Please call me back if you know what area I'm referring to
Fun detail: sometimes in 3D rigging we have switches on feet and hands called IK/FK.
When you see hands being mysteriously posed in a way that looks like they are locked to something unseen, and you watch them slowly tween into an animation where the hands look like they were being pulled towards this unseen anchor, that is the IK tools doing their job.
Normally IK rigs are designed so that they can act as anchors to plant limbs to avoid foot/hand sliding. When they are set to FK the hands and feet would act more traditionally like a pose-able doll instead of a puppet on taunt strings.
For those who don't know, IK stands for "inverse kinematics" , and FK stands for "forward kinematics".
@@noah-xt9tx I knew IK, but thanks for explaining FK.
4:37 The character is keeping the mask on at all times and the developers had fun with the hypothetical scenario of why, and actually added the face just to have a laugh knowing it's there but no one can see it. I love this so much.
What a nostalgic romp, not just because of the collection of Zelda games but because of the whole 7 year legacy of Boundary Break that's still ongoing. The Wind Waker episode still is my favorite as the first one I saw. Man, how time flies.
Yeah!
When it showed Phantom Ganon getting squashed at the end, it reminded me that one of the Action Replay codes available is "Paper Link" which does the same thing to him. I always wondered how and why they made that code, so maybe it just applies that Phantom Ganon effect to Link.
Every model in the game's engine has what's called a transformation matrix (this is true of almost all 3D games in general). The foreshortening effect is just changing some of the coefficients in that matrix, so it would work on any model in the game just the same.
Those untextured eyes might just be there for the sake of making the normal NPC coding work properly. Some parts of the animation code might reference eyes and if it doesn't have anything to manipulate then who knows what might've broken? Having something for the eye code to point at as a placebo probably just keeps things working smoothly.
the more likely cause is just that the 3D modelling was done in advance (with eyes) but later they didnt like the look of the eyes being slightly visible from some angles so they just pulled back the eyes a bit so they no longer protrude through the skin anymore ;)
@@raafmaat I mean, they effectively did remove the eyes, they pulled them back farther in the head and left empty slots where they were.
@@Jsuelieta wait yeah i was looking wrong, i editted that post so it makes sense again!
I'm so glad they hired junji ito for twilight princess
Crazy how times flies! To think you've been doing this for over seven years!
The Twilight Princess episode is still one of my favorite Boundary Break videos. For almost the entire video I was seeing things I wasn't expecting and I can't believe it's been 7 years since the original Twilight Princess video came out.
You've been much more alive and personable the last few months, it's nice to hear that pep back in your step and you enjoying the material and work.
Dude shut up. I'm sure he doesn't want to hear this shit just let it be. Comments like this are so fucking useless especially if he was going through it
These were all such great videos and I think you picked great highlights for the Comp. Thanks for another great upload
Over the course of seven(!) years, of course there are some parts I'd forgotten 😅. It's always great to "pull the curtain back" and see how they achieved certain effects etc with trickery you can't see as a player.
Awesome video as always, thanks for being my favorite camera since years
I hope that Nintendo isn't gonna sue this guy.
...For what reasons do you think they'd be able to sue him over?
Secret area twilight princess
Secret area twilight Princess
Secret area in Twilight Princess😊
@@jeffdroogthey did try to get him before for modding.. I remember watching a video of him breaking down about it..
Question: Did they use the same water source stretching in TotK as they did in BotW? You can kinda tell from the map of the Underdark that the areas beneath the ground are sectioned off from each other by above-ground waters and lakes, so I was wondering if they did so because of the water stretch effect.
I believe this is addressed in the TotK episode, which you can still catch in full. If I'm remembering correctly, it's still entirely there but modified for the caves, meanwhile the depths more like a separate map despite the coordinates.
they use the same engine so it's likely to be somewhat the same
mostly, yeah. some of it is moved around a bit though bc caves
Seven years! How time flies!
Been waiting for this!
ive been waitin for this one
always a good day when one of these drops!
Nice to see that the creepiest Zelda game, Twilight Princess, has the most cursed stuff in the cutscenes. The tiny Midna head is gonna keep me up at night now.
Yo! Shesez! I was in the Twitch chat when you were getting footage for this. I told you then that I binge BB while programming all the time. Well here we are and I'm doing the same thing haha
Episode turned out great dude! Keep em comin'!
I loved these episodes so much
Thanks!
Duuude I was binge watching your Zelda stuff yesterday
Easily the best video so far 😍😍😍, and that is saying something
1:17
" Link... you must find me!.."
just seems like a game of hide and seek this way XD
This was really fun. I'd watch best of Boundary Break annual recaps, since only some of the games interest me enough for a whole episode.
Casually listening to the video as I get work done and the "bye bye naow" shocked me hahaha
Magnificent.
Splendid, even
Hell yes, I've been thinking making compilations would be a great thing to do with your content and help bring attention to older things.
1:59 The desert borders the ocean? I'm glad the Gerudo has a fully modeled face. The planet that Hyrule in on has a water mantle. 6:14 Did the audio cut off? 6:32 Zelda looks insane.
7:03 Link: Oh dear.
8:12 Only you should know my disturbing secret.
8:51 Gah, my neck broke!
11:30 I am sleep deprived ¬Д¬.
11:52 Ganonderp. 12:05 I really need to take a dump!
12:27 Pop.
Not sure why they didn't just use one room for all the Ferrus encounters.
14:11 And with our powers combined...
I did manage to explore Hyrule Field in Wind Waker HD. Aren't there parts of the field you can stand on? I'm pretty sure there is. You will fall through if you go out too far.
The triforce pieces in WW tidbit was amazing. ❤
I love that IK hand with the Zelda model with the second clip
I cracked the fuck up at Link with the glasses and smirk, good job.
