I hope I get one friend like Bobby Orr. Derek's got to be something special for Orr to stand by him like that.

Bobby Orr is the class act of all time. What a knight in shining armour...always to the rescue of his friends.

Bobby was class. He signed his December 1970 cover on Sports Illustrated as Sportsman of the Year for me in the bus tunnel at The Spectrum in Philadelphia. FLYERS fans truly respected Orr and Sanderson's games.

Derek threw me a puck at a Bruins game when I was 10 years old. I still have it.

I grew up watching the Bruins, I was 10 years old in 1970 when they won the cup. I loved everyone on that team, and in my young eyes (now old), they were the greatest team ever - with many characters like Sanderson, Cashman, The Cheese, and Pie. Bobby was definitely the leader, and has always been a super class act - a true role model to me and millions of other kids around the Boston area. I don’t think anyone has ever said a bad word about Bobby. As a now 60 year old man, he is still my idol - and a true gentleman.

My father was a season ticket holder from 60’ till 76’. He brought me to this tribute which I loved. My father passed away a month later.

Derek's biography that came out around 2016 is a great book for all hockey fans. A must read for all Bruins fans from the 70s.

His laying his entire stick on the ice to block passes in penalty kills was awesome.

It’s very easy to slip into addiction in any field…and very difficult to get out of. Derek has done something the majority don’t do. I’m sure he’s very thankful for everyone who helped him fight his demons.

When Derek played for the Philly Blazers in 1972 and Cheever played goal for the Boston team, Derek was free on a breakaway with his head down. Cheevers came out of the net to flatten Derek, but at the last second Derek chipped the puck over Cheevers' head into the net. Derek gave Cheevers the "gotcha" look. Awesome. This Flyers fan will say it. The WHA destroyed the Bruins dynasty and helped the Flyers, as they got Bernie Parent back from the WHA. Bernie single handedly beat the Bruins in The Cup Finals in May of 1974.

I have two Bruins jerseys. One says ORR 4 on the back. the other one? SANDERSON 16. When they retired 16 for Rick Middleton. it should've beon retired for Derek as well.
