I bought that same tensioner bracket from AFP, I believe the tensioner I bought to go with it is from an LSA. I'll install it eventually... maybe tomorrow since you've reminded me about it with this video. As for the welds, I've had to do some repairs on my GMC Sierra, these frames are a pain to weld on sometimes. I even preheated the areas I welded on to get rid of the factory wax coating. It still wasn't foolproof. I appreciate when you keep it real and don't edit out and reshoot when you trip over your words. To me, it shows that you are a regular guy and makes you very relatable. Keep up the good work, I hope that you'll be blessed with some sort of a temporary lift solution like quick jacks until you are able to get your dream shop.
luckily I had swapped in the drop keys just last fall, I had to fight with the stock ones a little bit, but I know exactly what you mean. I've had some that area so stuck they took hours to remove
L.T.. been a watcher/follower for several years. Love your content buddy. Everything went dark when you left Truck Tech. You can't imagine how exciting it was to find your channel. I've enjoyed the ugly truck and a few of your other projects. Got to tell you, the step side just ROCKS.I thought Red Tide was too cool. But feel you've taken the step side to the next level. Keep on rocking buddy.
well thanks for watching and I'm glad you found the channel! The stepside is kind of the build that RedTide was supposed to turn into, but never made it so I'm very happy with how its turned out, and even happier that its mine that I get to keep
LT Weld in this case strength is more about penetration than good looks. MIG welding can be deceiving, I have done real pretty MIG welds that I could knock loose with some hammer blows due to lack of penetration but as long as I see the ARC digging in to the base metal I don't worry about looks especially in odd positions and vertical welds. Love the channel & Keep up the good work.
A technique to get a bit more safe boost and timing is to fit the equivalent of a lawnmower carburettor in the intake and feed the float bowl with the return fuel line or add a water meth injection system. The water meth allows for more boost but you need to keep filling the tank. Adding a much larger reservoir tank to the inter cooler system will also help keep temperatures down as it will reduce heat soak and add a bit more cooling.
Another great video LT. It looks to me like the additional plate you added was a good idea when you consider where the bump stop hits the frame. Nice job Man.
Great video. Coilovers look awesome and they'll work better than the torsion bars in your truck; we, at least, know you ditched a lot of unnecesary weight by doing this mod.🤙
Don't forget to put a bunch of anti seize on the threads of the coilovers. Didn't see any on yours. Will gouge the threads if you don't when adjusting ride height.
Wow, I had no idea there was that much weight savings. I love how light my '00 is, and I still have at least a few hundred pounds of crap I can remove! If you buy the same truck today for some reason it weighs like 1000lbs more...
Nice work on installing the coil over shocks and losing all of that extra weight should help out some. I don't blame you for being OCD on your builds, I am the same way whenever I work on something too and it really does pay off. Great video and the music is cool!!! :)
LT I have that same kit on mine! Have you ever thought about making a video on how to dial I’m coil overs like that? To this day still having an issue with finding a good stance that rides good. But others with that kit say they love it
Can you do an update video on the Ford 4x4 truck with the 351 stroker that you put together? That's the build that got me watching your channel. Love the channel great content...
Rock auto is fantastic. I ordered brake rotors and pads for my WRX STi Brembo brakes and in total for the fronts it was about $150 less than it would have been at one of the standard auto parts stores.
