    Been watching lots of videos on noise-cancelling and call quality headphones, and Rawan has some of the most thorough tests. The timestamps also help a lot so I can skip features I don't care about. SOMEONE GET THIS MAN MORE SUBSCRIBERS!

      Thanks a lot for your comment! To be honest, it was an internal dilemma: brief and short or long and thorough. I opted for thorough + timestamps so people can hopefully skip to the parts that interest them. So I'm actually very glad to hear what you just said! ;) And starting a review channel in 2020, especially at tech one, is tough... but..will continue putting in the work, and hopefully subscribers will follow.. :) Thanks again for sharing your feedback, appreciated

      @@RawansReviews It's personal preference ... I like cherry-picking certain features I care most about, but I want to be absolutely sure about those certain features. Good luck with the channel; tech is a crowded space but people tend to watch multiple videos when making a buying decision. RUclips and reddit are my go-to's when researching a product; good production, thoroughness, and honesty always set the good ones apart.

    This was a very nice review. But yes, you have already kind of decided which you wanted to win before starting, as you said. The Jabra also has some more "technical" things its good at and has the busy-lights and that stuff and the mute on boom-mic up and unmute on down + another mute-button ON the boom. So, for me this was a bit more difficult. I like the Bose, but value also the more "work-related" values that Jabra gives. And since I value the busy-light and some of the "techy" stuff the Jabra gives I have chosen the Jabra. Thank you for a very nice review. You did put in the work! Well done!

    Thanks for detailed review. I recently bought Jabra Evolve2 75 and I can tell you its noise cancellation is second to none. I was on a Teams call on a busy street while a Harley Davidson passed by and no one on the call noticed the roar of Harley and neither that I was on a noisy street. Besides @ 5:42 Jabra Sound+ app has the variable noise cancellation feature.

    Your clearly wanted Bose to be better is evident and stated. You only give a point to Jabra if you give a point to Bose. I appreciate your feedback Randy. While I do try to remain objective in evaluating them, I also do give my subjective opinion, and I stated it up front that I do prefer the Bose as an all-rounder headset. That’s not to say the Jabra is not a worthy contender-it even outshines the Bose in some areas. But the Bose does remain my favorite all-rounder headset. Since you mention you use both, I am interested to hear your own thoughts on both of them though! Or maybe which particular points do you disagree with? Thanks for the review. I already have the BOSE NC700, but at times people interrupt me and say I sound robotic, and I've had general connection issues with the device. I use it on my MacBook, Windows laptop and Windows desktop and its normally been OK. But I wanted a dedicated work-from-home headset and thought these Jabra's would be an upgrade. Seems like I should look at the Evolve2 65 for just usage at home with top quality microphone clarity

      Thanks for sharing that. Interesting enough, I’ve had people tell me the same lately, and I’m yet to figure out the root cause of this. But now I disconnect from phone and still get these comments sometimes, which is quite frustrating. Let me know if you end up figuring out the cause, and I’ll do the same ;) Cheers, Rawan

    Thanks for a great review. I wish you had gone into more detail about the ease of use/connectivity with a windows PC and how it works in videocalls. I'm considering these headphones solely because of their usb dongles and easier pairing with a windows PC. I have the Sony xm4s and they are useless at making teams calls while paired to a windows PC.

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад +4

      Hi there, thanks for your comment! Indeed this was subtly mentioned but perhaps could have been highlighted more prominently. They "work" without the dongle, but the dongle makes connectivity with PCs more consistent, easier, and faster---to the point that I sometimes have them off, and I only turn them on as soon as I'm receiving a Teams call. They turn on and connect within seconds, just in time for me to pick up the call.

    Those who don't know.. Mr. Amar Bose invented noise cancelling. He came up with the noise cancelling mathematics while on a plane from Europe to Boston. He wrote down the math on pieces of paper he got on the flight. The idea of cancelling sound with opposite sound was almost an impossible solution. Either the opposite generated sound had to be calculated in 0 time or the future sound disturbance had to be cancelled based on the past sound disturbance. It took Bose 15 years and 50 million USD to develop this technology. And today the noise cancelling feedback loop circuit is taught in most engineering colleges including mine in Mumbai.

    Great review! I am leaning toward the Bose over the Jabra because they seem like the better overall headset. From strictly a work perspective I think the Jabra with the boom down is the best option as the voice sounds much louder than the Bose. The Bose will be the better overall headset longer term for uses other than work (movies, music, plane travel).
    Did you notice any differences in your voice quality with the Bose as you changed the ANC settings? I'd have to imagine that the higher ANC setting number would start to dampen and soften your voice compared to the lower ANC settings. Thank you for any insight there!

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад +6

      Thanks for the feedback! And you are absolutely right, Jabra might be slightly better for strictly work perspective, but the Bose (in my opinion) is the better all-rounder.
      As for your question about ANC settings: changing ANC has an effect on the sound *you are hearing, but not on what the 3rd party in a call hears. So the mics that are working to capture your voice and supress the background noises are firing on all cylinders regardless of your ANC setting (or if ANC is off alltogether). The only difference then, if you have ANC on the highest level, is that *you might be able to hear the other party better because you are hearing less background noise.
      Hope this helps!

    Very interesting that the sound quality of the boom mic is worse than the earcup mics of Jabra Evolve2 85 in the quiet environment. It looks as if a strong NC algorithm kicks in as soon as the boom mic is down even when NC is not needed.

    Good review. I have a question - which headphones would you recommend for work at home, when there is noisy renovation around (drills - high tones, jackhammers - low tones, everything very loud and I will have it like this for the next year) I need headphones for phone calls and lots of video conferences - unfortunately in such terribly noisy conditions.I want my own comfort, to get away from those loud noises, and the comfort of the listener during conversations and video meetings. Which would be better Jabra or Bose or maybe some other?

