saw this on my yt page just now and came to check and liked so i connected hoping you and I can exchange ideas. I have a small suburban garden with a few chickens, some rescued cats and dogs in it. I also grow veggies but am still a novice at all of it.♥ Love your coop!☺
I would love to have them free range, but there life would be short. We have hawks and eagles that hover and random area dogs and coyote that pass through. I do give them scratch, dried larva scatter and garden veggies to peck at. At some point I would like to expand the run to the grassy area behind them a bit and have a gate so I could let them in there sometimes but also keep the grass alive. Yes the mesh on the top helps to keep those prey birds out! All a learning experience for sure!
They don’t need to walk on grass and now a days chicken feed has everything a chicken needs so there perfectly fine and there protected so they don’t gotta worry about stuff but chickens don’t need to be on grass or eat grass and I mean if she wants to feed them grass all she gotta do is go pick some grass from the yard
Looks like they are integrating well
Yes! Getting more intergrated as time goes on.
I love how sweetly you talk to your "girls"!!
They have become very special friends!

Sounds good, I am constantly learning in it and it is great to exchange ideas!
Chickens. Must. Walk. On the grass. For their health. Peck grass with its beak and look for worms. The protective mesh is superbly made!
