This is 100% the best tier list I have seen for Marvel Champions. I completely agree with your criteria of a hero’s ability to beat all the villains with the best possible deck in expert mode (S+ tier reserved for consistently beating Ronan, Venom Goblin, Magneto). Your evaluations with resource generation, burst damage, etc is in line with my own and I really appreciate this list with well thought out explanations based on your own experiences. And you aren’t afraid to break away from common perceptions like “Dr. Strange is #1 and he breaks the game so ffg shouldn’t have ever made him.” As a Spidey fan, I love seeing him in S- tier compared to B tier as he is in most other tier lists. But I think he should be even higher, possibly S+ tier based on the criteria you set. Spidey can defeat expert Ronan (75% win rate) and expert Magneto (100% win rate across 5 games). I have full gameplay videos on my channel! I don’t have Sinister Motives so have yet to try Venom Goblin. Peter vs. Ronan: ruclips.net/video/g-0g9wNCJl4/видео.htmlsi=_Rs3MY4aPNbHh5zb Peter vs. Magneto: ruclips.net/video/Up2pipxBxZo/видео.htmlsi=fU8rvtPus9LTWP4y Also, I’d love to see your thoughts on the villains. Any plans to make a hardest villains on expert mode tier list?
Thank you so much! Thank you for the video links, I will check them out and I would love to move Spidery up to the S+ tier as a result, I am always happy to discover a hero is better than I thought.
Hi LOTRLCGSOLO, your ranking of the heroes in MC is the best I've seen so far! I've been watching it more often because it's so interesting. Well done! Now a question for you: will you expand your ranking with the heroes that have been added since then? That would be a dream:-) Best regards from the north of Germany.
I don't have that much experience yet with Marvel Champions, but to me, this is BY FAR the best tier ranking that I've watched, just in terms of explanation and detail and understanding the why for each hero, which is important. It's easy to hear someone tier rank, but normally the explanations are very surface-level or perhaps a few sentences here and there. For anyone playing this game solo, this is a must view IMO. So big thanks to the creator! Sub'd!
Great ranking, very detailed and it takes into account something I always do, too: Resource and card drawing abilities! I agree with some comments here regarding Spider-woman, she should be in a higher tier. Unless I misunderstood it, you said her Finesse cards don't work with her hero cards, only Aspect cards, but most of her kit is both a Spider-Woman and an Aspect card. So it is very powerful.
That's a really interesting tier list. It's so narrowly focused and remote from my personal interests that it's very informative. I do tend to think of heroes in their best deck as being a good power level marker, but someone might also highly rate heroes who can beat 85% of the content in a range of desks if they liked the deckbuilding or just variety. I have found porker a bit dull against the regular villains but it's fun to be able to bully Ronan and Venom Goblin, I did have great difficulty trying to beat Sabretooth with him though due to the gimmick of that scenario. edit: also Rocket can be very bursty with Repurpose, in terms of damage per turn if not per card , so still weak to retaliate but good at the gameplan of not letting villains sit in stage 3.
I think 4 hand heroes makes sense thematically for heroes like Hulk and Drax that are simple minded or blinded by rage but I personally usually don't like to play heroes with small hand sizes. I don't think the game is optimized for true solo and most heroes are designed for multiplayer which is why true solo is so hard for the higher difficulty content. I'd personally probably bump up Scarlet witch and Spider woman, I've got a lot of wins with those heroes and I honestly feel Scarlet Witch is a stronger hero than Captain America. I generally don't have a problem with overpowered heroes as long as they are fun to play and I don't think Doctor Strange, Ironheart or Starlord are fun to play personally but I find Spider Ham to be a lot of fun (and powerful). Interesting to see Vision score so high. I need to play him more because I really enjoy his playstyle. It would be interesting to see where the x-force cycle heroes would rank on this list.
They definitely do make sense thematically. I agree completely about not being optimized for true solo. Yea Vision is incredibly strong but only the Bring It/Ultron gimmick Vision deck. Without that he is a C tier hero in my opinion.
I'd move up Thor one tier, maybe even two, yeah, 4 handsize sucks but that really is mostly a deckbuilding limit, these days Thor's handsize is more around 8 and the hero kit still has got some gems, the built in draw really puts him above other 4 handsize heroes. Cap still S-tier, used to be my go to hero for heroics in the early days, very versatile to this day. Spider-Woman also felt crazy strong to me, so many great builds and some builds she's the only one can do, also heroic-viable. Not too much disagreement on the other rankings too, pretty realistic list.
Do you have any links to good Thor decks? I've struggled to maximize the draw as it often seems random and unreliable to just hope that minions come out.
This was a great list. Easily the best I’ve seen. I’m just curious as to where you’d place the other characters that have come out since this list was made?
Even though I play the game a lot different than you I really enjoyed watching this. I play thematic decks and generally stay on standard difficulty. I have a deck for every hero built so it is difficult to have optimized decks to try expert on most of the villains. Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks for watching! I think I would really enjoy thematic games in a multiplayer setting, and maybe with different challenges in mind in solo as well.
Quicksilver's Double Time won't trigger retaliate as it is not an attack. I don't think this would change the ranking from your perspective, but just wanted to correct it there so people don't start taking retaliate damage when using it.
Have you tried house ruling a floor of 5 handsize on those heroes with less than 5 handsize? If, as you say, it wouldn't break the game and there really is no reason beside thematic purposes, I may just do that when I take a crack at this in true solo. Great video and really enjoyed watching this as I try to get my newborn to sleep in the middle of the night 😂
Congrats on the new baby! I have tested in true solo and in true solo it is definitely not game-breaking. How it might affect multiplayer balance I can't say.
I just played the whole Galaxy's Most Wanted Campaign true solo with Groot in Leadership. Had no bigger problems winning. And it was fun, too. So for me Groot is far higher in my List

Quite late to the party here, but id love to see your lists for these S & S+ heroes!

Just got back into the game after a 2 year hiatus. This video was very informative, so I appreciate your time and effort. Subscribed.
Thank you so much!
Why’d you quit and what brought you back?

I find this video very insightful and I may rethink some of my decklists. It also makes me just accept that some heroes are for Standard Solo.
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! I have not played any heroes more recent than Cable/Domino but I will check them out and add them to the tier list when I can :).
Thanks for the reply. I'll look forward to your next version!

This made me want to play Star Lord Leadership again. I was beat true Solo six times in a row against Expert Grey Crow On the Run

Thank you for the clarification, this is helpful

Never played true solo when playing solo, I prefer 2H solo