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад +1

      I don't think there's any pair of headphones that would tick all your boxes, but having said that, I do believe the Bose 700 would tick the 'most' boxes... That is, it has stellar mic noise cancelation (so the other party can hear you well) and great active noise cancelation (so you can somewhat suppress background noises). But keep in mind that ANC does not do greatly with the variable noises (such as people yelling, etc...). It works best with low frequency and steady noises (like an airplane engine). So don't expect it to drown down completely all background noises. Nonetheless, especially if you have some music on, it should drown down most of the nuisances around you. So I do believe it will be the best one for your needs, giving you a combination of great active noise canceling as well as mic call quality.

    Hi Rawan, great review! Do you know if the NC Bose 700 is compatible with the USB Link Bluetooth module? I checked with a sales rep at BOSE but I can't see any documentation anywhere regarding this. thanks

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! Yes it is. The UC 700 is essentially the NC 700 + the USB Link Bluetooth adapter. Only difference is you have to manually pair it if you buy them separately, vs it being paired out-of-the-box if you buy the UC version.

    Thanks for taking so much time to make these videos. I am comparing between Bose NC 700 (Non-UC Version) and EPOS Adapt 660 since I managed to find both of them at a similar price. My main use will be for taking a lot of calls on MS Teams, Zoom and Facebook Messenger and Occasional Music and Netflix. Which ones should I go for?

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you've enjoyed the videos! Unfortunately I have not personally tested the EPOS Adapt 660 and thus cannot give an informed opinion on them vs the Bose 700. What can I say, though, is that the EPOS 660 come with a Bluetooth dongle and the 700s don't. If your primary use is calls on Teams, etc, and you don't plan on purchasing the Bose USB Link (or the 700 UC version), then I would tend to favor headphones with a dongle (i.e EPOS 660) as that gives you a more stable connection with your PC, and better control over your calls. Hope this helps!

      @@RawansReviews Sorry I forgot to mention that I have a Jabra Link 370 Dongle that came with my old Evolve 65's that I plan to use if I get the Bose 700s. Would that improve MS Teams call quality or should I still look into the EPOS 660's?

      @@RaafiMMatin I did a quick test just now with the Jabra Link 370. I didn't feel it improved the quality, though my gut feeling says it might improve reliability as it bypasses your laptops built in Bluetooth. Could you comment on these 2 headsets as wireless PC gaming devices? on some online games, in Windows, i wasn't able to map the QC35ii handsfree-audio into the game at all, and has to resort to wired connection.
    whereas the Jabrah Evolve2 85 with its USB wireless adapter, I was able to map the mic and headset properly in game, although, still in the bluetooth "handsfree" low fidelity mode.
    I'm very curious if the Bose 700 UC USB adapter circumvents the bluetooth only option and is able to map mic & headset in a game, and even more so, if its able to avoid the bluetooth handsfree mode altogether when chatting.

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад

      Yes, I was surprised well. I found the earcup mics were clearer and more natural sounding in a quiet environment. But when you introduce any background noises, the boom mic is definitely far more superior.

  • @vjekan
    @vjekan 3 года назад +1

    Great review man! Is it just me or does the jabra pick up voice way better without the boom mic enabled and just by using the ear cup mics?
    I'm on the fence between these two headsets and need it solely for video conferencing (MS Teams, Google hangouts, zoom, Skype, etc) + audio calls over my android phone. For that purpose, which ones would you recommend?

    • @RawansReviews
      @RawansReviews  3 года назад +4

      Thanks for the feedback! The ear cup mics are more "sensitive", since they're much further from your mouth, they have to be. In a quiet environment, that might give the impression that they're louder or better. That being said, they're not that good at picking up your voice if there's any background noise. Personally, I almost always use the boom mic and never take the chance with the ear cup mics. I have noticed, though (and it's evident in the video), that once you extend the boom mic, it takes a second or two to pick up your voice properly.
      As for your question: well it's a tough one! If you need it *solely for calls, then I would go for the Jabra. It's just a safer option I would say, and you know it will pick up your voice clearly no matter what may be happening in the background. And, if you use it for music, air travel, etc, you still get good audio and noise cancelation. With the Bose, while I do love it more as an all-rounder headset, I'm always on the edge if it's picking up my voice well enough. The presence of a boom mic on the Jabra is more reassuring ;) Call muting with various apps (Zoom for example) doesn't always work on the Bose. On the Jabra, muting happens on the headset itself, so it works on any app.
      I would dare take this further--and this is only my impression and not a statement from either brand--but I feel the Jabra was designed to make calls first, and does a few other things well too. The Bose was designed as noise-canceling headphone, but does a few other things well too.
      Hope this helps!

    This test for call quality is completely incorrect.
    I have tested the Jabra, and purely from a call quality perspective it's by far superior than the Bose NC700. It's not even close.
    No one in their right mind would use Bose NC700 for business calls over the Jabra.
    Please stop misleading users as call quality is king on Jabra and for music and entertainment Bose would be your choice.

The people on the other end always were able to hear everything in the background, my keys in my hands, cars passing etc.. It was very frustrating. I am looking for a nice pair that works great in an office environment where there will be a lot of calls made. I felt that the sonys xm3/4 bose and all those fancy brands don't help there at all.

    • @RawansReviews

      I'm surprised to hear that. My experience with the Bose has been great with mic quality in noisy environments, but of course it can't do magic--so there are things it cannot cancel out. Were you updated to the latest firmware? For your case, if wireless is not a necessity, perhaps look into some wired options with a dedicated boom mic? Good luck either way!