I’ve had better luck with the gates green belts. I’m running an LSA on my C10 with a 6rib setup also! I’m running a 2.55 upper with a ZL1 Lower crank dampener! I really like your truck I saw it at LS Fest!
Technically torsion bar suspension is better than coil over as it is totally sprung weight. A coil over on a bell crank system is also totally sprung weight. So except for easier height adjustment the only improvement with coil overs is in the adjustment in the dampers.
Ive heard the maxtrac aluminum spindles for the nnbs are actually about the same weight or heavier than stock, im in the process of finding something out to pair it up with my lightweight front arms/brakes🙌🏼
Looks like a cool kit. I’m having a hard time trying to find a kit for the 88-98 GMT400 trucks. I want to say BDS does something with one of their lift kits but haven’t done much research on it.
Could’ve did the same on amazon for the belt and wouldn’t have shipping cost but still saved a bit. How much would a suspension kit like this will run you ?
The RPM belts are OK. I quit getting them after I snapped one after 2 weeks. (Water pump failed and took belt with it) but at $130 a pop it was not worth it. However, Dayco Drive Rite belts are like $20 and worked flawlessly on max effort whipple 2.3. They also worked well with the griptec pulleys. I believe ZPE griptec advises you NOT use RPM belts eith their pulleys. Food for thought
Nice ! Dude now you gotta do the Silverado 20and up front brake upgrade it’s dirt cheap and very very effective. But you’ll probably get some sponsors to donate a set of brembos
The 4 piston calipers from the 2020 Silverado are impossible to find right now. I’ve been on the hunt for the last couple months trying to find some and no luck
@@LawrenceTolman you’re right though, if you can wait it’s so worth it. Makes it affordable to keep putting AC Delco parts on my GM cars and trucks. Even down to light bulbs and wiper blades are pennies on the dollar vs auto parts stores.
The pulley is physically smaller, that's what causes belt slip. It's literally not as tight. In the right situation a larger bottom pulley is better, it'll automatically make the belt tighter. Of course, that could snowball..
def. a little smoother, especially over the rough concrete roads around here. If you did a ton of towing, I might stick with the torsion bars, I'd say this would be better suited for a daily/performance oriented truck
Just seen a build on Powernation with the red AWD K1500. Just curious on what headers where used? Im having a hard time finding long tube headers that will fit my K1500
He puts paint over fresh welds because that will rust quickly, the rest of the rust on the frame is just surface rust. A fresh weld will not suffer from just surface rust.
Come up with a way to make a hydrogen to generator in a vehicle so we can figure out how to help all these people in California with their car problems starting January 1 2023
I’m still baffled why people swapping an LSA want to run it along with all the other accessories on the 6 rib rather than just running an OEM 8 rib setup. You’ve already spent more making the 6 rib ‘work’ rather than piecing an OEM setup together to begin with
Awesome kit, I used them to level my Tahoe. Ride quality is great.
Ah shit, Love your channel dude
glad to hear that! I haven't driven this one just yet, but am excited to see how it rides and handles
Can't wait to see the video on it
@LsxMatt looking forward to that brake upgrade
@LsxMatt I commented that you two should do a collab lol 😂
I like your videos because it doesn't sound like you're teaching a high school automotive class, unlike most videos these day's.
Great content.
I appreciate that!
It’s great to see companies getting behind you. The channel is steadily growing like the horsepower in your trucks.
i love watching the orange stripe slowly falling off the wall
yup, need to re-do or just remove that

