Sorry for my 'home made' English ;-)
I hope you have fun, making, or just watching this tutorial. If that is the case, please be so kind to give it thumbs up, maybe post a nice comment, and subscribe if you have not done already, to support my channel. I would appreciate that very much! And when you hit the bell, next to the subscribe button, you will be notified of every new tutorial upload. Speaking about buttons: there is also a 'Coffee for Jan' button on the channel page 😃
👉Tip: When you want to follow a tutorial, it’s usually best to start with the default filter values and tool options.👈
Yet another clear, simple explanation of how to work with GIMP, I have been a subscriber to this channel for quite awhile now and have learned much. I haven't up-graded to Gimp 2.10 yet, but the more I learn about it, I'm sure it won't be long. Thanks again for all you do for us.
Hi chazdad! Thanks for your nice comment. It's is nice to read that the tutorials help. 👍Gimp 2.10.2 is already there, with over 40 bug fixes and 2 new filters. But it won't harm either to wait a little. Anyway, have fun with Gimp and have a great weekend. Jan. GW. ps: thanks so much for subscribing 🙂
Maybe you can help me with something I hae been wondering about, is it pssible to transfer my GIMP 2.8 to a thumb/flash drive to save it,before I download 2.10
It is, as far as I know, possible to have both versions of Gimp on one system, but I am not sure how to do that. I am sorry... I have 2.8.22 still on my laptop, but that is only to be able to compare if necessarry. Maybe some of our fellow Gimpers knows how to do it and hopefully he or she is willing to share that knowledge in this tread. Bey for now.
Hi chazdad. I have copied my 2.8 version from my laptop to a external hard drive. Then connected this hard drive to my pc and opened Gimp 2.8, so that worked. I can also just open the 2.10 that is already on my pc but.... not at the same time with the 2.8 version. It is the one or the other. Hope this helps.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, now al i have to do is figure out what I want to do. decisions, decisions. ;)
I don't know why all those various steps work, but they do. Thanks!
Thank you for this step-by-step video. I wanted to simply place two images side-by-side, without the gradient. With this video, I was able to tweak the protocol to do that, and I came up with a nice, fairly smooth image, with just a tiny, but acceptable mismatch where the two halves joined.
Very good and so helpful. Thank you so much dear sir
just watched your old video on this topic this one is just as good thank you
Hey Cosmo Ianiro😊 Thanks, maybe even a bit simpler. Have a nice weekend. 😎

I have a question i followed the directions multiple time still i end up with white and black gradient. Why?
jump to 4:00 and save yourself the heartache
Thanks for a great tutorial. I wasn't able to "get rid of the lines" between the 2 photos. It went kind of fast. Could you please elaborate?
I feathered the selection of the Sea Gull before applying the gradient and got rid of the lines. Thank you for the tutorial.

Do you have a tutorial for stacking photos in 2.10? I was trying to do stacking but got stuck on the plug in python fu. The python fu console is empty.
Sorry Lenie, no stacking tutorial (yet). 🙂 Installing plug-in's in 2.10 unfortunatly seems to be a problem sometimes. I guess it takes some time because 2.10 is still so new. Personally, for the time being I will keep making the tutorials with the standard filters and features, so they are easy to access and implement by beginners. Anyway, thanks for commenting and subscribing. 👌 Have a great weekend. Jan. GW.
Hello, G.W., I colour black and white photos from the second world war and I was wondering if you knew of a technique when it comes to colouring the soldiers' camouflage uniforms? The British Parachute troops' uniforms are not so difficult, just time comsuming, but the Waffen SS troops intricate camouflage styles seem virtually impossible to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Wolf Enstein. I can't tell you an easy techynique, which does not mean there is not one. I have no tut on this subject (yet). I think I would use a proper example image and try selecting certain area's. Then copy/paste in to your goal image, and work on them further. Maybe use the displacement map, but I am really not sure if all that would work. It stays complicated manual labour and very time consuming. I am sorry that I can't be of more help. Have a nice day. Jan, GW.
Thanks for your reply, Jan. If I find any information regarding the techniques for this process I'll be sure to share them here.
Thanks Wolf, for your input!
👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks so much... 😉😉😉
My name is (nezar alasady). Can you (EXPORT) your project from 2.10.2 to any folder? My 2.10.2 can not. When I click on (export) everything stops.
Hi Nezar Alasady. When you want to save your project with all layers, you should go to save as. You can then chose in which folder you want to save it and it will be saved as an Gimp xcf file. Export and export as are used to export an actual image, but not the whole project. Hope this helps... please let me know. 😉
Followed these videos step, by step but this just doesn't work.
Oei .,dan heb ik het niet juist gemaakt ☹️
Jawel hoor Joy, hij ziet er goed uit. Maar jij had het over veel meeuwen dus maakte ik een grapje. Sorry voor de verwarring. 😪
