Thanks ! one reason for making these videos is to walk customers and people not in this business 1. the correct / professional steps of restoration 2. to show how much time it really takes to accomplish quality work.... Thanks for following, I'll be the best craftsman I can for you!
Thanks, check out the series on the 68 Charger restoration on my video page, I'll be accomplishing pretty much the same work on the Impala. Uploading new Impala video tomorrow. Thanks for following my channel and your support !
I have, it left some damage, maybe it was me.. but for me it's faster and easier to hammer and dollie. maybe because I learned the old way before those tools, I remember when they came out. What is your experience with it ? do your like it better ?
Great video, where is your shop located at. How much did you charge to do all the metal work on the 62. I love watching how you did everything right 1 step at a time. Great job.
Thanks for watching ! We are located in Rowlett Tx, If you go to our video page, we just completed the metal work on a 1968 Charger, it was a very in depth repair... I will be following the same steps on the Impala.
@@guzzifabrication3448 do you have a number or shop , I would like to try to contact you. I am interested in replacing all my sheet metal work on my dad 64 impala convertible. He passed away last year and left it to me as a gift and I Made a promise to him in the hospital before his last breath to repair it. Thinking of turning it in to a low rod. If you can help with all the sheeetal work it will be a blessing. I’m working offshore in Thailand right now at chevron oil rig and, I can have my nephew contact you for all the support.also I never got your name. I’m Chris
Thanks Don for watching the factory usually put 2 to 3 tacks on each end of the door skin and that was sufficient, now that the skin is on the less welding on the door the better
6:28 .... the door skin is welded to the frame in several locations, which is better, one factory location plug weld or multiple welds to anchor the door skin to the frame ?
Wow brother that is alot of work can I ask how many hours did you have in doing all that work and how you figure out your time vs just replacing the entire door. did you have to go that path cuz there is no full doors or a long waiting time.
The customer had already purchased the door skin and the patch repair panel inside it's always a toss up depending on if a good quality door is available
Good video. I'm starting a 63 Biscayne door skin. This will help a lot. Thanks

Have you ever used a skin zipper tool for an air hammer? I'd like to know your opinion of that them

I noticed that you tacked the fold over. Will you be coming back and welding the folded over hem more?
Thanks Don for watching the factory usually put 2 to 3 tacks on each end of the door skin and that was sufficient, now that the skin is on the less welding on the door the better
I noticed that you didn’t coat anything on the backside of the panels, why?
When all of the metalwork is finished on the vehicle you do all coatings in one step instead of multiple that saves time, material, and money...
So you don't have to plug weld the Door skin to the door frame?