Man LT you’re so lucky with them keys!!! I’ve had two trucks that they couldn’t be removed from without cutting! Nice work!
luckily I had swapped in the drop keys just last fall, I had to fight with the stock ones a little bit, but I know exactly what you mean. I've had some that area so stuck they took hours to remove
Rpm belt saving trick saves my hide. Thank you.

Actually showed pricing and potential sponsor who’s not pricing very reasonably. Great content, cool projects!!!
Finally a good video of these coilover being installed love it !
Glad you liked it!
Happy for you that you're starting to get some real sponsors! Keep it up LT!
Thanks, It definitely helps to support the channel
You have probably heard..........

been running Atomic fab and performance for years! Awesome stuff.

Just a heads up Napa carry’s the gates rpm belts they might have to order it from a warehouse but they can get them and they do list them.
Favorite build of the channel
That's a sweet looking kit for the coil overs very well thought out 👍
Awsome content, really cool build thanks for sharing with us
Those torsion bars make the best crow bars with one end ground to a point
That after taste after grinding! Lovely

good point I forgot to mention. I did actually put a fair amount of it on the body of the shock before assembling 'em
Upgrade:Complete!
Thanks Lawrence. I started using keeps about 6 weeks ago. Im 34 and am starting to see noticeable hair loss. Wish me luck 🍀
good luck with your hair goals!
I would love those for my gmc jimmy. I would imagine so much better tire wear with the spring compared to torsion bar.

I've always wished these were factory with coil overs the room to work with out the torsion bar parts is awesome
When welding bald i find a nice thick welding cap helps with sparks.

You should do the 2020 silverado brake kit four piston calipers and bigger rotors
Yup, I’d love to for sure

Been waiting on an OBS version to come out from Atomic. Nice video.
I need to try those coil over out. I have been battling the "chevy lean" . The ride height is a niche shorter on the front drivers side corner.

Belt is at NAPA for 127.99 same exact part number FYI.
Wish i had your knowledge bro i admire your work ethic 💯
always a good time when you can get weight off the front

Makes it similar to the 07-13 Silverado 1500. Nice kit!
Great video LT. Keep up the great work!!
5:39 hey buddy lol
Did you end up using the 2” drop spindles
Very cool LT! A quick question does this coil over kit work on a 97 obs Tahoe?
No, the GMT400 trucks are different
Ok thanks that’s to bad that’s a nice set up
Ive heard the maxtrac aluminum spindles for the nnbs are actually about the same weight or heavier than stock, im in the process of finding something out to pair it up with my lightweight front arms/brakes🙌🏼

What spring rate on the coilovers did you go with? Happy with the rate?
Looks like you have a nice weight savings!
Why not put the lower bolts for the coil over bracket in the other way? Slightly more room for the cv Axle
It would give slightly more room, but the lower bolt might interfere with the CV axle when you remove/install in
Oh I see, carry on lol
Is that the factory throttle cable? Just wondering if it reaches or not. Getting ready to tear into the lsa install

Hey thanks for the input, I never realized that about the griptec pulley. I may have to switch it up again
No I don't think it's a huge deal, but they mentioned that the rpm + the griptec could cause extra belt wear, its kind of redundant
Most of my parts y ordered from rock auto they have good prices on car parts
Hi..can tell me tensioner number?

Can I buy your crossmember bar ?
Can I hear weight reduction And you need to put them drops Spindles in just to be safe

I wonder if they'll ever do the 2500 kit.
There’s some out there. BDS is one. I just did that kit 2 weeks ago on mine with the Fox shocks. Never imagined an HD truck riding so smooth.
The pulley is physically smaller, that's what causes belt slip. It's literally not as tight. In the right situation a larger bottom pulley is better, it'll automatically make the belt tighter. Of course, that could snowball..

I kind of got a chuckle out of "technically" they're called the "purple" ones, lol.
I have a question, I am looking to lift my Tahoe z71 and I didn’t know if any stock keys would lift it and be a little cheaper?
I think I remember something about F150 keys lifting a 1/2 ton, but don’t remember for sure
It was in my brain and I had to do it... Hahaha Love it!
how does it feel at high mph ?
haven't driven it yet actually, but will report back once I do
@@LawrenceTolman thank you sir
@@LawrenceTolman any update ?
I'm considering doing this coilover kit as well. What length and pound springs did you use?
they were 1,000 lb/in springs, not sure on the length, Atomic supplied em with the kit
@@LawrenceTolman thanks bud
What spring rate did you go with?
1,000lb/in is what was supplied with the kit
Love Ur content. Everything I'm in to
Do you have the link to the tensioner bro ?
Or maybe the part number
the bracket can be found here, atomicfabandperformance.com/product/hd-truck-belt-tensioner-bracket/ and the tensioner is a part number 38518
What spring rate does this kit use?
this one has a 1,000 lb/in spring
Lol. The frame is already rusted and he paints the bare metal to keep it from rusting hahahaha. Priceless. :-)
