to be angry all the time however it is just an image, they are very cool people and if you know few words in polish they will respect you more as a foreigner.

That's the idea of "protectionism against degeneration" in practice. "Degeneration" is only a meaningless buzzword for anything someone doesn't like.
There's also the fact that there's some kind of affinity between them and us hispanoamericans. Polish people have been looked aside through times, as if they were second class citizens in their own continent, along many of the other Slavic countries.
Also, they have lived through though times, first due to their country being disbanded and split, and later due to the communist rule, and they have had to work hard to reach to where they are now, heading to be one of the top economies of the region.
So, when they see people, coming to their country, they want to know what brought you there and what are your intentions. If they see you are there to add something valuable, and integrate into their society, they'll receive you without any issue, and you'll easily make friends there.
But if they see that the "new guy" is up to no good, with no intention to work and add to the society, they won't be happy about it, as they know already the issues that other EU countries are currently facing.
Also, polish ppl are very direct, so if they don't like something, they won't hesitate to express it.

I consider the current Polish government to be "bad", not just for Poland but for EU as well and this is due in large part to their "extremist behavior" of replacing judges in their court system who might block their policies. It worries me that corruption has such a strong grasp in Poland.

@@LilFaerl I think the video doesn't really show the matter in a objective way, missing on the facts like positive feedback loop created by both sides in this conflict, or the pro left party not being saint as well. After watching the video you get the impression of clear victims and their oppressor, where in reality the "victim" side shows the same tendencies as the "oppressor" side if it was behind the steering wheel, the difference is that it would target religions etc (which is not good, even though I'm an atheist) It's very complicated for me to describe, but basically: Both sides are in my opinion hypocrites

If you come to Poland, respect locals traditions, learn some very few basic words like Good Morning (Dzien Dobry) or goodbye (Dowidzenia) and etc, follow law and abide to our traditions and culture, you will be 99% safe. I say 99% because no matter in which country you are in, there is always 1% chance something terrible might happen to you.
We poles love visitors as long as they respect our culture and traditions. If you try to protest against that, we will come hard back at you. So if you dont like it then go somewhere where you can do whatever you like.
We have some minorities living here and they are welcomed by us because they adapt to our values and traditions. They do not try to shove their beliefs down our throat. So no, 99% of us are not facist, racist or dangerous e.g. to homosexuals, as long as you follow our country's value and traditions.

Poland has a very difficult political situation - why? Because in Poland politicians do what they can to divide our nation. Nationalists, feminists and the LGBT community are both guilty of extreme aggression. Feminists have demolished churches, nationalists have beaten others, LGBT activists have offended the police.
Why is this happening? Because Polish politicians and political organizations (possibly financed from other countries) quarrel Poles. Most Poles are moderate, support the abortion compromise, are tolerant of LGBT people, but don't support LGBT propaganda in schools, they are patriots etc.
However, even these moderate Poles are radicalizing themselves, because propaganda on TV or on the Internet (closing themselves in bubbles) destroys people. But Poles don't let themselves quarrel, recently an old woman kissed the legs of an LGBT activist, a few months ago a left-wing girl hugged an old homophobe.
These are just symbols, but they really mean a lot.
I hope that the Polish nation will manage to survive and not divide into Poland A and Poland B.

My mums polish and I lived part of my life in Poland it is a really difficult subject Poland has always been a very catholic country and has always been old fashioned however what is shown does not highlight all that actually happens it is also much rarer than it is made our to be
I understand Catholicism is also part of the Polish national culture [which I find very cool], just like Islam is part of the national culture of many Middle Eastern countries. You can always find extremists in every religion and culture. I'm Mexican and Christianity [Catholicism] is also a very part of my country, it's part of our national culture. @@JesusChristFromNazareth Nope. Not at all. It does not. I am a guy who struggles with those tendencies and I have been supported so much by my confessor and priest. They are a God send in my walk with God against those temptations. The Holy Church has never condemned me, it has never hated me. It has embraced me as its own just like it does to any sinner who wishes to return to God. I do not actively engage in that behavior which is the main difference, though, I have fallen in the past but thank God for the sacrament of Reconciliation. The Church, has not, did not, and never will stand for anti-LGBT hate. To engage in such homosexual behavior is a sin just like an unmarried man sleeping with an unmarried woman is, or like a husband cheating on his wife. All adultery, all sexual fornication, and all forbidden to us Christians.

The only type of abortion that is restricted in Poland is the type of abortion where oh I just spent the last couple months being very sexually active and now I'm pregnant and don't want to have the child those people are not allowed to have abortions and are restricted from having abortions because they are lazy people and have every possible contraceptive not only for themselves before their partner to prevent pregnancy.
Also contraceptives are readily available in Poland and are very easy to obtain.