About Tauro: They couldn't simply delete the eyes. All NPC's in the game are based on the Mii data format so the eyes had to go somewhere.
on the topic of OOT 3D, there's an incredible Garry's Mod map, that models the rest of the sides, and adds some cool Easter eggs.
I find this series so interesting, I’d appreciate it if you could do a boundary break video on mafia 3. I used to play the game a lot and I’ve always wondered what Sinclair parish (DLC location) was like before you unlocked it by purchasing the DLC and what was beyond the maps limits
Wooooooo, shesez video!!!
Original zelda game for n64 also has crawl-ways hidden in castle water areas, in similar place where dummied out one was in your video.
Zelda is my favourite hero, him and that Metroid dude.. 😎
Hey happy birthday man. Been a while. Hope you’re good.🎉🎉🎉
The water in BotW is likely always there because it's less expensive to just check the player's height against a value in a "water height" texture. The alternative is having complicated cages of water and needing to accurately check if the player is inside of them at all times.
Very interesting!
they say a ton of content was cut from Wind Waker last minute so it makes sense there's a lot of unused areas and details
That ToTK zoom out is breath taking. Hyrule feels so huge but it really isn't.
The TMNT sound effect. Nice choice.
That Wind Waker Hyrule map makes me want a game that happens JUST before it gets flooded...
I like to think the single sheet underground Hyrule in BotW is Hyrules ground water, and the fact there's so much of it is why Hyrule is so prosperous.
Shesez Link looks just AMAZING.
This man taught me what culling is
well something good to watch with my lunch lol
I would love to see a Boundry Break about Wolfenstein The Old Blood or the New Order. I know its not really the type of game genre you like to explore on this channel, i would still love to see it.
Ganondorf's eyes are still the funniest out of all these.
4:28. A Gerudo with tan lines is just plain weird.
WOOOT
Ganon's face at 12:08 literally has me struggling to breath from laughing so hard.
Thumbs-up! 👍
3:18 You know who else or yellow make up??? NABOORU!!
This is confirmed head canon for me now, lol
AHHH THE MIDNA FACE! NIGHTMARES FOR WEEKS
8:15
"Link, tell me I'm pretty."
spirit tracks mentioned let's gooo
I just "HIYAH!" for joy
6:14 - oops.
Oh, not Phantom Hourglass as well?.
bro can we get a map zoom out compilation one of these days? I could watch that for hours.
9:48
Link - "Please... Please kill me." ☠️
hmm...i wonder if there are any similar secrets in LttP, like that one person in Kakariko that runs away from you (you need the Pegasus Boots to catch up and talk to them)...
19:21 from a story perspective this becomes pure nightmare fuel.
In Wind Waker HD you can do a glitch so you can actually walk around Hyrule field! It’s really buggy but still cool
4:25
*His
It's a crossdresser remember?
Ganondorf: I've been dying to see you Link * brain aneurysm intensifies *
Miyamoto: Japanese Monster Link is not real, he cannot hurt you.
Shesez:
I love the Zelda franchise.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ❤❤❤❤ so beautiful all my games hitting me at once
lets goooo ❤
I need a boundary break about the Mario Kart new wave
you should 100% do psychonauts/psychonauts 2
I wondered how Phantom Ganon worked! Also, as a headphone user, I know the fake doesn't make noise!
There's a secret area in twilight princess that is not covered in boundry break if ur watching please cover it
Back in the day games where like: we only have that much resources to work with, lets make the best out of it.
Games today: wait adjusting our game to platforms? Why should we do that
I always love the bone cracking sound
8:15 No, Midna. I will not.
I have 2 boundry break game suggestions.
The first one is probably an obscure game to most but one of my favorites. "Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime." It was on the DS. there were 3 games released in this franchise, but only 2 hit North American. I'm curious if there's anything hiding out of bounds.
The second suggestion is Half-Life: Alyx. I've had a quest for a while but just recently got the quest 3, the lonk cable to play PC VR games, and Half-Lyfe: Alyx. The gane looks so good.
I love all the times they decided, meh, not worth the work, and they just animate the head. The Epona one looks like a kid playing with a toy horse.
11:52 I reckon Ganon has taken a few too many blows to the head by now... (o_°)
12:06 When your step Link penetrates you with his Master Sword
So… the fact the Gerudo ancestor had yellow eyes and yellow/green lipstick is interesting. Cuz Nabooru has the same color eyes and lipstick.
My favourite out of bounds secret will always be Ganonderp from Twilight Princess.
The Legend of Zelda: The Eldritchian Entity
It's time for Zelda II 2 - More Link Adventures
I love you so much, lol.
6:23 That's what she said when she saw it lmfao
Upside down and in the ground!! RIP
3:16 Why she got a lemon in her mouth 😂
Wait wait wait. Where’s phantom hourglass? 😢😢😢
damn i wanted to see if adult kafei has a model or not in the majora's mask credits...
4:20 O.o run Link!
I could have sworn he released this months ago
5:30, that's dirt easy, just render the objects normally while adding the rotation of characters to the top of the objects and gradually reduce the value you add towards 0 as you go down the vertices of the object.
been saying for years that Shesez should do some baseline 3D modelling course, he'd understand so much more what and why the makers did certain things in these games
@@AccAkut1987 Don't even need to do that, I certainly haven't, a few vids on YT should be enough. I'm just used to thinking about 2d/3d math so it wasn't a huge leap for me to figure out the method despite having never done it before
Wouldn't that cause the models (such as these statues) to bend slightly backwards?
These are skewed in a way that keeps the top parallel with the ground, with no actual rotation involved.
In Blender, this can be accomplished with the Shear tool.
And to think... We could have had Alan Wake. I guess there's always next time 😥
